Landings of Genesee Valley

"Headline: "Neglectful Assisted Living, Promises Unkept, Only Looks Nice""
My mom stayed in this place for about a month. They promised to check on her every 2 hours, but when I visited, nobody came within a 3-hour span. My mom was left in dirty diapers and even caught a UTI. We told them many times that she needed to be positioned upright during meals, and even had to leave a note on the wall. But all they did was dump her food on the tray and leave. She never got a chance to eat in the dining area and nobody tried to persuade her to do so. We also asked several times for them to clean the floor because my mom's diaper kept leaking. They said cleaning is done weekly. We had to do it ourselves in the end. My dad told me that only one aide acknowledged him when he visited. The staff only gave us empty promises. She's now in a new place and is doing great. She looks forward to meal times in the dining room and staff check on her every 2 hours just as they promise. The only nice thing about the Landings is that it looks good on the outside.

"Mixed Feelings on The Landings: Caution Advised"
I was super excited to move my mom into The Landings because it's super close to where I live. But we waited like forever—three whole months—for a specific room to open up and get fixed up. They kept changing when we could move in—twice! Then, on the day we were supposed to sign all the papers, they told us they were changing how much we had to pay. Instead of everything being included, they wanted us to pay a set amount each month. We talked about how much it would be every month for two whole years, but then they changed their minds at the last second. It felt like they tricked us. If you're thinking about moving in here, just be careful. Make sure you get everything they say written down before you make any big decisions.

"Alert! Facility Disregards Contract, Adds Hidden Costs"
Be careful! My family and I had a written agreement with Homewood Village - Brookdale when we brought my mom here. Now that my mom needs hospice care, they're pretending that agreement doesn't exist. Simply adding more sorrow to our situation with heaps of additional charges. Their sales hack is nothing short of deceitful. Is this really a place of care, when they exploit people in this manner?

"Poor Maintenance and Disorganization at Assisted Living Facility"
This facility doesn't measure up. I noticed so many fixes on the walls and torn window screens coupled with broken windows. The memory care section seems very gloomy and sad. Also, it feels like there isn't much order there.

"Wonderful Care Home"
This community is really nice, and my husband is doing great since he moved here. Sadly, we'll have to leave soon because it's getting too expensive. I'll miss this care home—it's wonderful! The staff is amazing, caring, and kind. Everything is well taken care of. I'm satisfied with their help, and I'd recommend this care home.

"Watch Out: Empty Promises and False Care at this Facility"
They're nothing but selfish opportunists who profit off people when they're most hurting and vulnerable. The people running this place put on a really impressive show, making you believe they genuinely care about you and your loved ones. But it's just a convincing sales pitch. The moment they get your money, they quit pretending to care. The administration is absolutely awful.

"Caring staff who go above and beyond"
I really appreciate the time they spent helping us with our goals and guiding us on how to help our father adjust to the care facility. Their advice was very helpful and gave me a fresh perspective on the care options for our father. They made the transition of moving him in much easier. The staff has been exceptionally caring, and we were pleasantly surprised by how well he's adjusted to living there. They've gone above and beyond to make him feel at home with their special care and patience. It's clear that they truly care about the people they take care of.

"Satisfactory Care for Parents in Assisted Living, with Room for Improvement"
My parents are doing okay, and I'm happy with the care they're getting. The staff takes good care of them. They also like the food here. Sometimes I see fun stuff happening in the community when I visit my parents. My dad went on an outing once, but he didn't enjoy it much. They just drove around and got a snack. Maybe if they had a calendar of activities, more people would join in.

"Unhappy with Brookdale Genesee Valley's Service"
Our time at Brookdale Genesee Valley has sadly been unsatisfactory. The workers require enhanced training and more oversight. It seems like most of the time, he's left by himself instead of getting the service we're paying for. His bathing isn't as regular as it needs to be, he doesn't get help dressing, and his sheets rarely see a change. The facility appears decent, and the meals seem alright, so perhaps it's a better fit for someone requiring less assistance, but for our needs, it hasn't been effective.

Things have been okay so far, but management will soon change to Meridian. I've heard mixed things about Meridian, but let's wait and see. The care and facility upkeep haven't suffered yet.

"Needs Improvement: Staffing and Services Fall Short"
We’ve been here for less than a week, and we’re already noticing that some of the services we were promised haven’t been delivered. We’ve asked several questions, but haven’t received any clear answers yet. No one mentioned that moving in over the weekend might be tricky. It looks like there aren’t enough staff members here, and it’s even more noticeable on weekends.

My father-in-law has made great progress at Homewood Village of Genesee Valley. He is really thriving there. He is eating very well and staying active with their activities. They have done a wonderful job, and it has been a very positive experience for him and for all of us. I would definitely recommend them.

"Mom Happy, But Some Room for Improvement"
Homewood Village of Genesee Valley folks are super helpful. They're always ready to assist you with anything you need. Mom sometimes misses her scheduled baths and laundry isn't always on time, which bothers her a bit. So, it's not perfect. But, Mom's really content there, and overall, we're pretty happy. I'm relieved she's there.

"Mom and Dad’s Assisted Living Experience"
My parents both live here. The staff takes my mom to see my dad every day. The caregivers and healthcare are excellent. Even though I live out of state, they keep me updated regularly, sometimes multiple times a week. My brother and I couldn’t have picked a better place. You truly get what you pay for. However, they need to improve the meals.

"Wonderful Place for Assisted Living"
My mom has only been here a short time, but so far, we are really happy with our choice. She moved from a 2-bedroom assisted living to a larger room with a private bath. A nurse gives her medication twice a day. Every morning, someone comes to make her bed and do light housekeeping. Once a week, her room is cleaned thoroughly, and her laundry is picked up, cleaned, and put away. The dining room is just down the hall, where she gets three meals a day. There’s a list of activities she can join if she wants. Her hairdresser comes every Saturday, and there’s a nice salon she can use. Even though it’s on the 2nd floor, there’s an elevator. The staff is very friendly and has been great in helping her settle in. This has taken a huge load off us, since we were handling all these things daily. We feel she’s safe, clean, fed, and has everything she needs here.

"Mixed feelings about assisted living community, great location, studio rooms."
This place has nice grounds and is in a good location. It's really set up for people who need assistance, and they also offer memory care, which is good. But if I had to pick one thing I didn't like, it's the rooms. They're all studio style, which makes them feel a bit like private hospital rooms, and I'm not a fan of that.
