"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Community"
We rated our overall experience as 3 stars because choosing independent living instead of assisted living led to an unexpected move within the complex, which cost us. However, we appreciated the friendly staff, cleanliness, and Dad's positive comments about the food. We'd recommend this community to other families, though we wish Dad could have stayed.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
There are good things, but the nursing could be better. On weekends, staffing is weak, and there aren't any CNAs. They said they want to hire CNAs, but they're using resident assistants instead. The RAs give out medicines, but they don't know much about them. They often don't introduce themselves or know how to comfort residents. Some of them speak English that's hard to understand. It would be better if they hired CNAs. St. Louis Park High School has a program where you can become licensed at 18 if you finish it in high school. On the bright side, the activities are great, and there are nice walking trails and gardens for residents. However, meals are pricey compared to nearby places.

"Great value and good food at Parkshore Senior Campus"
Since we live far away, we can’t visit often, but when we talk to our loved one, she seems to really like the food and dining service. We think it’s a good value for the money, and from what we’ve seen so far, we’d suggest Parkshore Senior Campus to other families.

"Decent Facility but Expensive for Memory Care Needs"
I appreciate the great tour for my Dad. His main worry about this place is the cost. With my Mom's memory care needs, it will cost at least $120,000 a year for about a 500 square foot one-bedroom apartment. There is no washer or dryer in the apartment he saw. The good things about this place are that they provide 3 meals a day for both my parents in the cost, and they have access to the pool and church services.

"Safe and Comfortable Assisted Living for My Parents"
I moved my parents into Parkwood Shores after my mom had a fall and we realized dad couldn’t manage on his own. While mom was in rehab, we saw they weren't taking their medications and dementia was becoming a problem. The fourth floor is the Alzheimer’s unit, a secure floor with locked doors that need a code to open. This was great for my parents because they would get lost otherwise. After a few days, they felt more comfortable and probably didn’t even notice they were locked in. It became their home. I was glad they were safe and didn’t need to worry about groceries, driving, or cooking. Staff took them to appointments and activities by van, which they enjoyed for a while. As Alzheimer’s progressed, having a familiar place was perfect for them. The care was pretty good, even though it’s a very hard job. It’s never going to be exactly like being at home, but I think 24-hour care can't really be done by family alone. We couldn’t have managed it ourselves.

"Memory Care unit was the right place at the right time..."
The Parkwood Shores assisted living facility provided a secure and familiar home for my parents, especially considering their Alzheimer's condition. While the care wasn't perfect, it was a relief to know they were safe.

" "Dissatisfaction with Parkshore's False Promises and Upcharges""
Parkshore's marketing is impressive, but that's pretty much it. They gave us a fabulous tour, but we soon realized they weren't being truthful about the waitlist. We made it clear that our mom was moving from another state and we were worried about her making friends. They raved about everything they do to help new residents, but once mom moved in, all they did was go over an activities schedule. She was left to figure everything else out on her own. We were also up front about mom's slight memory problems, but they emphasized their ability to "fill the gap" between independent living and memory care. Yet, they were quick to suggest we move mom into memory care, costing 3-4 times more, at the first sign of any memory decline.

"Parkshore Disappoints: High Costs Without the Promised Support"
My mom moved into Parkshore after a long wait on the list. They really sold all their features and friendly staff, but in reality, they fell short. They made a big fuss about all they had to offer and their welcome process, but when mom struggled to fit in and we asked for help, they basically said "She went through the orientation, she should figure it out herself." Things never improved after that. They weren't patient when mom started to show her age, and their solution to any issue, real or not, was always to make us pay more.

"Great Advertisements, Disappointing Reality"
Parkshore might have a slick advertising team, but that's about all. Our tour was impressive, but we quickly realized they weren't honest about the waiting list. We told them upfront that our mom was relocating from a different state and we were worried about her fitting in and making friends. They went on about all the amazing things they did to welcome new residents, but once mom moved in, all they gave her was a schedule of activities and left her to figure things out alone. We also told them that mom had minor memory problems, but could still do most things by herself. They assured us they could easily provide additional services to help her, yet they quickly pressured us to shift her into full-care memory assistance at three to four times the price after staff observed any instances of forgetfulness.

"Good Food, Clean Space, Friendly Staff, Parking Challenges"
My family member likes the food options here. The place is clean, and outside looks nice. But, parking is a bit hard to find nearby. The staff are super nice and helpful. I suggest asking lots of questions before choosing.

"4 Stars"
We had a great tour at this place with my family. It's so pretty with lots of room outside for the people who live there. But, we had to wait a really long time to get in. They said we might have to wait one or two years! They didn't have any room for my mom, and I couldn't wait that long to find somewhere else for her.

"Great Tour, Friendly Staff, and a Positive Atmosphere!"
The tour guide at Parkshore Senior Campus knew a lot about the place. During my visit, I met some really nice staff. The community was clean and well-organized. I saw how the staff interacted with the residents, and it was great. The whole place had a really positive vibe. I haven’t moved in yet, but I plan to soon. I would definitely recommend this community to my friends and family.

My mother-in-law is doing well at Parkshore Senior Campus. She’s gotten used to living there. The people who work there are nice and they help when you need it. The food is okay. They have plenty of things for the residents to do if they want. Overall, it’s been good. I think others should also keep checking in on their loved ones who live there. I’m really happy with this place.

"Confusing Departments, Maintenance Needs Improvement"
I'm not sure who to ask for help here. There are so many different departments or groups to talk to. Sometimes, maintenance doesn't fix what I expect them to, like for instance.

"A Pleasant Facility"
My father-in-law is quite content there. The value is excellent. We've encountered a few communication hiccups when they moved him to a different therapy level. Some housekeeping issues surprised us. The food is tasty, and there are plenty of activities. He enjoys the company of others; everyone seems friendly. While we're still settling in, it's a good facility overall.

"Assisted Living Review: Pleasant Staff, Limited Apartment Viewing, Disappointing Garden"
The building and the staff were nice. They only showed us one apartment that was accessible for people with disabilities. We wished we could have seen at least one other apartment that wasn't accessible, so we could compare them. One of the main reasons we were interested in Parkshore was because they said they had gardens and raised bed plots for residents. They talked about it a lot, but they never showed us that area. The food in the Bistro was good, and there was something for everyone's tastes. Overall, we felt a little let down.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility Tour"
The place was good clean, had lots to do, and some fancy but pricey rooms. The gardens were nice, and the food looked tasty. Only problem: the person showing me around kept leaving to do other stuff and talked a lot to everyone we met, which seemed kind of pushy and unprofessional. It made me uncomfortable.

"Loads of Activities! Resort Vibes!"
Wow, there’s so much to do! They have a swimming pool, and the place looks like a fancy hotel or resort. You can even park your car in the garage. On the east side, there’s a lovely park with a pond. They organize lots of community activities, like plays. The only downside is that you have to move to the connected assisted building. But don’t worry—the Bistro is really nice, and the staff always seems happy and friendly. The residents here are healthy, happy, and sophisticated. Plus, everything is well-maintained, including the library.
