"Top-notch care, best choice in Escanaba for my mom!"
My mom has been taken good care of by the staff. We chose this place because it's the best in Escanaba.

"Mixed experience: Clean and good food, but staffing and access concerns."
Clean, good food, most staff are nice, BUT they need to stick to promises like having a nurse on duty. It took too long to replace the one that left. I worry when good workers leave because Northwoods management could fix the reasons. It’s hard to find replacements. Residents at the right care level should have the door code so they don’t have to wait outside. They should be able to take care of themselves and use the door as they want. Also, residents who can't clean themselves should be taught or moved to higher care levels. It's not pleasant to walk through and smell urine every day. Prospective residents and families might be turned away by the smell too.

"Expensive but Friendly Community with Outstanding Food"
It's a nice community with friendly people, but it's quite pricey. Not ideal for memory care.

"Friendly Staff, Quick Response, Meal Variety Needed"
The staff is super friendly and helpful. They respond quickly to call buttons. However, meals could use more variety.

"Needs Better Food: Residents Deserve Freshness"
The people working here are nice. But the meals? Not so much. They’re often either too cold or burnt. It’s like eating food from a can, and it’s always full of fat and sugar. I can’t remember the last time I saw a real, fresh veggie on the plate. It’s not just me; other folks living here say the same. They also talk about how the meat’s so hard, you can barely chew it. For a lot of us, looking forward to mealtime is a big deal. So, it would be great if the kitchen could step up their game with the food quality and cook it right.

"Executive Director's Absence in Afternoon Causes Frustration"
The Executive Director is NEVER there in the afternoons! I have questions and that's the only time I can contact or visit because of my job. I can't understand why someone in that role is never available then! It's so annoying! I got fed up and picked a different facility for my parents!

"NAME REMOVED"
The Registered Nurse Executive Director is always absent during the afternoons! I have some inquiries that can only be dealt with during this time, due to the constraints of my work schedule. I can't understand why someone in such a pivotal role is consistently unavailable during afternoon hours! It's hugely maddening, to the point where I've accepted defeat and chosen a different facility for my parents' care.' Director's Afternoon Absence Pushes Client Towards Different Facility

"Caring Environment for Loved Ones: A Solid A Rating"
My mom received great care here. JoAnne and I visited often before she passed away. We played cards with her and I took her downstairs for meals, but she wasn't eating much. One day, I noticed she was feeling down. I called her children and that cheered her up. Maybe I bothered the staff a bit, but it felt right. Yesterday, I found out she had been taken to the hospital. She had complained of a stomach ache, but I thought it was because she hadn't eaten much. I gave her some A & W Root Beer which she liked. The next morning, I learned she had been taken to the hospital. I wish I could have done more.

"Straight A care, wish I did more"
I have a hard time giving an A+ for anything, so I give my mom's care here a straight A. JoAnne and I were in and out of Sue's room most days before we lost her. We had her playing cards, and I took her downstairs for a few meals, but she wasn't eating much. One afternoon, I asked her if she was depressed, and she said yes. I got her address book and called some of her children, which seemed to cheer her up. I probably bothered some people a bit, but it felt right. I learned Sue went to the hospital yesterday when I was on my way to visit her. She had complained about her stomach hurting the night before, and I thought it was from not eating enough. I gave her a bottle of our favorite A&W Root Beer, and she finished most of it. I was worried when I found out she went to the hospital. I wish I could have done more.

"Northwoods Outshines Christian Park in Meals and Service"
I’ve been to both Christian Park Center and Northwoods, and Northwoods is definitely better. The meals are served on time and look great, the facilities are kept in good shape, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
