"Unhappy with Assisted Living Facility’s Service and Response"
My family member is pretty sharp for their age and has told me about some problems at the Minnetonka New Perspective place. They’ve said that sometimes the staff doesn’t answer the call buttons right away, or it takes them hours. Meals can be slow to come out, and sometimes on weekends, no one’s there to make breakfast. They often have to remind people to help them with showers too. The people in charge, like the manager and the director, don’t really listen. They say it’s the residents’ fault for not using the call buttons right or coming to eat too early. The handyman, who’s a real saint, ends up having to cook and serve food on weekends. This means everyone has to wait a long time to order and get their food. Even when there are cooks and servers, things seem all over the place and slow. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes not so much. I’ve tried talking to the manager about all this a bunch of times, but I don’t get any answers or see things getting better.

"Fine for Basic Needs, Not for Extra Care"
I’d let folks know this place is okay if you don’t need help with anything. It’s a pretty nice spot. But the person in charge? They don’t really give you straight answers and get all uptight if you ask them stuff. And like I mentioned, the help they give isn’t always great or even the same from day to day. It’s alright if you just want meals and a roof over your head. But if you’re looking for more than that, I wouldn’t suggest going here.

"A Loving, Clean Place for Loved Ones"
The new, smaller facility feels like a beautiful hotel. Staffing challenges exist, but when they do attend to things like laundry, meds, and showers, they excel. Overall, a loving, clean place for loved ones.

"Proceed with Caution"
My mother-in-law stayed at New Perspectives Senior Living for about 2 months. When we visited, they told us the whole place was newly renovated. We saw 3 beautiful apartments. But when my mother-in-law moved in, they said the rent was much higher because she chose a remodeled unit. They wouldn't lower the price even though they had told us the entire building was redone. They were going through big staff changes, including new directors. Despite being short-staffed, most of the staff there was amazing. My mother-in-law decided not to stay and wait for improvements. New Perspectives Senior Living charges a non-refundable reservation fee. New directors were hired, so staffing issues might be resolved. Ask lots of questions about costs before moving in.

"Horrific Care and Unprofessional Conduct at Assisted Living Facility"
This assisted living facility was an awful experience; I felt disappointed and distressed with their overall service. The level of care was horrendous with disrespectful staff, including the ones managing it. My complaint is not because my mother passed away there, it was just trying to transfer her amidst Covid and the festive season proved challenging. This is a facility I would not recommend. They might seem impressive during a first-time tour, but their actual conduct and assistance to the residents are far from beneficial. I am still incensed recalling my interaction with the administrator, who did not display any sympathy or understanding about my concerns regarding my mother's care. Despite confronting him post her demise about the substandard quality of care she received, all he had to offer was: "She wasn't our only patient.", and that too with an air of indifference. Out of all the care homes my mother lived in, this was by far the most disappointing. I feel obligated to warn friends and acquaintances to steer clear of such an unprofessional establishment. Their incompetence is clear: they rarely answered calls, the chief nurse was extremely impolite, and the overall experience was horrifying. My mom was neglected and mistreated, causing her sheer terror and discomfort. The employees were rough and left bruises; they were even heard belittling residents. During one of my visits, I found it alarming that I couldn't find a single staff in sight when my mother was in the memory care unit, despite her not particularly needing to be there. There was no help offered or any indication they were regularly checking on her. It was an utter nightmare trying to exit the isolated unit, where I was stranded for about 20 minutes due to lack of staff. I get it; working in such a place during a pandemic is challenging. However, the employees here have seemingly lost sight of their primary purpose, caring for individuals. Instead, it seemed to me that their focus was on financial gain from the residents, judging by my mother's experience. I can't express how much this place has upset me.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short: Filthy, Slow Staff, Cold Food"
Our relative's bathroom was super dirty, with mold in the toilet. The main area was a bit cleaner. The workers weren't friendly at all. When our relative needed assistance, it often took forever for someone to come. They struggled with walking, and if they couldn't get help in the bathroom, staff would just leave them there for hours without cleaning them up. Food took ages to arrive, and it was usually cold.

"Poorly Supervised Brookdale Minnetonka Lacks Responsive Administration and Satisfactory Care"
Don't even consider placing a loved one at Brookdale Minnetonka Assisted Living. My wife was inbefore, so whatever I know about such facilities comes from hearing about the lack of attention - such as ignored call lights - on the radio. My wife stayed at Brookdale for just over a year and I can tell you, the administration has been remarkably unresponsive right from the start. They made promises before we moved in, all of which turned out to be false. All this happened just to fill a room, at my expense, of course. Don't get me wrong, there are a few aides, facility maintenance workers, and receptionists who are extremely competent and dedicated to their job. Unfortunately, the not-so-good ones seem to be pushing the good ones away. In the last five months, the standard of care here has dwindled significantly, especially in the memory care unit, where there's barely any supervision. Despite sharing all this with the administration, no action has been taken. Aides spend their time chatting or on their phones instead of helping the residents during meal times. There have been multiple instances of aides arguing, being negligent, and even mocking residents. Even after repeated complaints to the administration, nothing has changed. Despite paying hefty amounts for meal assistance, my wife got no help. She had to struggle to eat unless my stepdaughter or I were there to assist her. It was undoubtedly a nightmare, and I would not recommend this facility to anyone. It's a pity to see a few good employees stuck in such an environment. But if you're considering Brookdale for its level of care, supervision and administration, be warned - it's the worst. Take into account that most of the 5-star ratings here are most likely from employees or the administration. Sure, self-sufficient residents may have a more positive experience. But if your loved one needs extensive care, I urge you to avoid Brookdale Minnetonka at all costs.

"Unsatisfactory Care, Lack of Responsiveness at Brookdale Minnetonka"
Brookdale Minnetonka is not a place I'd want my loved ones to stay. My wife lived there for just over a year, and my experience with it wasn't great. I can only tell you about their service based on what I've heard over the PA system saying how a "resident's light has been on for a while". The administration doesn't seem to care. They promised things when we were moving in, but they didn't deliver. It was a wasted expense for us. Don't misunderstand, some of their staff are pretty good at their job - some aides, maintenance staff, and receptionists. Unfortunately, the lazy ones are making the good workers leave. The quality of care has declined rapidly over the past five months, especially in the memory care unit. It lacks supervision. Even after informing the administration of the situation, nothing was done about it. I've seen aides busy chatting or on their cell phones during meal times ignoring the residents instead of assisting them. Some were even arguing because certain ones didn't want to work. This could be heard by everyone in the dining room. There were days when residents were ignored, and I even caught an aide mocking a couple of them. A resident once asked what was for breakfast and was rudely told by this aide "you get what you get". I reported this to the administration who asked for further details. I've been reporting such incidents for five months now, but there's been no change. Some employees raised their concerns to the management too, but they never got a reply. I was spending a considerable amount on meals assistance which never materialized. My wife continued to struggle with feeding herself unless either I or my step-daughter were there to assist her. It's an awful memory. I'm sorry for the good staff there, but the level of care, administration, and supervision at this facility is terrible. Please note that when looking through the ratings, a lot of the 5-star reviews are from the employees or the administration themselves. Probably, those who can take care of themselves may have had a happier stay. However, if your loved one needs more attention, I would tell you not to...

"Stay Alert: Brookdale Properties Show Clear Signs of Money-Over-Care"
My mom or dad stayed here for couple of years. But when Brookdale stepped in, I knew I had to move them elsewhere. They only care about cash. The place is so big, they can't possibly offer any true one-on-one care. They are really all about the dollars, so watch out for any properties owned by Brookdale.

"Disappointment Over Care and Pricing At Senior Facility"
We were disappointed with this place. The nurses look like they care, but the helpers seem not to have been taught right. It's often really hard to get help, even with the call button. I think the sales guys are just telling you what you want to hear, and then everything changes when you move your family member in. They start charging more, including for stuff they are not doing. It seems like this place cares more about cash than about the folks that live here.

"A great place to live."
This place is really nice and super clean. The staff are all very friendly. What matters most is that the residents seem happy and content. I've had lunch here at least 10 times, and the food is excellent! They offer four different lunch options, and if you don't like anything on the menu (which is unlikely), they'll even make you a hamburger or sandwich. There are lots of daily activities to choose from, and they give each resident a list of what's happening. The staff must have amazing memories because they know everyone's name! It's not the cheapest place to live, so if that's a concern, check out a few others. My mom will need some time to adjust, but I'm hopeful. I always say hi to people we pass by, and even my mom is starting to do the same. The dining room is perfect for meeting people—the tables are set up for four, and they look beautiful. I appreciate that they handle medication administration, ordering, and everything related to that. Plus, they clean the apartments every week and take care of laundry.

"Disappointing experience: Poor care and service at Clare Bridge."
The activities in the Assisted Living section at Clare Bridge are great, but the service in the "secured" area is really bad. The employees don't give the residents options for what they want to eat, and they don't do a good job cleaning their rooms. They messed up two of my husband's shirts in the laundry - worth a total of $180. One time over the weekend, the Activities Director completely didn’t remember to give my husband his snack. I once asked the staff to give my husband a different meal because he doesn't like Mexican food, but they did not. Instead, he was left hungry and had to eat a cold enchilada. What’s even worse is one day, the nursing staff mistakenly sent my husband home for the weekend with only half of his medication. His doctor told me they should give me the rest immediately, which they finally did. My husband's watch got misplaced but they told me he lost it! I think it’s easy to blame someone who can’t speak up for themselves. There's one good thing though - an employee She's really great. But she can't do everything by herself and when she's not there, the other employees spend more time playing around with each other than they do with the residents. Before you decide to put your loved one at Freedom Pointe, you should really check out the living conditions at Clare Bridge. You might have to let your loved one stay there one day and I wouldn’t even put my pet in their care, let alone someone I care about. It might also help if you go and check out the place by yourself. Don't tell the staff why you're there so you can see what it’s really like with no pressure or influence from them.

"But pricey, neat views but would prefer more seclusion"
We got the chance to visit this place, with a family member even staying there for a bit. We really liked the food, and the rooms are pretty good. Cleaning could definitely be better, and the place is kind of too big. We'd prefer if it had fewer people and if it wasn't right off big highways and busy streets. Even if it is pretty easy to get to. Some sides have great views, but the room sizes we wanted just had views of the Carlson Tower and roads. It's pretty expensive, and for that kind of cash, we'd rather have something a bit more secluded and cleaner.

I worked with this facility as POA for my mother and mother-in-law. The meals are good, the service is attentive, and the staff is friendly and caring. "Consider Assisted Living Conditions Before Selecting: Staffing & Cleanliness Concerns"
Last winter was tough with me having to clear the entrance multiple times for my mother's medical visits. The front yard is in somewhat better shape this year, but the sight of prickly buck thorn and lifeless shrubs in the assisted living patio is disturbing. The cleanliness needs serious attention - we often encounter missing dishes or chipped tea cups and bed-making can be as late as noon, and that's after having to inform someone about it. Sometimes it takes around 6-11 minutes just for them to turn the light on and then they switch it off and leave, leaving you in anticipation of their return. The nurses are fantastic but clearly overburdened. It's unreasonable to have just one nurse caring for the whole building, which includes both assisted living and memory care, at night. We've had some significant issues with the frequently replaced medication administration staff. Thinking of relocating soon.

"Bright and Welcoming Assisted Living Facility Wins Our Hearts"
She really enjoys it! I don't notice them cleaning much, but it doesn't seem to get dirty. Right now, we're super satisfied with it. One thing I especially like is how well-lit it is; it doesn't feel like an apartment with long, dim hallways. There are ledges with spots to rest all along the hallways. The vibrant wallpaper makes it feel less like a hallway. One area they could improve on is offering more activities; some days, there's nothing that interests my mom. It might be that people aren't interested in doing things. Overall, I like it, and she likes it, so we're happy!

"Clean and inviting environment, but lacking personal engagement and clarity."
This place is clean and nice to walk into. The rooms are kept up well. The doctor and lab services come right to the building, and there are different things to do. But there aren't many people around, especially outside of the memory care area. I found it hard to find my way around the hallways because there are three levels instead of just one. I didn't see many nurses or staff members, and the ones I did see didn't say hi or make eye contact. The director didn't take time to introduce themselves when they walked by. Also, the food menu wasn't as healthy as I hoped, and they didn't give me a clear estimate of costs, leaving me to guess what it might be since it's all priced separately.
