"Terrible Staff and Poor Communication at Brookdale Southfield"
Avoid Brookdale Southfield at all costs. Even though the place looks pretty good, the people running it are terrible. They're cold, uncaring and all over the place. They don't bother returning calls, text messages or even emails. They even took money out of my late father's bank account without permission, even though we had given them notice about his passing a month earlier. Nobody could give me a straight answer about this! Too many times, they just failed at communicating properly. To put it lightly, the staff is just plain bad.

"Great care and amenities with good value for the cost"
Overall, I’m pretty happy with this assisted living community. The place is comfortable, well-maintained, and the staff is really friendly and respectful. Even though I haven't needed personal care yet, seeing how they take care of others makes me feel confident for when I do need it. You get two meals a day included with your rent, and there’s a nice variety for breakfast and dinner, plus low-sugar desserts. They offer lots of activities and outings like billiards, movies, and a library. There’s also a pool and a nice outdoor area. The cost seems fair, and they might adjust it if needed. They have a shuttle and van for getting to doctors, shopping, and other trips. They even go beyond their usual 15-mile range to take you to the VA, which is just 2 miles away. They’re always happy to answer any questions you have.

"Great place with excellent staff, food, and activities"
My loved one lives at Brookdale Southfield, and everything is great. The place is awesome! The staff, cleanliness, friendliness, food, and activities are all wonderful. I would recommend this place to family and friends!

"Needs Better Staff and Food Options"
The assisted living place looks good and they have fun stuff for my family member to do. But the workers there aren’t great, and my family member doesn’t like the meals. If they don’t want what’s being served, they only get to pick between a hot dog or a burger. We need our own people to watch over my family member because the workers at Brookdale Southfield have almost let them fall a couple of times. Sometimes, the workers don’t even come. So, one of us stays over at the place with them. It’s not at all like what I hoped for. The workers seem like they don’t have much experience and don’t really care about the residents. At night, there are only three workers for 200 people living there.

The community is super friendly. The place is really nice and well taken care of. The staff is excellent.

"Friendly staff, but office and maintenance need improvement."
Brookdale Southfield feels like a real community with a family atmosphere. Everyone is very nice, from the cleaning ladies to the daily staff, nurse practitioners, and nursing assistants. However, the office staff could be better. They need to communicate more and respond faster. It's also hard to get maintenance to follow through with requests.

"Good Tour, Chose Different Facility for Location Reasons"
Our family had a virtual tour, and it went well. They showed us different rooms and kept in touch with us after the tour. Everything was good, but we chose another place because it was more convenient for us.
