"Good place with some great staff"
I have told many friends about Morningside House. They are great to work with. Sure, some employees don't do their jobs as well as they should. But there are also some amazing people there.

"Heartless Assisted Living Facility Profit Off Families' Grief"
MH requires a doctor check-up before accepting your loved one, which they claim is in their best interest. But there's another hidden reason behind this check-up which may not be immediately clear. You see, to join MH, you need to pay a "community fee" that might have increased in recent years. It's refundable, on a pro-rated basis, if your loved one "leaves" MH before six months. But there's a twist: if they give you a discount on this fee, the refund clause is automatically cancelled, a detail that isn't shared upfront. My mom got admitted there and was offered that discount. Sadly, she passed away within weeks of admission. It felt like the doctor at MH somehow predicted this and MH made sure to profit from the situation. After her demise, I was asked to take my time moving out her things. But don't be fooled - they calculate the refund from the last month based on when you finish moving out. So, every single day you take is at your own cost. They use this tactic to take advantage of grieving families, knowing it will potentially decrease their refund. You should also be aware of extra charges like pharmacy services. Even after my mom's departure from MH and her passing away in the hospital, these services continued and I was billed for them. It took me months to get these charges reversed. Regarding the facility's environment, my mom found the food weird. I even had a lunch there once – the cheapest baloney and white bread sandwich. They also failed to set up a phone service in her room. In addition, their in-house doctor, who could use some lessons in human interaction, was blunt about my mom's poor health and disregarded any hope for her survival. On the positive side, the staff – excluding the doctor – was kind. Unless you have no other choice in Charles County, my advice is to avoid this facility. Despite numerous issues, there's a rising trend of elderly care exploitation with people providing makeshift care services in their basements. This whole experience with MH was a nightmare.

"Friendly, Clean, and Affordable Assisted Living"
I would choose Morningside for my dad again. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They always let me know about any issues or medical problems. We picked this place because it was clean, affordable, and close to where I live. There were other places closer, but they weren't clean or were too expensive.

"Affordable with good staff and food; concerns about costs and transparency."
My 71-year-old mom needed PT and help getting in/out of bed after a stroke. This facility is all private pay.

"Assisted Living Facility Shows Promise After Management Change"
Morningside has new management now. Because of this, they are working on rebuilding their staff and improving the care for the residents. I think once the new management is fully settled in, I would give them all 5-star ratings. Whenever I have concerns, they apologize and promise to take action to make things better.

"Disappointing Care and Administration; Terrible Food Quality; Lack of Transparency"
The care and management here aren't good. The doctor lacks manners. They don't tell families who's in charge. When our loved one was in the hospital, they didn't stop their medicine refill. Now we're in a mess with pills and insurance. They could've paused the refill. It feels like they're hiding something. The food is awful and below average.

"Good Care at a Reasonable Price"
Morningside House was much cheaper than the other places we checked out. They made me feel confident that they could take care of her. The administrative staff answers our questions quickly. I am happy with the care, but they don't always keep me updated on medical stuff. Overall, I would recommend it to others.

"Safe, Clean, But Could Improve Communication"
For the money, this place is safe and clean. The staff does a good job communicating about COVID, but they need to do better with family updates. I'd suggest this place to others.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
This place smelled bad, but it looked fairly clean. The residents need a lot of care. On the bright side, they allow you to personalize your room with paint. Overall, not the best choice for my Mama.

"Great Care and Friendly Staff at Morningside House"
My dad lives at Morningside House of St. Charles in Waldorf, MD, and we’re really happy with the care he gets. The staff is caring, friendly, and professional. They treat my dad with respect and understand his needs. His room is always clean, his clothes are washed regularly, and everything is well organized. He enjoys his meals and snacks. His medications are given on time, and the nurses are kind and friendly. Recently, a Spanish-speaking lady joined the staff, which has been great for my dad since he likes speaking in his language. Overall, we’re very pleased with how my dad is treated and the services provided.
