"Disappointing Experience at Bickford, Unresponsiveness and Missing Items"

At first, the workers at Bickford were warm and took care of the residents well. But, when some of those staff members left, things started to feel different. My mom's personal stuff like towels, sheets, socks, and blankets began disappearing. I kept asking about it, but no one seemed to know where her things were going. Also, they weren't always on top of the laundry and sometimes, it would be gone for longer than a day. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend Bickford to anyone. I've been trying to sort out a bill issue they sent to collections, but no matter how many times I've left messages, nobody's returning my calls. On top of this, their service charges seem too high for the level of care they offer, especially if you look at other places.

"Challenges Persist at Assisted Living Facility"

They recently hired a full-time director, but some issues were beyond their control, like broken water pipes closing the salon. A couple of aides quit—one is on maternity leave. CareWell handles Medicaid waivers, but it takes 6 to 8 months. The new director, , might improve things if she stays. Staff turnover remains a challenge. Our main problem is the long wait for Medicaid waiver evaluations.

"Decent Facility, Needs Better Communication"

I've got some mixed feelings, but I think we'll figure out the problems. They need to get better at talking to us. I chose this place because it has enough staff and it's near my home.

"Good Staff, Not Enough Hands, Needs Better Food"

Other places might pick one or both or none. I think the main problem is getting workers who are really good. The food could be better too. The workers who are there are awesome, but they’re doing too much. Some are doing two or three jobs all at once. I do like the folks there; they’re trying hard. It’s just that there aren’t enough of them.

"Caring Staff and Engaging Activities Create Supportive Environment"

The staff at this assisted living facility have been really nice and helpful. Some of them even stayed with our family in the apartment when my dad was passing away. It showed how much they care about our parents. Some of the staff have learned what my mom likes and bring her things like flowers, candy, and hugs. They check on her randomly to make sure she's okay, even without her calling for help. There are plenty of activities for the residents to do, which is great.

"Homey Atmosphere, Friendly Staff, Higher Cost and Limited Memory Care"

I liked Bickford of Battle Creek. It felt cozy and welcoming. It’s an older place but well-maintained. We checked out both assisted living and memory care. The memory care rooms are smaller compared to another place we saw, and there aren’t many of them. Assisted living has more rooms though. The staff I met were nice. [Name removed], who showed us around, was great. She followed up but wasn’t pushy. Just very kind. She even made a little gift for my mom and me a certificate of encouragement which was thoughtful. Overall, Bickford is a bit pricey, and my mom prefers a location nearer to other family.

"Home-like Setting with Issues; Strong Hospice Relationship"

Bickford feels like home, cozy and friendly. But, they have problems with staff and technology. The key fobs often don't work, so we wait to come and go. However, they work well with hospice and are accommodating as residents' health declines.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living Facility"

We weren’t pleased with the care provided to my father. The place didn’t have enough staff and didn’t pay much attention to his needs. On the bright side, the person in charge of activities was really kind, and my dad enjoyed the meals. However, they’re having a tough time dealing with COVID-19 at this location. I wouldn’t suggest this place to other people.

"Mixed Experience in Assisted Living: Staffing and Transition Challenges"

I feel like things are changing there. First, they changed the Director, then COVID hit, and they had trouble with staff. I'm not sure if every place had this problem. I'm giving them a rating, but I don't really have anything to compare it to. They're supposed to be for people who need a lot of help, but my family member needed full care. Some of the staff were really nice, but others weren't as good. The new Director has only been there for three weeks. The place was clean. They let two people visit hospice residents. I don't think they provided the level of care I was hoping for my family member.

"Lack of Activities Raises Concerns at Assisted Living Facility"

I went to check out this place with my mom. It seemed alright. They served homemade meals that looked tasty, and the staff paid attention to everyone. But I noticed they didn’t have a spot for activities, like games or puzzles. That worried us because we wanted my dad to stay active. In the end, mom and I felt like they cared more about filling spots than looking after people. The folks we talked to seemed more like salespeople than caregivers.

"“Positive Changes at Bickford Assisted Living”"

After visiting other places, we chose Bickford because the staff really cares about the residents. They made my father-in-law feel welcome and included. When we noticed he was wearing the same clothes, they suggested new ones. Now he’s sleeping better and has a better attitude. We’re impressed after just one week.

"A Caring Place That Makes a Difference"

We chose Bickford because the staff really cares about residents. They even gave my father-in-law a nickname and included him in activities. When we realized he was wearing the same clothes as when he arrived, they suggested new ones. Now he sleeps in his bed for the first time in years and showers more often. His mood is happier, and he's joking like he used to. We're impressed with the changes after just one week.

"A great, affordable, and welcoming place for loved ones"

We toured many places, but we were really excited about Bickford. It’s affordable and feels like home! Everyone there is really nice. They even let you bring pets. The food is great too.

"Clean and striving"

The common areas and dining space are tidy and well-maintained. There's usually something happening in the shared living room with the residents. We've encountered some issues with damp laundry not being put away, but they're actively addressing that. Overall, our family appreciates the facility, but we believe it's essential to keep monitoring everyday tasks—ensuring our mother attends meals, participates in activities, and maintains regular hygiene.

"Food and Activities Need Improvement"

At Bickford of Battle Creek, the food could be better. They serve canned vegetables. They're trying to fix it. Also, the activities are planned, but not always done. They help with any problems I have. Overall, it's been okay.

"Small Facility with 39 Apartments Offers Memory Care"

This small facility has only 39 apartments. It’s clean, friendly, and offers memory care. The price of $5810 per month includes cable and wristbands, with a $500 deposit. The staff is friendly and there are plenty of activities. They’ll complete an assessment to determine the needed level of care.
