"Neglected Dementia Care and Poor Practices at Rolling Meadows"
Rolling Meadows Assisted Living is not suitable for people with dementia. Giving it one star seems too generous. This low rating isn't because of how the place looks, but because the staff, including their 'President', are not equipped to care for dementia patients. My early experiences with the staff seemed decent, but within six months, I noticed warning signs. They wrongly dispensed my mother's medication, a staff member yelled at me during a phone call with my mother, and the 'President' sent me rude text messages. On top of this, the hospital informed me that my mother was being neglected after she fainted due to lack of proper changing, risking infection. In terms of entertainment, they offered weekly games like bingo, but didn't offer outdoor activities. The residents mainly watched TV. Buying toiletries, like incontinence products, from the facility is twice as expensive. Also, they didn't tell me that it was my responsibility to provide these products until four months in. The alarm bells really started ringing when my mother fell ill. I rushed there from out of state, only to discover that the facility lacked basic supplies. Eventually, I relocated my mother when Rolling Meadows refused to arrange immediate emergency care. They claimed that she was fine because she had been taken to the hospital days earlier. Despite my insistence that she was having a stroke, they ignored my concerns. During that week, my mother suffered four strokes. The facility dismissed the warning signs each day, forcing me to personally call for an ambulance. My requests for urgent medical help were disregarded by the staff. Although Rolling Meadows has an appealing Victorian style and is physically clean, its staff are unable to provide appropriate care for our loved ones. Our trust and financial investment go wasted as the home doesn't deliver the professional service they promise. My advice is to make unscheduled visits when considering care homes. Check directly with your loved one about how they are treated, the quality of the food and activities, and their overall happiness. Their truthfulness is more reliable than anything you'll hear from the staff.

"Rolling Meadows: Spacious rooms, friendly staff, needs outside maintenance."
Rolling Meadows is a cool place. [Name] was super nice and showed me around when [Name] was busy elsewhere. The rooms are bigger than I thought, with mostly half baths; a few have full baths. The house was tidy, but the outside needs some fixing. They plan activities, but I didn't see any during my visit.

"Colorful Assisted Living with Some Activity Lacking"
During my visit, Manager [name removed] was really helpful. The place was clean and colorful. There was a schedule for activities, but nothing was going on when I was there. Everyone seemed to be watching TV. It's a decent choice if you're on a budget for Mom.

"Friendly staff, feels like home, minor initial issues"
I looked at many places before I found this one. It felt like home right away. The staff was friendly. I talked to other visiting family members which helped me see the level of care. We had a few small problems at first, but that's normal. My sister is very happy there and tells everyone how well she is treated.

"Grandma Thrives in Her New, Caring, and Fun Home"
My grandmother really loves her new home. The food is great, and she stays busy all day with her new friends and activities. I feel confident she’s well taken care of. The place feels like one big family.
