"Inconsistent Staffing at Champlin Shores"

I enjoyed Champlin Shores, but I expected better consistency from the staff at a smaller place. Unfortunately, the frequent turnover of employees in 2023 is unavoidable. .

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

Initial meetings and lease signing went smoothly. Follow-up has been less efficient, possibly due to staff changes. Mom received a warm welcome with a red carpet and balloons at her door. Most areas are clean, but the elevator needs attention. Staff are friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Meals are tasty with good variety. Mom hasn't tried activities yet. Missing church services, Bible study, and worship, though listed. Price is high but covers everything, including food and utilities.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Staffing and Services"

The main problems are not enough workers, sometimes medicine mistakes, and not always getting help to go to meals and activities when we should according to the care level we pay for.

Communication lacking, no orientation, unmet promises, unprofessional staff, management issues.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"

I'm not too happy. At first, everyone seems friendly and they talk about how great everything is. I understand that they don't have enough staff these days. But the meals are always cold. They do try, and the activities are okay. However, when it comes to taking care of us, they're not all on the same page. Right now, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. After 5pm, I don't see any care or security. I'm really unsure about everything. When I went for a tour, they made it sound wonderful and caring. But now, I'm not sure if they're actually working on it. I know it's hard to find employees, but when it comes to care, there should be no excuses. I've seen several elderly people fall and there's no one around to help. There are some great people there, but when it comes to handling issues and providing care, it's like hitting a dead end. Nothing gets resolved, and nothing gets addressed.

"Older place, being renovated, familiar location."

We toured Champlin Shores because we knew the area. I liked it okay. It didn't feel as nice as the place we chose, but it was older. They were updating it with renovations, and it was still a contender for us.

"Well-managed Assisted Living with Responsive Staff, Recommended"

I believe this place is really nice and well managed. They respond promptly to issues with my loved one and keep me informed. Sometimes they are slow to return calls, which can be challenging for communication needs. Overall, it's a great place and I would recommend it.

"Great care and activities, some initial struggles but worth it"

Moving my loved one in was tough, but it turned out to be worth it. There were some concerns about what would and wouldn't work, but we figured things out together with the staff. The staff takes care of medication, toileting, dressing, and hygiene needs for my loved one. If I ever have any questions or concerns, I can get them resolved by talking to the right team members. Residents can enjoy activities like arts and crafts, music, gardening, and celebrations. My loved one mostly likes the food. I would recommend this community to others for their loved ones.

"Champlin Shores: Close, Comfortable, and Friendly Care"

We picked Champlin Shores due to its nearness to our home. The rooms are spacious enough, and Dad is content. The staff is very kind, and he's adjusted smoothly. I'd suggest it to others seeking similar care.

"Mixed Feelings About Champlin Shores"

I didn’t really like Champlin Shores at all. It felt very isolating for my loved one. It was like living in a huge apartment complex. Even the memory care patients had their own full apartments. We didn’t want her to be alone with neighbors and not feel part of a community. The apartments were nice, but the setting seemed too independent and isolating for our loved one.

"Mixed experience due to staffing transitions."

When we moved in, it was great, but transitions caused struggles.

"Clean, Friendly Assisted Living; Food Liked, Activity Encouragement Desired"

My mom seems fine since she moved here. Every time I visit, it's clean and well-kept. The staff is always friendly. Mom enjoys the meals served three times daily. She doesn't participate in activities due to her personality, but I hope the staff will try to involve her.

"Unexpected Health Crisis Altered Everything"

My dad stayed here for about a week before he had to go to the hospital. Unfortunately, he couldn't come back to this place. The staff was friendly and willing to help, but my dad's condition was more than they could handle. The community was always clean and well-maintained.

"Disappointed with Big Assisted Living Tour"

We weren't happy on our tour of this assisted living community. We were also hoping for a cozier, smaller place.

"Comfortable and Clean Assisted Living with Room for Improvement"

When we went to check out this place, it felt cozy. My mother-in-law's apartment is nice. She likes the food and they give her healthy options. The place is tidy, and they have lots of things to do. I'd suggest it to others. The only issue is they could communicate better with families.

"Mixed Experience at California Assisted Living Facility"

I had some problems with the Brookdale community in California, so I'm hesitant about considering it. I did visit, and the place was pretty nice.

Overall, it's been good. Mom likes food. Tricky new dining. Clean, nice community, good, nice staff. Close to us.

"Unpleasant Experience with Overcharging Assisted Living Facility"

My dad tried living there for a week and it was just not working for him. Being alone was not something he could stand. He had originally thought assisted living was a good idea, but it was not. I was annoyed with the whole ordeal because there was so much bureaucracy involved in getting him out. Even though he was only there for 5 days, they kept charging us and even billed us for medication he couldn't have possibly used. It feels like they're just trying to squeeze every last penny out of you. It's a scheme, plain and simple.

"No Regrets Choosing Brookdale!"

This place is now called Brookdale Champlin. From the first phone call to now, the customer service has been amazing for both me and my Mom. She moved in 15 days ago and LOVES it! When I first walked in, I felt comfort and peace from the staff and residents. Mom thought she'd be cooking her own meals, but she loves having a menu to choose from and not having to clean up. Choosing Brookdale was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

"Warm and Welcoming Assisted Living Experience"

I'm really impressed with Emeritus now Brookdale at Champlin Shores. The staff is super friendly, especially the person who serves breakfast. They go out of their way to make sure you're not just happy, but really satisfied. Everyone here is so nice and good at their job. My husband isn't as keen on it here, but that's not the facility's fault. He's here because of me, and he's glad I like it.

"Neat and Nice Staff, Yet Some Serious Concerns"

The place is super clean, and the people working here are really nice. They’ve got some cool stuff to do, and the meals are tasty too. But when we hit the help button, no one came, and we had to dial for an ambulance. We’ve been trying to sort out the bill for three weeks now, and it seems like most folks here are having trouble with their charges too.

"Assisted Living Okay, Memory Care Disappointing"

My father was initially in the assisted living, later moved to memory care. The assisted living care was decent, but the memory care left a lot to be desired.

"Comforting to find the right place for Dad out of town"

Living out of town, I felt relieved getting recommendations from A Place for Home when I visited Minnesota. They helped me set up appointments for the day after I arrived. The suggestions covered different cities, and we ended up choosing Champlin Shores because my Dad liked it the most. Even after seeing six places, he still preferred Champlin Shores.

"Assisted Living: Clean and Friendly, But Lacks Activities and Staff"

This place is clean and the people are nice. But sometimes there are problems with safety, and there's not much to do. They might need more workers to help out. The care right away seems fine. The food tastes good too.

"Champlin Shores in Champlin MN"

I was first told my mom only needed assisted living, not memory care. We moved her furniture into a nice apartment. But while she was in rehab at Twin Rivers, they decided she needed memory care. Memory care is a smaller room, so she can only have a fourth of what we moved. I know it's the right place for her, but I'm upset about all the work, money, and time we spent moving her stuff out of Champlin Shores. Now I have to change her phone and mailing address again when I get her new room number.

"Unpleasant Stay and Lost Medications"

My mother-in-law had a really poor stay here for temporary care. They misplaced her medications. They told us it was a non-smoking building, but the employees smoked in the lower level. You could smell it every time you used the elevator. When we were ready to check her out, it took way too long for a nurse to come aid us. No one seemed willing to take blame for losing her medications. They even tried to say we never brought them. Then, out of nowhere, they were found. It also took a really long time for someone to escort us to her room when we first arrived. All in all, it was a pretty bad stay.

"Friendly Assisted Living with Chad"

The male staff was nice and helped us. I saw around 7 residents: 6 with walkers and 1 in a wheelchair. There were 2 men and 1 friendly lady walking around. Also, there was one staff assistant and 2 employees in parked cars in the parking lot

"Mixed Experience at Champlin Shores Senior Living"

This place had a lot of issues. First, they charged us $1000 just to move in. Then, they had extra charges for services, which kept going up. Some of the staff were nice, skilled, and caring. But, there were problems with giving out medicine correctly, the place wasn't kept clean well, and the supervisors didn't follow through on fixing things. It's been hard to trust and feel confident in this home.

"Very Professionally Run. Top-Notch Explanation."

The assisted living facility is very professionally managed, and they spent a lot of time explaining the program.

Toured with director. More inclusive, friendly staff, long hallways.

"Clean, Friendly Assisted Living with Extra Services"

The facility is really nice. It's clean, and the staff is friendly. The apartments are pleasant. Instead of 'traditional' independent living, they offer 'retirement living' with extra services. Overall, a very nice place.
