"Good Staff and Location, But Costly"
We chose this assisted living facility for its great location and the friendly staff. It’s a nice place, although it’s a bit expensive. I’d suggest it to other people.

"Terrible Staff and Management, Poor Hygiene and Unappetizing Food"
The employees here are HORRIBLE and really inconsiderate to the people living here and their families. They blame their strong accents for misunderstandings but in reality they're just lying and trying to hide their mistakes. The food is GROSS– both how it looks and tastes– and the kitchen and cook seem dirty. I've seen dirty dishes and cups being used to serve residents. My family member doesn't get bathed on the days they're supposed to. And the management is Awful - they clearly don't care about the people living here.

"Wonderful place for loved ones with attentive staff and activities."
She is really great! It's a wonderful place for loved ones now that they have enough staff. The staff communicate well. They provide three meals a day and lots of snacks! I'm not sure about all the activities, but she was coloring a Christmas picture the other day. They do exercises at 10 am. In the summer, they do planting activities.

"Frustrated with Encore's unfair billing and complex contract."
When my family member first entered Encore assisted living facility, everything seemed okay. They moved in on a particular date and, sadly, they passed away a month later. But the problem is, we're still being charged for their services, even though they aren't being used anymore. We've yet to see any refunds for the services that went unused when my family member was no longer living there. The contract we signed had all sorts of terms that were too difficult for us to understand without a lawyer. It said that if you wanted to move out, you had to give Encore a 30-day notice or die. Even though my family member did pass away, they still insist on the 30-day notice policy. This has forced us to shell out more money for a whole month's worth of services that can't even be used anymore. We could have used that money to give our loved one a decent funeral. I can say with certainty that we are very unhappy with the way things turned out.

"Decent tour, no negatives."
Our family had an in-person tour, which was okay overall.

"Assisted Living Review: Not Ideal Social Match for Loved One"
Encore at Champlin is a large community with two sections, memory care and general living. It seemed like my loved one might not find enough social interaction here, as the memory care residents appeared more advanced in Alzheimer's and less sociable. The facility looks nice, but I didn't feel it would be a good fit socially for my loved one.

"Insufficient Staff and Unanswered Calls at Encore at Champlin"
The Encore at Champlin didn't seem to have enough workers. I spent a whole day trying to ring them and not once did anyone pick up.

"Not What I'm Looking For"
"This place is clean, but it feels like a nursing home. The rooms are small and feel like hospital rooms, not apartments. I'm looking for a place that feels more like home."

"Heartfelt Praise for Bickford Despite Mother's Short Stay"
Despite the glowing comments about Bickford -the friendly staff, awesome facilities, and delicious food, it's sad to say my mom didn't stay long. However, during her brief time, she was really happy and deeply appreciated the excellent care she was given.

"Horrific Care At Assisted Living Facility Prompts Legal Action"
Definitely do not move your beloved family members into this place. I made the mistake of moving my mom there, and within six months, she constantly had urinary tract infections. Whenever I'd visit, I'd encounter dreadfully smelly, soiled diapers discarded in the restroom bin. If you hit the call button, you would be waiting an eternity for help. According to my mother, she was seldom checked up on. The cleanliness was abysmal, with feces not being cleaned off the bathroom wall near the tissue holder. Laundry service was just as horrible. To make things worse, my mom fractured her hip and it took them two whole days to act. I literally had to question them about my mom's condition to get any sort of action. Legal action was necessary, and I lawyered up and sued them. Without much fight, they settled. Also, it's a fact that there are hardly any recreational activities for the people living there. This place definitely deserves to be closed down!

"Disappointing Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
My family member has been at this place for half a year. At the beginning, I thought it was okay, but now I'm really upset. Like any place, the laundry service is terrible! Clothes disappear, and sometimes other people's underwear ends up in my loved one's room. There aren't enough staff, and when we need help, it takes them forever to respond. I asked once if they keep a record of when they check on residents, but they didn't give me a straight answer. I had to complain about dirty stuff on the walls and handrails in the bathroom, and it took them weeks to clean it up. My family member has fallen three times already. I'm starting to consider moving them to a different place.

"Inconsistent Care and Limited Staffing at Gracewood Assisted Living"
Watch out for misleading claims. Our experience was disappointing. I've never reviewed before, but now that we're in a better place, I felt it's important to share. If management isn't good, neither is the care. The Gracewood website claims: 1. Caregivers are always there to help, but it's not true. Staff turnover is high. Only a few assistants are available for many residents, and sometimes no one's around when help is needed. 2. Safety checks are supposed to be frequent, but my loved one was left alone for hours, waiting for help. 3. Caregivers are meant to reassure residents, but staff is limited and residents often feel neglected. Sometimes, no one even answers the doorbell. 4. Meals are supposed to be home-cooked, but residents struggle with food, and staff doesn't offer much assistance or variety. 5. Activities are advertised, but they're repetitive, and there's not much variety or individual attention. The facility looks nice, but appearances can be deceiving. Despite promises during the tour, the reality fell short. Staff turnover is increasing, and morale is low. I hope this review helps families make informed decisions. Even though it might be cheaper, if your loved one isn't getting good care, it's not worth it. We stayed at Champlin Gracewood, and I can't vouch for other locations.

"Great care at a smaller facility with few weekend activities"
I moved my mom to Gracewood 2 weeks ago, and I'm really happy with the care and staff there. Since it's a smaller place, the residents get more personal attention. The nurse is fantastic and genuinely cares, and everyone works hard to make sure residents are comfortable. They also listen to family and work with us on the care. The rooms are decent, each with a bath, though they are small. The only downside is that there aren't many activities on weekends.
