"At First Glance Great; Hidden Disrespect Disappoints"
When I visited this care home, everything looked great at first. All the staff were smiling and seemed nice. But when they thought no one was listening, they said some mean stuff about the people living there. It was pretty upsetting. Luckily, I decided to move my mom to a different place nearby instead. Her new room is bigger, costs less, and the service seems way better.

"Understaffed Facility with Questionable Emergency Response Systems"
They're clearly understaffed. The emergency button's effectiveness depends on the brand of cellphone the caretakers use. Had to go to the hospital twice in just 9 days. The cost for these 9 days? Exorbitant (they wouldn't let me state the amount). I regret not researching more before choosing this place.

"Mixed Experience at Charter Senior Living"
We picked Charter Senior Living due to its convenient location, nice facility appearance, and the staff's persuasive pitch. Room sizes are satisfactory. Initially, the food rated a 5, but declined after the main chef left. Recently, a new cook is starting, raising hopes for improved quality. Overall, I'd recommend it to others searching.

"Headline: "Horrible Management and Practices at Senior Living Facility""
I'm going to be straight up - if I had the option to rate this facility any lower, believe me, I would. My mom lived in this place around [dates removed]. When she first moved in, I'd say things were pretty decent. There was a top-notch director and I felt like the owners and managers kept me in the loop. But that all changed when Charter Senior Living took the reins. For maybe the first year or so, they seemed alright. But things went downhill early this year when they decided to step down. Now, I get it, the whole COVID situation has got us all in a mess. But here's what made me shell out big bucks to change my own home and move my Mom in with me: 1) The Director peaced out 2) The staff started telling fibs to my mom about her doctor rides (she booked and confirmed rides but they said she didn't) 3a) One of the slew of "new" leaders this year, basically lied to me and wanted a second email to okay my Mom visiting us over Fourth of July. I followed their COVID rules in their own email. Not sure why suddenly there's a need for email two? 3b) All this extra demand just stressed out their already overworked staff, since they weren't told of my Mom's departure. So they were rushed in getting all her meds sorted for her trip. 4) This one's a kicker: They sneakily hiked up my mom's rent without telling me (oh, by the way, I foot the bill all from my account). I’m fairly sure that’s not legal? Their cover? Supposedly having my wrong address. Funny how they had the right address when sending all the COVID-19 info and invoices through the mail. 5) Oh, and the manager after all this? Total attitude. Not too friendly when I confronted him about all of this. No qualms admitting I gave him a taste of his own medicine. 6) Learning about the three COVID scares recently? Through my mom, not the management. 7a) The latest manager had me jumping through hoops to serve notice for leaving. I even had to print emails between us and create a formal letter to ensure they didn't pull a fast one while we cleared out. 7b) After all this, they told my Mom the wrong date for her move (Hint: it was weeks earlier than what I had written). The final straw, 8) They let the November rent payment for Mom's room go through on my account. Now my account's $1700 deep in the red. Their explanation? They keep the charges until they’re "sure" the place is empty. So, somehow it's okay to leave payments in place 5 DAYS AFTER they’ve moved out. No surprise how I expressed my feelings over the phone, attitude or no. In short: steer clear. If you still think it's worth it after hearing this, be my guest. But for the rest of you - run. Run far, far away.

"Headline: "Untrustworthy Management and Poor Practices at Assisted Living Facility""
Negative Stars Deserved for Assisted Living Facility's Lousy Management" Honestly, and I know it's a saying, but if I was able to rate this place with a negative score, I definitely would. My mother was a resident here. The facility was okay for a while, around when she first moved in and up until Charter Senior Living took over operations. The original director was awesome and the management and owners were always good about keeping me updated. The problems started after Charter Senior Living took over. Well, the initial year or year and a half weren't terrible, it was when staff left early this year that things took a turn for the worse. I understand that COVID brought challenges for everyone, but the following issues forced me to spend a lot of money to modify my own home so my mom could live with us: 1) The staff left 2) The staff started deceitfully saying that my mom didn't schedule rides to her doctor appointments, which she had requested and confirmed 3) There were many new directors this year. One of them lied to me about needing a second email notification when I wanted to bring my mother home for the long weekend despite followed their posted COVID procedures. This caused a panic among the already overworked staff because they were rushed to prepare my mom's medications and other things for her departure. 4) They increased my mother's rent without telling me. Later, they justified this by claiming they had the wrong address on file. How is it possible that I'm receiving all other mails via USPS forwarding service, but not the rent increase notice? Something is off here 5) The interim director after this whole mess proved to be extremely difficult and had a really bad attitude 6) My mom was the one to let me know about three recent COVID scares at the facility. 7) The most recent director provided confusing directions about giving notice to vacate and I had to ensure he had all relevant information in writing to avoid problems during my mom's move-out regimentation 8) Even after she moved out, they continued to withdraw rent from my bank account causing an overdraft of $1700. Their excuse? They would continue withdrawals until a resident has "officially" vacated their place. This is even when she moved out as per schedule FIVE DAYS AGO. I've had enough of this facility, it's clear to me now that it is poorly managed and they're OK with awful business practices.

"Good Value with Staffing Challenges at Charter Senior Living"
Charter Senior Living offers good value despite current staffing challenges. Like many places, they struggle with hiring and retaining staff. The food is enjoyable, and the rooms and community layout are satisfactory, which influenced our decision to choose them. Additionally, they feature a pleasant outdoor courtyard.
