"Friendly Staff and Great Activities!"

We picked American House Cottage because it’s close to our home, and the staff is really good. We like that it’s in a neighborhood, so we can take walks. The staff here cares a lot about everyone, and they’re always coming up with new activities for everyone. I’d tell others to check it out.

"Facility with a Pleasant Atmosphere but Lackluster Activities"

The location and building are nice. When I visited just after lunch, hardly anyone was around, which was disappointing. I expected to see residents out of their rooms doing activities. The tour focused more on showing open rooms than explaining the services and activities they offer. We're looking to improve my mom's quality of life and get her more active, but the tour didn't convince me this place would achieve that.

"Costly but welcoming assisted living with detailed tours and information."

When we arrived at this place for our tour, the staff greeted us promptly with friendly smiles. They showed us around and gave us a lot of useful information about the facility. However, I felt like this community was very expensive and too pricey for retirees.

"Name mix-up caused confusion and medication concerns"

My brother stayed at American House for a trial visit of four days. He wasn’t comfortable there and decided to leave after those four days. Having lived alone for his 94 years, he just couldn’t adjust to living with others. Our family didn’t have any issues with the facilities themselves, but we were concerned about a mix-up with his name. His ID said Harvey, but his real name is Henry. When I brought it up at the office, they also had it wrong. Such mistakes could cause problems, especially with medication. After they corrected the mistake, he was still upset because they called him Mr. Henry, which isn’t correct. If there was another Mr. Henry at American House, this could lead to medication errors. He is now at home with help from in-home care.
