"Nice place, but staff and pharmacy need improvements"
The community was nice, but the staff could be kinder. One problem we had was that they didn’t use Medicare for her medications; they had their own pharmacy. I would suggest this facility to others.

"Assisted Living Review: Sunrise of Bloomfield Hills"
My relative lived at Sunrise of Bloomfield Hills. It was okay. Their apartment wasn't cleaned well. It was tough to handle the staff changes, but they were usually friendly. My relative often grumbled about the lack of things to do. There were a lot of changes in staff. Bingo wasn't fun!

"Poor Communication and Service"
The staff's friendliness varies. Some are nice, but others rarely smile. Some act like they're doing you a favor by doing their job. It's disappointing. They don't respond quickly, probably because they're understaffed. The staff seems untrained, especially when it comes to medication distribution. Some days are better than others. The food isn't great, but there's plenty of it. I can't rate the activities since I can't attend. For the extra services I pay for, I expect better. You have to advocate for yourself.

"Assisted Living Needs Better Communication and Activities"
I think one problem is when we brought my loved one to Sunrise. They didn't explain services, introduce her to anyone, or the other residents. They just left her there. Even after staying, she's still unsure about laundry and cleaning. She didn't know she could get snacks between meals until recently. Except for bingo and a few cheap activities, there aren't many things to do. She liked her apartment because it had an exterior door to a patio, but they don't want her to use it, which they didn't tell her at first. So, she's pretty upset. It seemed much better when they talked about it.

"Assisted Living Facility Shows Promise Despite Staffing Challenges"
This place is kinda hard to judge. I get it, everywhere's short on staff, which affects the care. I think they should pay more attention to what each person in memory care needs. Sometimes stuff gets missed, but they're trying to fix it. They've got a really good team, and some of the people taking care of residents are amazing. They've listened to me when I've talked to them, which I like.

"High Cost, Low Care: Disappointing Assisted Living Experience"
When we visited this place, we thought it cost too much for what we thought we'd get. The memory care part wasn't like we thought, and the people living there were walking around alone. I didn't see the personal care I wanted for my family member.

"Good care but short-staffed"
Our loved one had dementia, but Sunrise cared for them in assisted living, not memory care. We thought this would make their stay more pleasant. During their stay, there were staffing issues. Our loved one needed two people to help them out of bed, but often only one was available, so they stayed in bed more than we wanted.

"Family impressed despite minor upkeep issues, loved one happy"
Our experience during covid was positive. The person who showed us around was friendly and helpful. The outside of the building is clean, but our family member's room needs a bit more attention, likely due to covid. We haven't interacted much with the caregivers, but we know there are nurses and doctors on-site. Our loved one enjoys living there and feels comfortable and happy. She likes the food and hasn't left anything on her plate. We were very impressed.

"Dad Thrives in New Home"
I really like the friendly staff here. My dad is happy, and I feel good about his new home. When I started taking care of him in 2018, it was tough because he wasn’t content at my place. But since 2019, he’s thriving, making friends, and enjoying companionship. I’m thrilled for him.

"Mixed feelings, small space, noisy road, great food, good people."
My parents kinda like it, but it's too small. Dad hates noisy road. Food's great, people are good.

"Decent Place, But Too Noisy and Small for Parents"
My folks are okay with the change so far. They're finding the space a bit cramped though. The street noise near their apartment bothers my dad. They like the meals served – really great. The staff is nice here.

"Pleasant Community Tour"
I had a really pleasant tour of this community, and everything went smoothly. The staff was super friendly. Unfortunately, their prices were too high for our budget, but overall, it was a good experience.

"Not Much of A Connection"
The tour I had was really nice. Everything, from the staff to the surroundings, was good. I felt more connected to another community.

"Few Staff, Cramped Spaces: Comfortable but Overpriced Assisted Living"
I only noticed a single employee in the memory care section, and she was busy coloring by herself. The residents didn't have anyone assisting them and seemed unsure as to what to do. The community rooms on the ground floor, though, were nice and inviting. However, the apartments felt too cramped for my liking. Considering all this, I found it to be quite pricey.

"Lovely Community!"
This community was really nice. It looked super clean, and everyone seemed friendly. The staff gave us a warm welcome. My only concern was that it's a big place, and I worry about my loved one getting proper care.

"Good care, but parking is an issue"
They provide good care, and their staff is well-trained. The place is always clean—I never saw any dirt or smelled anything bad. They charge a base fee, but nursing care is extra. They checked on her often, but I don't think she could use the call button. Parking is definitely an issue; it can be hard to find a spot at certain times. The facility was too big and busy for us, though.

"Nice facility, friendly staff, parking an issue; chose elsewhere."
I visited this place for my relative's care. It was clean and neat, and the staff were all nice and seemed to know what they were doing. However, parking could be a problem if we chose this place. We decided to go with another Sunrise community, but I would have thought about this one too.

"Responsive but Needs Better Supervision"
My mother stayed at Sunrise Assisted Living for a short time. She did have a fall while she was there, but they responded quickly. They did x-rays and handled everything properly afterward. However, I wonder if they were watching her closely enough in the first place.

"Continued Concerns After a Year"
I checked out a review from a year ago, and wow, it’s like they took the words right out of my mouth. There was no warm welcome or guide for new folks. It’s pretty much a do-it-yourself deal for newcomers and their families. But yeah, the place is nice and tidy. Mom got her keys on September 9, 2014, even though we paid starting September 1. My sister made sure everything was set and the key would be there. But guess what? The room wasn’t set up. The carpet had stains, the bathroom needed fixing, and the key? Not ready. Nobody was there to meet them. My sister was super upset, trying to sort it all out by herself. And mom was there, crying, because she didn’t even want to be there. No help with the big move. Their fancy mission statement? Seems like it’s just for show. The monthly schedule is so packed and tiny, you can hardly read it. Wouldn’t it make sense to have big letters and a daily schedule where you can actually see it? There’s hardly any real talk to get to know what the residents like or need. And what’s the deal with keeping personal meds safe? They said it’s locked up tight, but we can’t find mom’s brand-new memory pills. My sister had mom’s name all over it and wanted to bring it home. Why’s it $180 here when it’s $62 at our local drugstore? Staff without name tags? How are we supposed to know who’s who? Mom’s paying extra for this Terrace thing, but they don’t remind her to join in. She’s all about the fun and trips but needs that “gentle reminder” they promised. I talked to Gretchen, the boss here, about all this and more. I even gave some tips. But it feels like they’re just good at saying what we want to hear. The front door? Sometimes there’s nobody watching it. I’ve walked in a bunch of times, and it’s empty. Doesn’t feel as safe as they say. We’re not asking for anything they didn’t promise. I’m pretty sure they have rules about keeping personal meds. And I bet there are other rules they’re skipping. Like, aren’t staff supposed to wear name tags? When family or friends are around, it all looks peachy. The staff are super nice and treat the residents well. But it’s the personal touch that’s missing. If mom didn’t need someone to check on her, she could’ve just stayed home. We’re paying for that care.

"Drop-In Surprise!"
I stopped by without an appointment, and they handled it really well. The Director of Activities, she was playing cards with some residents and kindly gave me a tour. The place smelled good, and it was nicely decorated. Everything was up-to-date and well-maintained. They had nice dining areas and community rooms. The first floor was for assisted living, the second for slight memory care, and the third for full memory care, including Alzheimer's. The apartments were nice but small, with a small fridge and counter—no other kitchen space. It's a month-to-month arrangement with no buy-in fee. Sunrise also accommodates two-week visits, respite stays, or a month-long trial. Unfortunately, there's no outdoor space for walks or sitting—it faces Telegraph Road, a major roadway, which isn't very soothing.

"Managers Fall Short at Assisted Living Facility"
This place is nice to look at and they keep it clean, but it has problems because the people in charge don't know how to run it properly. The big bosses don't work during the week or at all on the weekends. They say they do, but they really don't. Because of this, the staff that actually cares for the residents, who are underpaid and really nice people, have to take over the running of the facility. The staff are good at taking care of the residents, but they shouldn't have to be in charge too. There's nothing for the residents to do, even though they told us there would be lots of activities. When my loved one moved in, none of the bosses came by to say hello or help her get used to the new place. Residents are pretty much on their own, especially if they don't have any family around.

"Reputation"
We picked Sunrise because it's close to our family. The place is super clean, and the staff is super nice. Another reason we chose Sunrise is their great reputation. Prices are a bit high, but they're similar to other places.
