"Assisted Living Facility Needs Internet and Phone Improvements"
Mr. from Addington Place was super helpful. He went above and beyond his duty. But, they gotta work on letting residents use the internet and make long distance calls easier.

"Be involved, kind, and communicative for best care."
The biggest help was being kind, polite, and communicative with staff. I tried to understand when they had shortages or were stressed, and I helped when I could, like feeding my mom during mealtimes if I was there, instead of leaving all the residents to the staff. We never had any major issues. We were always welcomed, and we developed good relationships with all the staff. While not everyone was dedicated, we paid close attention to my mom's care, and the staff was always receptive to our requests or questions. I would recommend this facility to others, but you must be attentive to care and aware of what is happening with the staff. During my mom's time at Addington Place, they went through a management change, which changed a lot of things. You still have to be an advocate for your parent in a care facility. The more present you are, the better care they will receive. I believe this is true at any facility.

"Assisted Living Facility Offers Cozy, Safe Environment with Personalized Care"
The facility we chose had a cozy and friendly environment, which was our main reason for selecting it. It's smaller, with about 20 residents in assisted living, so the care feels more personal. Recently, both of my parents had heart incidents that were promptly addressed. Addington Place ensured they were transported to the hospital and handled everything efficiently. I feel reassured about the safety they provide. However, I wish there was more support specifically focused on memory care for them.

"Unreliable Medication Management and Staff Issues at Facility"
My mom's been living there for a few years. Despite our attempts to cooperate with them, they always fail to give her medications on time, even when they're given an entire hour. They can't even refill her prescriptions correctly or promptly. Just when I think things are going alright, some new problem pops up and my mom suffers because they can't maintain a good staff. Be cautious about this place.

"Mixed feelings about Addington Place's memory care unit experience."
I wouldn't suggest the memory care unit at Addington Place. The way they handle things worries me. Staff seem more interested in their phones than helping residents. I tried talking to the boss about it but got no response, which is upsetting. I asked why staff can use phones, and they said cameras aren't working, so they can't monitor it. Staff won't help residents with meals. There's no clear list of what they'll do for my loved one. I'm let down by Michigan for not regulating care properly. Meals consist of basic items like sandwiches and fries, not tailored to dietary needs. Activities are the highlight, though, with staff engaging residents in fun things like crafts and games.

The facility was excellent. I'd recommend it to others. The salesperson was very helpful. The rooms were spacious and well-designed compared to others I considered. Overall, it was a good experience.
