"Needs Improvement in Care and Service"
The food should be fresh, not old or bad. They should give us the food we ask for, like water and coffee, not ignore us. The people who work at night and on weekends are not nice. They seem annoyed when asked to do easy things. It’s different from what they tell you before you join.

"Lovely Assisted Living with Pond Views"
Our family visited the assisted living facility in person. It’s a bit pricey, but the tour and community are lovely. Some rooms even have a view of the pond. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we left with a little bundt cake.

"Good place with friendly staff but needs more activities"
I would recommend this place to others. It's pretty good compared to some other places we've seen. The staff are friendly and easy to talk to. However, they could offer more different activities and outings.

"Mixed Experience at Community Apartments"
I've lived here for nine years. Services disappoint. Three maintenance men struggle. AC broke for a whole summer. Gas leak took months to fix. Mice and spiders are issues. Food is average, sometimes good. People are friendly but not always honest. Be cautious.

"Assisted Living Facility Fails to Provide Safe, Quality Care"
Don't entrust your family member's care to this facility. They can't maintain a stable staff, ranging from aids to senior management, as there's a constant turnaround. This place pays low wages to employ underqualified, underprepared individuals, some of whom are put on 16-hour shifts. They often promote aids with no qualifications to med techs, irresponsibly allowing them to dispense medication and medical advice. When my mother fell, they informed us as per law but said she was okay. However, when we visited her, we found a bump on her head and rushed her to the hospital. There, we discovered a broken rib and she was in significant pain. This facility will say anything or make excuses to cover their negligence and lack of proper care. Discussions with the management may resolve issues temporarily, but the problems always resurface within a few weeks. If you can't visit your family member at least thrice a week, you won't have a true picture of what's happening on the ground. Their motto appears to be finding new ways to hike fees or "levels of care" annually to earn more, without delivering the care or services you're paying for. Their record keeping is extremely sloppy; there were several instances where caregivers were following wrong instructions after we had paid for an increase in care. Steer clear of this place!

"Don't trust"
Do not trust this place for your loved one. This facility has a revolving door for employees from the aids to the management team. They can not keep good people. They hire unqualified, untrained people at low wages. Some work 16 hour shifts. They promote from within making unqualified aids med techs who should not be dispensing medications or giving any medical advice. My mother fell and they called to tell us per law. They said she was fine. We went right over and found a lump on her head and took her to the hospital only to discover she had a broken rib and in allot of pain. This place will go out of their way to tell you what they think you want to hear or make excuses only to protect their negligence in the care they should be receiving. Meetings with the management team help resolve ongoing issues for about 2 weeks and then it's back to business as usual. Unless you visit your loved one 3 or more times a week, you won't really know what goes on there. The philosophy is to find every way to increase fees or "levels of care" to improve their bottom line with increases every year. Then they do not follow through on the care or services that you are paying allot of money for. They're record keeping is terrible. Several times the care givers had incorrect care instructions after an increase in care was paid for. STAY AWAY!

"Avoid Waltonwood: Disappointing Care, High Cost, Unresponsive Management""
Before mom relocated to Waltonwood, she struggled with vascular dementia. She could mostly do activities alone but she occasionally needed help. I had told them to remind her to do tasks and walk with her occasionally, but they never did. Instead, they relied on wheelchairs, regardless if the person could walk. Mom's ability to stand or walk worsened to the point of barely being able to do either. They refused to let her stay there and moved her to a hospital and nursing home before she could go to another amazing assisted living facility. But all this moving around greatly affected mom. This facility's caregivers lacked experience. They could barely keep her room clean. Sadly, she passed away less than a year after becoming a resident at Waltonwood. What they claimed to offer wasn't close to what they actually did. The management and head nurse were unresponsive and rude when they finally did reply. They charged so much money. But that cost was nothing compared to what was paid for mom's health and her life. Waltonwood is horrible and exemplifies the issues with US "healthcare". No one you care about should ever be sent here.

"Waltonwoods denies residents' freedom to select healthcare"
Pay attention because Waltonwoods won't let residents pick their own home care or health care. They won't let He Home Care or Beaumont come in unless they get something more costly called Accushield. This doesn't feel like independent living if residents can't pick their healthcare. It seems to break the Patient Bill of Rights. I'm left wondering if they're getting extra money from Oakland Home Care. This really bothers me, especially when I'm already worried because my parents were in the hospital and need steady care. I don't believe they really care about the well-being of the patients.

"Clean and Friendly Assisted Living"
I visited this place while checking out different options. It was a lovely community, clean with a friendly staff. Everything was kept very tidy, and it seemed a bit more upscale than another nice place I saw.

"Beware: Waltonwood Assisted Living Fails to Meet Promises!"
IMPORTANT! Listen up, we had a family member stay at Waltonwood. They made big promises during the tour, showing all the great stuff that would supposedly be provided. We thought we'd hit the jackpot! We were so wrong! Sure, it looks fancy - like a five-star resort - but once your family members live there, it's a different story. The quality of care? No way is it five-stars. If only we had known the troubles that were coming, we'd have never set foot there in the first place. After your family moves in, you're on the hook for a big deposit and feel obligated to stay, especially if you're trying to manage your elderly relatives' money carefully. We thought our family would be really well-cared for and constantly watched, but several trips to the hospital due to neglected nutrition, hygiene, and supervision showed us how wrong we were. It's one of the worst choices we've made. Plus, when you bring up major, even life-threatening issues to the managers, they're often very rude, dismissive, or don't even bother to call you back. Honestly, I wouldn't send my senior dog to live there, because I'd fear for her safety. Please, be cautious of the many major issues plaguing Waltonwood, more than I can possibly describe here.

"Expensive Assisted Living Fails to Meet Crucial Standards"
A lot of these reviews seem to be from relatives who either visited or placed a family member in Waltonwood at Lakeside. But this review is directly from a resident who asked me to share his experience. Take this seriously if you or a loved one are thinking about moving into this senior housing facility. Waltonwood at Lakeside looks ideal in pictures, and with the steep resident fees, you'd expect it to be. However, it has many issues. First, there is no round-the-clock medical help at this location. Secondly, the food isn't good and often cold. If you're spending a lot here, you'd think you'd at least get a delicious meal. Thirdly, when we asked about the average utilities cost, we were told it would be around $100 a month. Mine are double that. Fourthly, my air conditioning sends cold air back into my living room. Even with my thermostat at 72 degrees, the floor stays between 57-64 degrees. I've complained about this a lot, which leads me to talk about the management. Remember, when you're signing the lease, the managers are salesmen. The Waltonwood management has been telling me they are "working on my temperature issue" for several months, but they haven't fixed it or even properly updated me. Once they have your money, they're no longer helpful or responsive. I've spoken to other tenants with similar issues, but they're scared to speak up. I don't think that's fair, so I'm making my voice heard. These are just a few of the problems you should consider before committing big bucks to receive so little in return from this place.

"Once again the staff was very friendly and informative."
Once more, the staff provided helpful information and were friendly. The facility was lovely, but I believe it was too large with too many elevators for her needs.

"Looks Good, But Care is Poor"
My mom's been livin' here a few months and I've lost track of all the problems we've had. The biggest issues are with the new boss and the chief nurse; they can't keep their stories straight about my mom. It feels like they're always sending her to the hospital. Twice in one week once, and six times total in three months. She's always tripping and falling, probably from all the meds they pump into the residents to keep them calm and quiet. Since moving here, she's gotten a lot worse. The place might look pretty when you walk in, but that's about it. The caregivers themselves ain't too bad, but they usually are just standing around the nurse's station. They don't spend much time with the people living here and they're always short-staffed. I really regret bringing her here.

"Reasonable alternative to pricier options; satisfactory for potential residents."
My wife and her sister visited this place, and they thought it was good. It cost about the same or a little more than Sunrise, but they were okay with that.

"Affordable Assisted Living with Amenities"
Rent for two people is $3,595 per month. You sign a one-year lease. You also pay for gas, electricity, cable, and phone. They provide two meals a day, and there's an option for short-term stays. Housekeeping and laundry services are available, but I'm not sure who provides them. They have doctors, podiatrists, and portable dentistry on call. Plus, there's a physical therapy room and a therapy pool. They give you bed and bath linens and make your bed every day.

"Cozy Atmosphere, Pay Extra for Utilities, Pool is a Plus"
I really liked having laundry in the rooms, and the rooms themselves were nice. But I preferred the Bella Villa atmosphere. It was a bummer having to pay for heat, electricity, and cable separately. On the bright side, having a pool was a definite bonus!

"Busy Location Overwhelms Elderly Residents"
The people who worked there were really friendly, which was nice. But I felt like the place was too busy and crowded because it's right next to the mall. It just seemed too hectic for my mom or dad.
