"Satisfied with New Perspective Prior Lake's location, pricing, and services."
We picked New Perspective Prior Lake because it's close, affordable, and lets her stay independent with optional care.

"Outrageously High Costs and Unjust Practices at Assisted Living Facility"
Shameful money-grubbing behavior. They made my mom pay to replace carpeting in a small 700 square foot apartment and another for a new freezer door. This was on top of a non-refundable fee they charged just to start the lease! And they didn't even give us receipts for any of the work. To make matters worse, they jacked up the rent by nearly 19% in just one year. I suggest you start looking somewhere else!

"Great care and activities at New Perspective for your loved ones"
I recommend checking out New Perspective for your loved ones. They were very helpful in getting my loved one settled into the community. Residents can enjoy activities like bingo, music, crafts, shopping, restaurant visits, and more. The monthly fee covers housekeeping, room cleaning, and changing of linens. They also monitor my loved one’s blood pressure and weight. There is a basic meal plan, but residents can also choose from an anytime menu. Meals are served at specific times. There are different apartment options, some with washers and dryers and various layouts.

"Feels Like a Prison, Not a Care Facility"
The place is full of strict rules; it’s either their way or no way at all. They didn’t care about what I thought. The people working there were mostly nice, but they had this rule where they didn’t really include the folks living there in anything. They’d just leave my friend alone in her room all day, only remembering her when it was time to eat. If she needed something, she had no way to let someone know. She’d have to shout for help, but then they’d just tell her to stop yelling. There was no good plan in place to help new people get used to living there. Even though it’s supposed to be a place for memory care, it felt more like being locked up in a very official, cold place.

"Disappointed with prolonged renovations and lack of empathy"
I'm a family member of a past resident, and we're not impressed with this place. They've been painting for six months, but there are still lots of areas without carpet. There hasn't been a major remodel, so it's hard to understand why it's taking so long to replace carpet and paint. The management staff doesn't seem trained in elderly care or show much compassion.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short in Care and Security"
My mom stayed in the Memory Care area. Some workers genuinely cared, but others just saw it as a job. Some weren't trained well to handle residents with dementia. There were lots of new staff all the time. My mom fell often in her room, but staff rarely told me about it; I usually had to let them know. They said if they didn't see it, they wouldn't write it down. Mom's things would go missing from her room, sometimes ending up in the laundry, but sometimes they were never found. I started taking pictures of her stuff and put up a camera. The director could be rude sometimes. When I asked about security, they said they couldn't be there all the time. When my mom was dying and on Hospice, the nurse didn't check on her until she passed away. Thankfully, family and friends were there for her.

"Nice place, but entry fee is too high"
I found this place online before getting info from APFM. I toured it, and it's nice but over our budget. There's also a $3,000 entry fee, which seems high. The place is clean, nice, and has wonderful common areas.

"Settings Unsupportive and Unhealthy For Independent Living Residents"
At this assisted living home, no help is provided for residents trying to live independently. The staff admits that they wouldn't even know if a resident was sick. The nurse said she can't enter the apartments of independent living residents. They serve meals packed with carbs so it could be dangerous for those with diabetes.

"Mixed Feelings about Assisted Living Near Home"
This place is really friendly, but it's pricey. The nursing care isn't what I expected, and they were inflexible about using my dad's VA benefits for meds. The food's good, but the timing's hard for my dad. He's adjusting well though. Activities seem fine, but my dad's in dialysis twice a week. The best thing is it's close to my house, so I can get there quickly.
