"Poorly Prepared Meals at Assisted Living Facility"

The kitchen staff needs help. The chefs lack experience in cooking for seniors, resulting in mostly cold and overly seasoned food. Despite a promising menu, the actual dishes often disappoint. Thousands of dollars' worth of good food is wasted daily. On Christmas Day, the prime rib, stuffing, ham, and green bean casserole were poorly prepared—raw beans, cold ham, and tough prime rib. Properly cooked meals matter, especially during holidays. Negligence could lead to food poisoning for residents.

"Highly Recommended"

Why We Liked It: Two-Bedroom Option: We loved having a 2-bed, 2-bath unit. Close to Dining: Our unit was conveniently near the dining room. Everything on One Floor: All amenities were on the same floor. Yummy Food: The meals were high quality. Smooth Transition: Easy move to Assisted Living on the same campus. Staff and Activities: The staff were super friendly and responsive. Housekeeping happened every 2 weeks and was thorough. Sometimes, there were staffing issues in the dining room and housekeeping, but management worked hard to fix them. Lots of fun in-house activities each week, plus occasional outings. Highly recommend!"

"Poor Care in Assisted Living Despite High Staff Ratings"

Be careful when you see high scores given by staff members of an organization or business, with many not honestly saying they work there in their feedback. My daddy was a resident here for more than 5 years, with over half of that time in assisted living. The part of the facility for folks living independently is okay, a friendly place with nice, reasonably priced places for seniors to live. The assisted living part, though, was like a bad dream for nearly all of the time. Just to be clear, my daddy has dementia, and can be tough to deal with, but I've found out that's not so rare. Some of the staff were good, but Waltonwood wasn't able to constantly take good care of my daddy while he was there. We had to bring in extra help to make sure he got cleaned up and dressed. In the last few months there, as he got worse, he would sometimes spend days in his waste.

"Needs Improvement in Patient and Family Care"

People in hospice should be treated with respect as they near the end of their life. My dad was one of those people. He could still talk and think clearly right up until he passed away. You should know that the workers here might get tired of families who ask a lot of questions about how their loved ones are doing or who need help. They might ask for just one family member to be the go-between for the staff and the rest of the family. This place is okay if you can walk and do things on your own, but it’s not the best choice if you need a lot of medical care. They don’t really understand how to take care of people in hospice. It’s not just about the person who’s sick; they also need to help the family who knows they’re going to lose someone soon. If I knew back then what I know now, I would have moved my dad to a different place where he would get the care he needed. And they’re not afraid to stop family members from coming in if they think it’s too much trouble.

"Needs Better Management and Maintenance"

Ever since I moved in, they haven’t changed my air filter. I’ve asked them to clear away a bird’s nest by my window, but it’s still there. The staff members are super nice and the residents are great, but the place isn’t run very well. They definitely need more workers to handle all the repairs and upkeep. Also, a bunch of the workers haven’t gotten their shots, and some seem like they’re new and don’t know much yet. If they’re going to say it’s a fancy place, it should really feel like one. I think they should have a better way to keep track of what needs fixing, instead of just telling the front desk. I wouldn’t tell people to move here.

"Mixed Experience with Food and Service at Assisted Living Facility"

I suggest trying this community for independent living. We haven't faced major problems. My loved one isn't pleased with the food. They serve meals inconsistently in terms of timing and taste. This is due to the pandemic; if the dining room were open, we likely wouldn't have this issue.
