"Headline: Subpar Care at Assisted Living Facility Raises Concerns"
Dad's first night at this facility was really disappointing. He had just come from the hospital and was still in his regular clothes when we arrived here, even though he had been in bed for 45 minutes. The staff had let him lay there in his coat and shoes, even with his stomach staples. On top of that, he had a sore throat and couldn't eat his meal. We searched high and low for someone to provide him a nutritional drink, but everyone we met claimed to be new and didn't know where anything was. It was frustrating since the fridge was full of such drinks. He needed to use the toilet, but when we found someone to assist, they said they would return but never did. About 15 minutes later, when Dad was in pain due to his stomach, they finally used a hoist to lift him. However, they forgot to pull his pants down when they got him to the toilet. The lack of decent care continued until we spoke with a person in charge. She reassured us that these issues will be addressed, so we're holding out hope for tomorrow, even though I'm feeling quite concerned.

"Disappointing Experience: Understaffed Assisted Living Facility During Pandemic"
Our time here wasn't great. Grandma missed out due to COVID. Seems like they didn't have enough staff.

"Appallingly Unqualified Staff at Oxbow."
My precious mom died, the way they responded to her emergency call button was totally awful. She just gave up on even pressing the call button. One day she fell trying to make it to the bathroom on her own and broke her hip. The team at Oxbow are shockingly unfit for this job. It's a total puzzle to us how they can even be allowed to continue running.

"Unattended Elders and Theft at Assisted Living Facility"
My grandma has been in both the temporary care department and the assisted living apartments at this facility. The treatment she's received in the temporary care department is ridiculous. The nurses seem uninterested and have frequently left my grandma in her wheelchair, unable to move, for lengthy periods without giving her her pain medics. We've noticed patients requesting bathroom assist from the nursing team but being outrightly disregarded. We've also experienced major issues with theft. From money to clothes, it appears the staffers think that it's okay to take just about anything they can get their hands on. Don't be deceived by the attractive exterior of the facility. It's filled with staff members who are harsh, lethargic, and dishonest!

"Hands Off: Staff Ignoring and Stealing from Patients"
My grandma lived in their temporary care section and also in their assisted living apartments. The nursing help in the transitional care unit is seriously lacking. Nurses were consistently negligent, leaving my grandma alone for hours, unable to move from her wheelchair, and without her necessary pain medicines. We have seen patients repeatedly ask, and be outright ignored, by nurses for help getting to the restroom. Be it cash or clothing, nothing seems out of bounds for the staff to take for themselves. Don't be tricked by the attractive building. This establishment is filled with a staff that is unkind, lazy, and dishonest.

"Inadequate Care and Language Barriers Trouble Assisted Living Facility"
The place looks nice but the healthcare is a total disaster. My mom had to wait for her painkillers for over two hours, even though they were listed as regular meds on her chart. A lot of the staff members don't understand English, so there was a lot of confusion and stress. My mom was there to get better after surgery, but she had to watch her own treatment, like when to take pills and asking for baths, even when she was sick. Her call button took forever to get answered. It's like the workers don't have any urgency. It really worries me for any residents who can't think clearly. How are they being cared for?

"Stunning facility, yet the hands-on care is utterly unsatisfactory."
The building sure was picturesque, but the treatment was COMPLETELY inadequate. My mom endured the delay of her pain meds, often waiting as much as two hours after asking for them despite the fact that they were part of her established prescription. A good portion of the staff didn't understand or speak English, which led to a lot of misunderstanding and aggravation. My mom was supposed to be recuperating and getting rest after a surgery, yet she found herself needing to be EXTREMELY proactive in her own care, right down to paying attention to when and how many medicine tablets she received, and requesting sponge baths, even when she had the flu. Very few of the staff seemed to show any sense of urgency. I just have immense welfare concerns for those residents who suffer from ANY sort of mental deterioration. You could only imagine how their treatment must be.

"Avoid St. Therese's Transitional Unit: It Weakens Seniors"
The care at St. Therese of Oxbow's transitional unit sucks. The more time your older family member spends there, the sicker they get. Turn and run as quickly as possible from St. Therese. A family member had a horrible experience there back in January of 2015.

"Avoid St. Therese: It Will Be a Family Regret"
My mother-in-law wants me to spread the word to as many older folks as possible that St. Therese should NEVER be anybody's choice for transitional care. Our family had such a terrible time there, we wouldn't want any other family to go through that. Believe us, if you choose this place, your entire family will live to regret it....

"Stay clear of St Therese transitional care!"
My Mom-in-law wants me to tell all older folks: never choose St Therese as your in-between care place. Our family had a terrible time there. We wouldn't want anyone else to go through this. Trust me, you and your family will regret it if you do...

"Gorgeous Facility, Unqualified Staff: Not Recommended"
The assisted living place is undoubtedly beautiful, yet that's misleading. It appears they put all the funds into the architecture and forgot about employing an experienced crew. I would advise nobody to go there.

"TCU's Pretty Exterior Hides Unqualified Staff Cost-Cutting"
This assisted living place may look nice, but don't be fooled. It feels like they put all their cash into the building and didn't have anything left to hire good staff. I wouldn't suggest it for anyone.

"Keep Clear: Inadequate Staffing and Training at St. Therese"
KEEP AWAY from the Transitional Care Unit at St. Therese at Oxbow Lake. If you care for your elders, do NOT select this facility as a recovery unit after a hospital discharge. They do not have enough staff members. The employees they do have lack proper training, or even scarier, they just don't seem to care about the seniors they're supposed to serve.

"A Lovely Place to Live, but Not Her Preferred Location"
After checking out the Waterford, she decided it wasn't for her due to its location. Nope! However, it's a beautiful place, with religious affiliations, loads of amenities, flexible food options, and independent apartments featuring decks and fireplaces.

"Needs improvement in assisting residents with transfers, but nice campus."
This place has a nice campus, and it's been around for five years. Right now, they don't have help for moving people around, but they're going to get it once they finish building.

"Facility Beautiful but Lacks Personalization; Meals Non-Negotiable"
This place is really nice to look at, but all the buildings look the same. During the tour, I got confused because everything seemed identical. I asked, and it turns out we were in a different dining room than where we started. I think they should decorate each area differently to make it easier for older folks like me to get around without getting mixed up. The person in charge knew a lot about the place, which was good. But when we asked if we could change the meal plan to just two meals a day instead of three, they said no. They wouldn't budge on the price either, even though we didn't want all the meals they offered. Because of that, we decided to keep looking for a place that would be more flexible.
