"Good experience, comfortable in last weeks, recommend."
My loved one stayed at Belmar Oakland and had a very good experience. They kept him comfortable in his last weeks. I would recommend this facility to others.

"Belmar: Comfortable Facility with Limited Activities and Streaming TV"
Belmar was chosen because my brother liked the Troy, MI location and they had a reasonable price with a short-term ‘respite care’ option. The facility is beautiful and conveniently located in Troy, near SMART Connector transportation services. The staff treats residents like family, and the rooms and common areas are very comfortable. However, there aren’t many activities, and the TV service is streaming-based, not cable.

"Caring Staff, But Not Enough on Weekends"
The people working here are mostly nice and pay attention to us. They have some really great folks helping out, but they need more of them. The ones making food are great too. When my husband stayed here, they didn’t have enough workers, especially on the weekends. A few times, I looked all over and couldn’t find any workers in the place.

"Belmar Oakland: A Caring Assisted Living Facility"
I thought the staff at Belmar Oakland was really caring. My husband had aggressive dementia, which made him challenging to handle sometimes. But I believed they were doing their best. He was on hospice and had a special bed and chair from Hospice. The food was excellent, although as his condition worsened, he struggled with swallowing. The facility was super clean, with great rooms, cable TV, and a microwave in his room. It was convenient for me to stay with him. They always offered me tea or coffee. If I had issues, the nurse would help, and security was top-notch. Definitely recommend!” .

"More hospital-like but strong care for medical needs"
When we toured Belmar Oakland, it felt more like a hospital than a home. However, they seemed very focused on taking good care of residents with more medical needs.

"Fairly good community with good staff communication, varied meals, and activities."
In general, this community is quite nice and I'm happy here. The staff communicate well enough. Residents get three meals daily with a set menu. Activities, including live music, are offered.

"Caring Staff, But Communication Fell Short"
The pandemic really affected things, but there wasn’t much talking. Still, the people working there were super nice. We got to see each other through the window, and my family member was always neat and tidy. Plus, the workers made sure he received the special care he needed.

"Dad's Doing Well After Leaving Shady Care Facility"
I feel it's important for folks to know that this place is just plain wrong and shady. The head person here was awful. They kept telling me my dad was in bad shape, but when I talked to him and had some tests done, it seemed like he was actually doing great. The staff would lie and suggest I should cut him off, saying this was just how his life would be there. Well, he's living on his own now and just got a new house, so he's doing really well.

"Horrible Care, Dirty Conditions at Corp-Owned Belmar; Research Needed"
Don't send vulnerable loved ones to this facility. Our journey at Belmar started okay but spiraled downhill fast. We learned after we signed all the documents that they aren't equipped for Hospice or people with terminal diseases. I visited my brother--he had severe lung and brain cancer--when a nurse phoned me with worries. Once at Belmar, I discovered him on his room floor, covered in harsh bruises. There were injuries and scratches on his face, head, and hands. His room was littered with dirt and old dishes. That weekend, only 3 caregivers were available, and police were returning a resident found 2 miles away. The truth is stated. Find me on Facebook for our full story. Always think about the fact that this place is corporation-owned. I think some reviews may be bogus. We filed reports and briskly transferred my brother from Belmar. You must research. I advise calling Hospice centers for the best housing options.

"Mixed Experience with Assisted Living Facility"
A Place for Mom was really nice to us. They cared a lot and kept checking in! But, the place we picked, Belmar Oakland Troy, had some unexpected money surprises. They ask for $2500 when you move in plus the first month's rent. Also, they don't give out incontinence supplies like pads or wipes. With Covid, it's hard to handle daily things and visits are tricky. It's tough to trust the staff and the facility. They were easy to talk to at first, but that changed after about 6 weeks. We're glad we moved our loved one, but we're not sure if it was the right choice. Don't mind the star rating, we've never been inside and he's only been there during Covid.

"Belmar Capitalizes on Pandemic, Restricts Visits and Cancels Activities"
Belmar won't let anyone see their family members even though Governor Whitmer lifted restrictions on nursing home visits a while back. They gave me the excuse that they're short on staff to manage visits. It's ridiculous that we pay so much money but can't even see our loved ones. They've even canceled all activities for the residents, which was something they used to look forward to. Social distancing is still possible during these activities. It feels like Belmar is capitalizing on this pandemic. Without us family members allowed in, who knows what's happening inside that place? I've talked to some workers and heard it's pretty grim in there.

"Positive experience: Recommend due to involvement, good food, and convenient location."
I recommend them. I was very active in ensuring they understood me and my needs. The food was enjoyable. The rooms were spacious and the community layout was convenient. His room had a great location, close to everything.
