"Poor communication and dirty conditions; not recommended for respite care."

Don't send your loved one here for respite care. My mom had a bad time. She was scared, didn't get the help she needed, and came home dirty. The people at The Highlands didn't talk to me much. I was on a trip, and even though my mom sent urgent emails, they didn't respond. She needed help, but they didn't help her. I couldn't get in touch with them to fix things. I didn't know who was in charge or what was happening. Covid made things worse. My mom was alone in her room, and the staff changed a lot. I couldn't keep track of who was who. Weekdays and weekends were very different. The weekend staff were especially bad and made everything more confusing.

"Updates Underway at The Highlands Assisted Living Facility"

The Highlands isn't brand new but is getting updates in places, like the fitness and pool areas. The facilities are nice, meeting expectations. It looks like they have everything needed to keep improving. Sometimes the meals are great, sometimes they're not, according to our loved one.

"Assisted Living Review: The Highlands is helpful, communicative, and comforting despite Covid restrictions."

The Highlands has been great. They assisted with the move and are working hard to make our loved one feel at home. They keep us updated well, even with Covid rules.

"Great for loved ones, but maybe not full care."

I talked to [name] at the Highlands, and she was super nice! We planned a virtual tour, but they called the next day. They felt they couldn't provide the care my Mom needed and apologized a lot. I wish we'd met before deciding. They mentioned having 6 levels of care earlier. Overall, it's a good place, but maybe more like assisted living or slightly above. Not sure since we never zoomed to see their care.

"Poor treatment when additional care was needed."

My granny stayed in this home for more than 15 years, first in a condo and then in assisted living. But when my dad fell ill and needed help with his memory, they turned distant. They found out about his requirements and just ignored us despite us reaching out three times with phone calls and messages.

"Welcoming community with adaptable homes and family feel"

A very welcoming community with different home options and abilities to adjust if needed. They gave a tour with great knowledge of senior living and made it feel like a family.

"Disappointing Experience at The Highlands Assisted Living Facility"

The Highlands seemed nice at first but had many problems. We put our mom there for six months but had to move her because they didn't have enough experienced staff, the food was bad, there were mice, and it cost too much for what we got. Then, new people took over, and things got worse. The food was so bad that we had to cook for our mom ourselves. They fired all the medical staff without telling anyone. We left because it felt like they cared more about making money than taking care of people. We found a much better place for my mom that's bigger and cheaper. The food is great, and there are always nurses around. We're glad we left The Highlands.

"Lovely staff but dark rooms and costly medication expenses."

The staff at this assisted living facility is excellent they're very kind, thoughtful, and well-qualified. The building itself is nice, but the apartment I stayed in was quite dark with not much sunlight coming through. Also, it ended up being too expensive for my budget. They require you to buy medications from their pharmacy, which turned out to be very costly.

"Concerns Over Care Availability at Assisted Living"

The Highlands was just fine. But what bothered me was that two out of the three CNAs, or caregivers, took their dinner breaks together. At the same time, the only caregiver left was busy with other folks, and there was someone who really needed help but had nobody to help them. That really put me off. I’ve decided this place isn’t right for my Dad. I just can’t be sure there’ll be someone there for him if he ever needs urgent help.

"Great Care at The Highlands!"

The Highlands is a really nice place! It’s a bit pricey, but my loved one feels safe and well-cared-for here. The staff is friendly and professional, and they listen to suggestions. They’re responsive and helpful. However, some administrative changes are causing issues. Better communication between shifts would be great. Overall, it’s a nice place that takes good care of my loved one.
