"Caring Assisted Living with Fun Activities and Birthday Treats"
They have a super organized and nice place for older folks. They do fun activities like bingo and crafts, plus live music sometimes. And on birthdays, they celebrate with cake!

"Memory Care Facility Falls Short on Activities, Charges After Death"
My dad stayed at the memory care unit for 10 weeks. He really didn't like it there. Most of the people who took care of him were nice, and I'm thankful for them. But there wasn't much for him to do. They didn't have many activities for people with advanced dementia. All he really did was eat three meals a day and watch TV. The food was just okay, and the residents' nails and hair were too long. When my dad got agitated, they gave him medicine, but sometimes it made him too sleepy and he fell down. I think the staff tried their best, but I never felt like we were part of the community, even though someone from our family was there almost every day. My dad passed away after 10 weeks. It was a relief. We moved all his stuff out within 14 hours of him passing. Then we got a bill saying we had to pay for 14 more days after he died. I think that's really unfair. It cost $22,417 for the 10 weeks he was there.

"Assisted Living Needs Some Tweaks, but Still Recommendable"
We chose this place because they seem to care for people living here and the location is good. The food could be better with more choices. It would also be nice if they had more music activities. I would tell other families about it.

"Care and Communication Concerns in Assisted Living Facility"
I had some problems with how well they took care of my family member and how the staff talked with each other. They didn't talk between shifts, so important info got lost. One time, my loved one didn't get their medicine for a long time.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
Some of the staff are really friendly and caring. The rooms are spacious and much nicer than the other place we considered. Negative: They’ve increased the price twice in the last three months.

"Great place with good meals and staff communication"
I recommend checking out this community to see if it suits your loved one. The staff keeps in touch well with family members. The residents get three meals a day, and my loved one is liking the food.

"Great Assisted Living Facility!"
The outside looked pretty normal, but the inside was really nice. The staff was super friendly, and [Removed] knew a lot. The place seems perfect for residents like my Mom. It's a caring environment, and it's definitely on my list.

This is a good place, the best we've found for my dad. He feels comfortable and safe here. He eats all his meals and gets plenty of care and space.

"Elmcroft of Downriver: A Bright, Attentive, and Happy Atmosphere!"

"Nice memory unit, but overall ambience needs work"
Someone mentioned this place had a stunning Atrium, like a comfy, enclosed outdoor space where folks could stroll around. But, it was mostly locked and didn't look too well maintained. It didn't really feel too welcoming or easy to get to. I did think the memory care part was pretty nice. The assisted living area had only shared rooms, which was a bit of a downer. Also, all those rooms seemed pretty dim.

"Disappointment over Elmcroft’s Poor Service and High Prices"
We're seriously let down by Elmcroft. It seems like there aren't enough employees on hand to look after our dear ones. When you ask a question, they aren't too friendly and it kind of feels like we're just annoying them. Our relative always appears as if they just rolled out of bed, and they're often seen in the same clothes for multiple days. We noticed that a lot of residents just sit alone in their rooms with the doors open, as if there's nothing else for them to do. It's also pretty pricey!

"Dark Spaces and Unpleasant Odors"
The memory care unit feels really gloomy and sad. Plus, it smells strongly of pee. In the assisted living part, things are okay, but the rooms are tiny, dim, and don't have windows in the living area.

"Majorly Unhappy with Assisted Living Facility's Lack of Care"
Really upset with the boss and the people in control. They don't make taking care of our family member a main goal, and they pull staff away to do kitchen jobs and other things instead of helping out the residents. The helpers for residents aren't trained right. They can't deal with people who have Alzheimer's or dementia right. They set up activities and the residents go to join in, but no-one is there to run the activity. So, the residents have nothing to do. The food is the same stuff all the time. No different options. They have a menu, but they don't stick to it. They give food that isn't good for older people.

"Morale Dips As Elmcroft Mismanages Assisted Living Facility"
My mom and our family initially felt content when she moved into the assisted living facility. However, after Elmcroft took charge, the quality of service dipped dramatically. It seemed apparent that the management just didn't care anymore. The Resident Assistants loved my mother, but soon her care was mishandled and fingers started pointing in all directions. Over a span of three years, the fees escalated by more than $1,000 monthly for the most basic level of care; this is incredibly disheartening. The lack of staff and their low spirits also added to this bleak scenario.

"Great activities and professional feel, with good dining options"
This place is really nice and very accommodating. Kim spent a lot of time talking to D and getting her involved. There are plenty of activities every day. The place feels more professional compared to Bellaire. D was worried it might be too fancy, but the dining options looked much better. More residents were out and about during lunchtime when we visited. I like the idea of trying out the respite care if needed.

"Great care, but no cooking allowed for residents."
This place is awesome! The people taking care of us are super nice and the folks living here seem really happy. But, you know what's not so cool? We can't cook our own food.

"Great care and tasty food for Mom"
I had to move Mom to an assisted living place because I couldn't take care of her at home. After checking out lots of places, I found that Elmcroft had the most helpful and caring staff. The price is fair for what you get. The food is really good, and Mom loves the desserts. So far, so good.

"Inconsistent Service at Chosen Assisted Living Facility"
I picked Elmcroft because of what they offer, but my experience hasn't been smooth. Many things we're supposed to get haven't happened. Sometimes there aren't liners in the trash cans, or they forget to provide diapers. The staff are nice and trying to help us. We hope they fix these problems soon. But for now, they're not following through on what we pay for, so I'd rate them a 3.
