"Good staff, but not enough for desired care."
Many things were missing from my husband's room and we couldn't retrieve all of them. The person across the hall had a lot of things in her room, at least we were able to retrieve those. The memory care unit seemed depressing, and it was hard to judge cleanliness. Staff was very friendly and helpful. While I was away, I had to text the director to get staff to take him outside. His visitors reported he was either sitting alone or pacing the halls. I found him walking upset in the halls when I picked him up. I don't know about the meals because my husband can't remember them. No feedback on activities except for one picture of him on the putting green. He didn't want to be there and kept trying to leave, so I don't think he was off the locked unit much. If he could have stayed in assisted living, I would have rated the value for money a 5. Although the memory care staff was very good, I'm not sure there were enough to provide the care I wanted for him.

"Mixed feelings about Avalon of Auburn Hills assisted living"
Consider checking out The Avalon of Auburn Hills. It's a pretty, clean, and modern place. The food is okay, though it might be better for those who can eat in the main dining room. My mom ate on her floor, in Memory Care dining, where they brought the food up. Most of the staff are nice. We visited a lot, so we talked to our family often. It might be a good idea to have soft flooring in the bathroom for people who tend to fall.

"Clean, modern facility with warm atmosphere; good care overall."
I believe The Avalon of Auburn Hills is a very clean and modern place, which I really like. My whole family is impressed with the facility, and it feels very welcoming and like a family environment. Overall, I think the care for our family member is good. We've had to remind them a few times about her diet, and sometimes that message didn't reach their food department right away. It took some time to coordinate, but we eventually got it resolved.

"Assisted Living Facility Offers Modern Amenities, Great Room Sizes"
The facility is very nice, new, clean, and modern. Rooms are spacious, with options for one or two bedrooms plus a separate living area. Staff are friendly and make an effort, though more training in memory care is needed. Meals are inclusive, served in a pleasant dining area.

"A Mixed Experience at Assisted Living"
During the pandemic, operating assisted living places became challenging. Long wait times and Mom's hesitation to ask for help led her to do most things herself, even in the bathroom—a safety concern. Despite her increased self-sufficiency, the care rate wasn't adjusted. Expired food and unsorted laundry were issues. Medtechs, who seemed inexperienced, caused problems. Now, we're owed overdue rent.

"Disappointing Experience At Assisted Living Facility Amidst Pandemic"
Understandably, our visit coincided with the Covid pandemic and the impending caregiver staffing crisis. Amidst the situation, a few workers stood out; specifically, three out of four receptionists who were really supportive, the fourth being rather unsympathetic. Furthermore, some care staff truly excelled at their jobs, although the head nurse fell disappointingly short. Bizarrely, we were only permitted to see our relative behind a full glass barrier and even access to their personal living spaces was restricted. Perhaps the most concerning of all was the unsatisfactory housekeeping; our dear one’s bedding was left unchanged for a shocking two months. Honestly, this left us with little faith in the quality of care provided.

"Disappointing Care and Food, Window Visits a Sole Plus"
I wasn’t really happy with the place. They kind of overlooked my family member and just brought food to them because of the health crisis. It felt like they didn’t really try to get my relative involved in the activities. The meals seemed like they were from a box or something. It looked like the folks running the place didn’t put much work into making the food good while everyone was sick. The food used to be nicer in the dining hall before all this started. The best part was when I got to see my family member through the window, that was the only good thing about their time there.

"Caring staff but disorganized; resident care suffers, poor communication."
Most of the workers are very caring, but they don't keep track of many employees. Because of this, the care for the residents isn't as good. Communication within the community wasn't good when I had to call for my loved one.

"Friendly and Social Staff, Good Value Assisted Living Choice"
"The staff at First & Main are friendly and social. Despite staffing issues during COVID, they excel when fully staffed. It's a good value, chosen for prioritizing resident care. They show genuine concern for everyone's well-being. Our loved one enjoys her comfortable one-room suite. She seems to really enjoy the food."

"Unacceptable Staff Behavior and Care in Assisted Living Facility"
The staff here frequently changes and their care is terrible. They don't seem to respect the families. When there's a problem or worry, no one takes responsibility. Many of the caregivers have bad attitudes and they are really the ones calling the shots. The people living here don't like it but seem scared to tell the management. Even with the new management introduced, I wouldn't suggest this place at all.

Frustrated Caretaker
"Frustrated Caretaker Details Poor Living Conditions and Staff Attitudes"
Don't let the fancy appearance of this assisted living facility fool you. There's a rampant problem with staff behavior, including poor attention to essential tasks like maintaining sanitary conditions in restrooms. Serious issues, such as uncleaned bodily wastes left unattended, are frequently ignored with caregivers deflecting responsibility and saying, "It's not my job." Consequently, our loved ones are left unable to use the facilities, which is not just an inconvenience, but it's also repugnant. The management doesn't consider complaints with the seriousness they deserve, reducing genuine grievances to petty "he said-she said" disputes. Many residents are dissatisfied but are too frightened to voice their concerns to those in charge. The arrival of a new management team hasn't improved matters, with unexpected charges showing up on invoices without proper communication. There's a noticeable lack of unity and cooperation among the caregivers and other staff members. Instances of rudeness towards family members are frequent, and those who dare lodge complaints are unofficially 'blacklisted' and their loved ones singled out for subpar treatment. The suggestion to reach out to the executive director, but fruitless as this doesn't solve any issues. I vividly remember my first encounter with the new director. When I expressed my dissatisfaction and desire to remove my mother from the facility, his arrogant response was, "would you like a referral?" - a response that epitomizes their dismissive attitude. In short, this facility turned out to be a disheartening experience for a caretaker hoping to find a safe, caring environment for an elderly loved one.

"Inadequate Staffing and Communication at Assisted Living Facility"
My mom fell last night and instead of informing me right away, the staff waits until 6 am the next day to break the news. This is absolutely below par for an assisted living home, as contacting the family is their responsibility. They don't even know what happened or why it happened. Currently, I am at the hospital with my mom. Their shortage of staff causes long delays in care provision to any resident.

"Wonderful Assisted Living Feels Just Like Home!"
This is the fourth, and BEST, place my mom has lived in the past year. The room setup is super comfortable, just like home. The bathroom has lots of grab bars, and the shower has a cushioned seat with easy access. The kitchen even has marble countertops! There's plenty of space for her wheelchair to move around. The living room looks out over a nice enclosed yard with flowers, trees, a putting green, and sidewalks for a pleasant walk on warm days. Mom misses cooking, so she met the chef (I think his name was [name removed]?), and he said he’d cook her favorite recipes if she gives him the recipes. I’m sure we’ll see Mom’s German Potato Salad on the menu soon. The food here is way better than at the other places she’s lived. Mom needs regular care, and she’s getting it! The caregivers are attentive and kind. When I visit, we hang out in the Bistro near the lobby, where there’s always free juice, tea, water, or coffee with fruit or cookies. In the winter, we’ll probably use the fireplace. There’s even a movie theater with free popcorn! There’s a chapel with a piano, and sometimes a singer comes to perform. Mom’s friends have visited and used the handy elevator to get to the dining area, which is big enough for everyone. They all felt well taken care of. I noticed the staff really cares about keeping the residents happy and well cared for. It’s as nice as home. I’d definitely recommend it!
