"Better than Others, But Smaller Community Choice"
American House Kentwood is a really nice place. It was better than the other two communities we looked at. Even though American House was my second choice and a bit smaller, my loved one wanted something bigger.

"Pushy Sales Team at Assisted Living Facility"
Our family visited the assisted living facility in person, but the sales team was too pushy. It wasn't the best experience.

"Disappointing Facility with High Costs and Shared Bathrooms"
I really didn’t enjoy this place. It reminded me of a nursing home or even a prison. Instead of private bathrooms, everyone had to share, which doesn’t feel like you’re living on your own. The cost was way too much for what you get. The place didn’t look clean, and everything seemed old-fashioned.

"Assisted Living Facility Offers Safe Environment and Good Value"
"It's a place where your loved one will be safe. They take care of residents' needs and keep it pretty clean. Some staff are amazing, others just do their job. Overall, it's the best value I found."

"Tour Reveals American House's Competitive Amenities; Better Options Considered"
After touring, everything seemed good. We chose a better location and price. American House was otherwise comparable.

"Great Care, Terrible Food"
During my family member’s stay, the place saw some shifts in management. The folks who took care of the residents directly were really great. But, the meals served there were just the worst.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
We picked this community because it was affordable, in a good location, and recommended by people we knew. The room sizes were right for one person. However, we didn't like the management change during our short stay. The previous management lacked communication skills. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this facility.

"More assistance needed in assisted living facilities"
I think this place needs more help. The staff is okay, but they could be more attentive. The facilities are clean, but they could use some updates. Overall, it's alright, but there's room for improvement.

"Great care and consistency at American House Kentwood"
My father lived at American House Kentwood for 10 months and got great care. Even though he wasn't interested in activities, there were always options available, both at the home and in the community. The staff stayed consistent during his time there and were always ready to answer my questions. They were especially caring during his final days in hospice. When I asked if he was ready for hospice, he said he was, as long as he didn’t have to move from his room.

"Clean and Friendly, but Cozy Rooms"
The place is super clean and smells fresh. The rooms are smaller than other places we’ve seen, but the staff and director are really nice. The memory care area is small, though.

"Disappointment in Assisted Living Conditions Under American House"
My father's experience at this assisted living facility was terrible. They switch out their staff too often. Also, the path to his room was at times so smelly it made me feel like throwing up. The meals they served him were always just lukewarm. He once had a fall and we were not informed, we had to hear it from him. At the time when Oakcrest was managing the facility, I could have given them four stars, but now under American House, the place is full of problems. If you decide to let your relatives stay here, I wish you the best. Just keep in mind that you can always transfer if it doesn't meet your expectations.

"Diminished Quality at American House Assisted Living"
My dad was not comfortable here. There was a frequent change in workers. The hallway leading to his room smelled so awful it almost made me throw up. His meals weren't even heated properly. When he fell, the staff didn't inform us; we had to hear about it from him. Back when Oakcrest managed it, I would've given it a solid four stars, but American House has too many problems. If you're considering placing your loved ones here, I wish you luck. Keep in mind that there's always the option to move if it doesn't work out.

"Mom's Happy in American House Assisted Living"
Our mom's only been at American House for 2 weeks, so it's a bit early to say for sure how things are going. But, we can say that her first 2 weeks have been really good. The staff are super nice, always friendly, and really seem to care about giving mom the best care they can. Right now, mom's happy, and that's all we could hope for.

"American House: A Happy Start"
Our mom just moved to American House two weeks ago, so it's a bit early to make a final judgment. However, her initial experience has been positive. The staff are friendly, open, and dedicated to providing excellent care. So far, Mom is happy, which is all we could hope for.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
I called and talked to he about the assisted living facility. They have a vacant single room with a living/bedroom and a half-bath. The monthly cost for mid-level care is $3600, and they'll conduct an assessment. There's a $500 fee upon acceptance, but I forgot to ask about doctor appointments. Good news: they currently have vacancies!

"Nice Facility but Concerned About Room Location"
I toured the place and it seemed nice. But, the room they're offering is far from the dining room. I worry about my grandpa walking that far.

"Friendly and qualified staff, undergoing remodeling, needs some care."
The people who work here seem really good at their jobs and nice. The building is getting fixed up but could use some more attention and care.
