"Ledgeview's Lousy Care: Elder Neglect, Isolation, Staff Incompetence"
Neglected and Unsafe: Ledgeview's Decline in Quality Assisted Living Care". Since the last post from 2012, things have taken a turn for the worse at Ledgeview. Most of the staff lack proper training in caring for elderly and have no real understanding on how to deal with people nearing the end of their lives. My father-in-law was cornered and severely criticized for his eating habits without understanding he had dementia. They either stuck him alone or forced him to eat in his room. It's heartbreaking, especially when he's already feeling down, and isolating him just worsened the situation. We’ve also learned that Ledgeview’s owners fail to conduct background checks on their staff, which is greatly concerning. When it came to his end-of-life medication, they kept it locked and we had to contact the owner just to get access. We have reason to suspect some concerning the medication and residents' personal items. Were it not for his hospice care, who knows what might have happened. Once, they left him sitting in a dirty diaper for over 6 hours, apparently assuming the hospice team would take care of it when they arrived. This kind of treatment is completely out of line. We ultimately had my father-in-law moved to the Gosnell Home where he received compassionate and honorable care until he passed away. I wouldn’t subject another family member to living at Ledgeview. We received nothing resembling respect or dignity during this challenging time.

"Lacking in Dignity and Care - A Heartbreaking Experience"
Since the last review in 2012, the quality at Ledgeview has unfortunately gone downhill. Most of the staff do not possess the proper elder care training and are ill-equipped to handle end-of-life needs. My father-in-law's dining habits were not understood and he was punished for what was actually a symptom of his dementia, forced to eat alone or in his room despite dealing with loneliness and depression. Alarmingly, we learned that the facility does not conduct necessary background checks on staff, creating an insecure environment. Attempts to access needed end-of-life medicine were challenging, as medications were locked away and the keys were only accessible through the owner. Additionally, things were happening involving medications and residents' personal belongings that were concerning. His hospice care was the only consolation. There was an incident where my father-in-law was left sitting in his soiled diaper for over six hours because staff knew hospice would be arriving later—this was absolutely disgraceful. During the final moments of his life, we chose to move him to Gosnell Home where he was treated with the respect and care he deserved, an experience vastly different than our time at Ledgeview. I would highly recommend not placing your loved ones in this facility, as throughout this tough period, they failed to extend any level of dignity or understanding to our family.
