"Assisted Living Nightmare: Price Hikes, Poor Communication"
My family member stayed there for 2 years. Since they moved in, the monthly price went up a lot. They also started charging for every little thing you can imagine. When Promedica took over, things got worse. Their billing invoices never came by the 10th of the month, even though they kept saying they should be paid by then. There's no way to contact anyone in the billing office. There's no name or contact info. You can only contact the manager at Springhouse, which has nothing to do with billing. Stay away!

The community was sometimes understaffed, but the spacious bedroom was nice. Consider other options.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Diversity and Accessibility"
Springhouse of Pikesville didn't seem to have many different kinds of people. As a person who's different from most others, you want to feel comfortable. You get a sense if people are welcoming or not - just a feeling you get. And I didn't feel welcomed. The person in charge was okay, but as we walked around, I didn't feel a good feeling or welcoming environment from the other people. I didn't like how the building was laid out - I thought the hallways were too long. From the outside, it looks very fancy, and it's in a good spot up on top of a hill away from traffic. But I didn't like that the place for people with memory problems was across the street, which wasn't easy for my loved one in assisted living to get to and see his wife in memory care. And I just didn't feel like they tried to get us to join them very well.

They seem to take good care of my family member. The staff is pretty good, and everything is clean.

"Decent Activities, Needs Better Care and Transport"
The fun stuff here is okay, but the bus that’s supposed to take us to cool places is broken. Plus, even though there are lots of different things to do during the day, they’re all kinda the same and don’t get us moving much. And when we need to talk about health stuff, it feels like no one’s really listening or doing what they said they would.

"Homey Community with Good Care"
About 90 residents receive assistance here. Memory care is in a separate building next door. The healthcare is good, with nursing, a doctor, and regular evaluations. The dining areas and happy hour spots are nice. There’s also an outdoor patio with a BBQ, and moving in might be negotiable.”

"Mixed Feelings About Medicine, Overall Positive Experience"
I liked most things about this place, but the way they gave out medicine worried me. They didn't always get it right for my family member. Still, I think it's a good place overall. The rooms were nice, and they had different sizes to choose from.

"Abysmal Care and Neglect at Assisted Living Facility"
When we first checked out this assisted living center, they made so many promises. As long as the resident can handle their own needs, it's fine. But if they need help, forget it. They left my family member alone without help. No feeding assistance, no help with laundry, cleaning was nonexistent. Her room looked like a tornado had ripped through it. Clothes everywhere, no sheets on the bed, and food scattered around. She smelled terrible, had crusty eyes and nose. She had been stuck in bed unattended for nearly a week and there were items missing from her room. When I finally saw the room, I was speechless. Tragically, my family member passed away the night I decided to bring her home with me. The doctor and the care center share the blame for her death. Turns out the doctor wasn't even visiting her. He predicted she had six months left to live, she died a month later. The caregivers seemed angry, even resentful. They’d take a half-hour before responding to her calls for help. They seemed indifferent to her needs. The facility wouldn't allow me to pack her things. They threw her belongings into boxes without care. Broken and tangled items, including a special jar and a basket missing. They hurriedly cleared out her room with no regard for her belongings. Her clocks and a music box were wrapped in her clothes. I regret not taking photos of the mess to share. I wouldn't trust this place to care for my dog. The manager promised they were caring for my family member, but it was all talk.

"Neglect and Disregard Apparent at Springhouse of Pikesville"
If you cherish your mom and wish to ensure her needs are met properly, then the 'Springhouse of Pikesville', which claims to be a safe haven for moms, is not the place. The staff is minimal and poorly compensated. There's disregard for necessary procedures. Missed medication schedules are common here. Some nurses neglect their duties if they happen to dislike your loved one. Required training courses are often overlooked. Document organization and upkeep are severely lacking. Their primary concern rests with filling beds to keep the money flowing. They will suggest you hire personal care if your loved one requires comprehensive attention. Isn't that the purpose we seek these facilities for? The aides try their best with the limited training and low wages they get. A few of them genuinely care. But, if chores are mishandled at the top, the negligence trickles down the chain.

"Neglect and False Promises Plague Assisted Living Facility"
I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. I believe they neglected my friend leading to her death, considering they ignored her when she fell ill instead of hospitalizing her. I had to step in and call 911 since her severe fever was not being attended to. The level of cleanliness was disgraceful; they even left food in her room for three days straight, though she was too unwell to consume it. They showed zero regard for their patients’ care needs, and the care provided was substandard. My friend was visually impaired, yet she received no extra support despite their assurances. The facility simply offered empty promises and lacked follow-up actions. No one aided her with dining, though they promised to do so multiple times.

"Think Twice: Early Promises Unkept at Springhouse"
Our first meetings at Springhouse were promising. They said they'd improve the things we asked for and the staff was kind so we believed them. We've been living here for over a year and things haven't gotten better, they've gotten worse. The shared spaces are disappointing. The furniture is outdated and filthy. There are stains on the carpets and even the outside area isn't very clean. The shutters are also faded. The food has gone downhill too. It doesn't have any flavor and they keep serving the same dishes. The spaghetti and meatballs they served last night were covered in BROWN gravy! However, I will say that the nursing staff, caregivers, and med techs are excellent. They're good at their jobs and always caring. We really enjoy their company. The rest of the staff is also nice and the other residents are great people. They're supportive in hard times and they know how to have a good time. But, in the end, whatever you see when you first arrive is probably what you're going to get. Definitely try the food at the dining room a few times before deciding on moving here. If you care about tasty, healthy meals, you might want to reconsider.

"Concerned About Care Quality and Communication!"
The meals were alright and they had activities. The place was tidy. The workers were kind and welcoming to us. But, we had worries because our family member wasn't bathed or cleaned up when we visited. We got confusing and wrong details because the staff didn't communicate well with each other. We didn't get his intake results until nearly two weeks later. The person who helped us sign him up didn't tell us they wouldn't be our point of contact after he moved in.
