Brookdale Battle Creek Assisted Living

"Nice Place with Good Activities and Food, but Pricey for Some"
Living there costs a lot, so you need to have money. But it's nice, with fun things to do and tasty food if you can pay for it.

"Mixed Experience with Staffing Issues"
The overall experience was positive, despite some housekeeping issues. Staff shortages contributed to the problem, but I’d still recommend it to others.

""Brookdale Battle Creek: Dirty, Unfriendly, Shows Poor Care""
My family member used to live at Brookdale Battle Creek and it was awful. The place wasn't clean or friendly at all. The care provided by the staff was also poor. Even zoo animals get treated better than the people living there. I would strongly advise against anyone choosing this place.

"Friendly staff, clean, quiet, personal attention."
I have and will recommend them to others. Caring, friendly staff, reasonably clean building, and a quiet neighborhood. They have open rooms and fewer patients, so staff have more time for each person.

" Poor Experience with Brookdale, Better Care Found Elsewhere "
My family had a bad time with Brookdale. After my mother-in-law had lived there for half a year, they found bedbugs in her bedroom. They attempted to blame this on her, which was not fair. The food wasn't decent either. They would serve cold oatmeal for breakfast and more issues were there as well. When we decided to relocate her, my daughter, who is the Power of Attorney, emailed the director multiple times asking them to provide her with the final bill. They returned with threats of late charges on the bill months later. My daughter had saved copies of all her emails, and she also verbally requested for the final bill. Since we settled the payment, we haven’t had any more communication with them. My mother-in-law is now at a different place that's been absolutely amazing.

"Affordable with discrepancies in pricing; Overall good for residents."
I think the costs they told us about were way off from what we got charged. But if it's cheap enough for someone, it's a good spot to have a family member stay.

"Price increase is high, but care staff is amazing."
I guess price increases happen every year, but 13% is ridiculous. And having only 30 days to come up with that money is crazy. I need more help understanding expectations since I work full-time. The only answer I get is, "read your contract." But, I want to say the care staff here is amazing!

"Unfriendly staff, dim facility. Tour was disappointing."
I visited this place with my family. The people who worked there weren't very nice. It was kind of clean, but the building looked old and gloomy. I wouldn't tell my friends or family to choose this place.

"Poor Care and Frequent Hospital Visits Plague This Facility"
Avoid this place... The ladies who manage it are terrible!!! They barely took good care of my family member, who ended up in the hospital more often than she stayed there.

"Nice place with some old vegetables"
My loved one always finished their food, so I think they liked it. They joined in some activities and seemed to have fun. They adjusted quickly. The place is nice and well set up. My only worry was the vegetables, which were sometimes old, especially the broccoli.

"“Nice Assisted Living with Great Nurses”"
Make sure you get everything in writing about the money stuff. They need to fix their billing system. Check that your monthly bill is being paid. The nurses are great and do a good job. I’d recommend it because it’s a nice place, and my loved one has adjusted well.” And the headline:

"Comfortable Care in New Assisted Living Community!"
My mom just moved into this new place, and things seem pretty good. It's a newer place, so I think they'll get better with time. The people who work here are nice, and I feel okay about how they're taking care of my mom right now.

"Great care and value for mom"
We’re really pleased with the care my mom is receiving. The staff are nice and always pay attention to what she needs. The place is clean and a great setting for her. We both like the meals served. My mom stays busy with many of the activities. We’d recommend this place for its good care and value.

"Staff Cares, Facility Needs Some Improvements"
The staff is super friendly and helpful. They really care about the residents’ well-being. The facility looks nice overall, but the dining area is a bit plain. Also, the memory care unit lacks in-room showers.

"Mixed Feelings About This Assisted Living Community!"
We had to leave this place since they couldn't meet my wife's care needs. They made us pay extra for things that some of their team wasn't skilled enough to help with. Some of the workers are friendly, but others aren't. The food is fairly tasty. This place isn't managed as well as other similar places nearby. I'm not totally convinced that I would suggest this place to others.

"Great Place, But Needs Some Tweaks"
They do a good job overall. It would be better if we could control the heat in our own rooms. It's centralized heating, and it's really hot in there. The common areas are a perfect temperature, but the rooms feel like a sauna. It would be nice if they washed clothes by room instead of all together because clothes go missing or you end up with other people's stuff. The food is good, and there are no complaints about the activities. They want to do bathing on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which seems odd. It's two days between baths, then five days until the next one. They could space it out more evenly, like three days and then four days. The staff is pretty friendly, and the more experienced ones are better at adjusting to the residents' personalities.

"Homey and Comfortable Assisted Living: Sterling House Review"
Mom and I went to Sterling House today. Surprisingly, we both liked it! Their dog was a nice addition because we love dogs. It felt cozy and nice. The people living there said good things without being asked. We'll remember this place for sure!

"Workers Struggle with Memory Patients; Might Hire Outside Help"
The workers aren't really able to calm down folks who have memory problems and are acting out because they're angry or frustrated. The activities are kind of basic and might not be well-planned or easy for all the people with memory issues to do. If you have a family member who is easy-going, happy to just sit around, and doesn't need much, then the care here is probably okay, because the place is clean, the food is decent, and the basic care is good. But if you have someone who needs more than that, I don't think they can handle it. And I heard that if your loved one needs more help, they might hire an outside company and not even tell you.
