"Family Experiences Monetary Scam and Neglect"
My stepdad stayed at the Birchwood assisted living facility in Chelsea before switching to the Ann Arbor location on Liberty Road with my Mom. The owner irresponsibly offered my mother his own mother's medication in an attempt to control her mood. There's only one nurse on staff across their five locations. The highest-ranking staff member is cruel, she's a prolific liar, and only values her personal belongings. We initially found the accommodations agreeable until my mother had a firsthand experience of their operations. This employee repeatedly confiscated my mom's mobile phone and stopped her from getting calls by locking it away. They began providing schizophrenia medication to my mom, which she does not require, without explanation. When my mom declined a dose one day, the head staff — she's not a registered nurse, mind you — secretly mixed it in her coffee. The owner committed fraud, demanding upfront payment for three months — that's $6400 — even though she was only responsible for two before her long-term care coverage went into effect. Even after receiving the insurance payment, he stubbornly refused to reimburse us close to $5000. We had to engage a lawyer to dispute this, but he still hasn't settled his debt. They expelled my mom from the facility in [date] due to her mental degradation from unnecessary psychotropic medication. We never got a refund on our deposit. My stepdad, now with severe dementia, stayed behind but my mother and I were forbidden from visiting him. Control of his affairs shifted to his daughters at that point. Eventually, my stepsisters sent them a 30-day notice of our intention to relocate him, yet they also never received his deposit back. I strongly discourage placing any family members in a Birchwood facility. Lastly, it's dire to note another resident who had been so desperate to leave, she threw herself onto the floor from her wheelchair in a heart-wrenching suicide attempt.

"Unqualified "Nurse" At Birchwood Manor Has Bad Temper"
I spent five years living at Premier, now known as Birchwood Manor, in Ann Arbor. The person claiming to be a "nurse" there doesn't hold an RN license. Be sure to ask her to show you her University of Michigan diploma and license. Her name has been omitted due to privacy reasons; however, it seems she has a habit of dishonesty. Please be cautioned, she's got an awful temper you don't want to experience. And she's supposed to be caring for the residents of two other Birchwood houses as well.

"Unqualified Nursing Staff at Birchwood Manor"
I was a resident at what's now known as Birchwood Manor in Ann Arbor for half a decade. Their so-called "nurse" isn't a Registered Nurse at all. You should ask her to show her nursing certificate and university diploma from University of Michigan. Her name is . She has a habit of not telling the truth. Also, be careful not to upset her because she has a very bad temper. Additionally, she is in charge of nursing at two more Birchwood locations.

"They don’t provide resident engagement."
This place is nice, and the food is homemade. But, they don’t have enough caregivers to give the right care for my mom. They can’t do one-on-one care. Also, there aren’t many activities. If you’re independent and don’t need much individual care, you might want to consider this home.

"Gail Saved the Day"
We put Mom in one place, but it didn't work. Gail helped us find another fast. Mom's been there 5 weeks and feels like she works there
