"Fears Over Neglect and Abandonment at Assisted Living Facility"
My friend lives in this assisted living place and I'm worried. The scariest incident was when he fell and banged his head in the parking lot. It was a whole hour before anyone found and helped him. Thank goodness they took him to the ER. Another day, I came to visit and found him wandering the hallway. He was only wearing an open bathrobe. His hair was a mess, he needed a shave, and his nails were dirty and long. I guided him back to his room. The workers jokingly said, "That's just how he is." My friend may be aging and becoming forgetful, but this isn't the care his family pays for. One time, I saw medications on the floor and in cups by his bed. I asked the staff about it. They said residents can refuse their meds. That might be true, but for someone who's confused and has dementia, you'd think they'd actually make sure he takes his meds. Be careful with this place.

"Struggles with Intensive Dementia Care Needs"
The facility struggled to keep pace with the rapid decline in memory care and the ever-changing needs for assistance. We received numerous calls about issues we expected the staff to manage. This place may suit those who mostly can take care of themselves.

"Beautiful facility with great activities but very expensive"
I really liked Brookdale Grand Blanc. The grounds were beautiful, and since it was a bigger place, I thought they probably had more resources than others. They seemed to offer great activities for the residents all day long. It might have been our top pick if it weren’t for the very high price.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
During my loved one's stay, there was a COVID outbreak. They didn't tell me about it, which was disappointing. It made it tough for my loved one to be at the community. Also, my loved one fell during their stay. I feel like the staff weren't as attentive because of the pandemic. At first, the staff seemed friendly.

"Mixed Experience: Great Tour, Unpleasant Room Odors"
"Our family visited the facility in person for a tour, which was really good. The building inside and out looked very nice. However, the rooms we saw had a strong urine smell, which left a negative first impression."

"Lack of Timely Care and Cold Meals at Assisted Living Facility"
The assisted living facility provides alarm pendants for residents to call for help. However, my parents often waited 45 minutes or more before receiving assistance. My mom, who couldn't walk, needed help getting to the bathroom, and this delay was unacceptable. Additionally, there were days when they didn't receive any coffee, juice, or food by 11:30. The meals were sometimes cold upon arrival. Despite paying for 'full staff' service, it's disheartening to see $8000.00 per month spent while our loved ones aren't properly cared for.
