"Spacious and Fantastic!"

I really enjoyed the community because it has more outdoor space than newer places that lack outdoor areas. It's a fantastic place.

"Caring Staff and Spacious Apartments"

My mom is thriving here. The staff is caring and accommodating, and the spacious apartments are perfect.

"Assisted Living Delivers on Promises"

Things are going well so far. The staff is easy to work with, and the transition was smooth. They check in during the first month to make sure everything's okay. The place is clean, and there are plenty of activities. The food was better before the new chef. Overall, they deliver what they promised.

This assisted living facility has a great location and a friendly, cheerful atmosphere.

"Adequate Room Sizes and Customizable Meals at The Rivers"

We chose The Rivers because of availability. Room sizes are adequate. Meals are customizable from a menu. Likely recommendable for others.

"The Rivers: A Decent Option for Loved Ones"

I'd suggest The Rivers to others. The food isn't great, but the staff is friendly. The location works well for us, and they've got a pleasant outdoor area. The rooms are decently sized. Worth checking out for your loved one.

"**Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility**"

They cleaned my mom's apartment every week and changed her bedding. They brought her food in the evening. Although they had activities, she didn't participate in many. They offered a church service via video. Unfortunately, there was a norovirus outbreak, and the food preparation suffered due to staff changes. Cleanliness around food was a concern, which may have contributed to the virus lingering. Staff turnover was high, and the business office had billing issues.

"Terrible Care Leads to Hospitalization, Over-Ordering Medicine"

This place is awful. I've sent in two separate complaints to Minnesota's health department. Please exercise caution; the management and nursing team are both terrible, as well as the food. There's no consistency in the staff or management. I would firmly advise against sending a loved one here. They didn't give my family member the right medicine for weeks and ordered medicines worth hundreds of dollars that they never even gave. I moved my loved one to a much better facility and they were shocked at the over ordering and neglect in administering medication. My family member was hospitalized due to insufficient medication. Such a sad circumstance...be wary.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short in Many Areas"

This place has a bunch of issues. There aren't enough workers, and some of them have trouble speaking English. They mess up the billing sometimes. The care isn't the same all the time. The food isn't tasty or good for old folks.

"Mixed Feelings: Delightful Nursing Director, Dated Facility, Ambivalent Experience"

We met a really nice nurse, but the place is old and needs cleaning. We're hopeful for mom's care though.

"Zero Tolerance for Service Dogs Here!"

They don't tolerate service dogs at all!

"A review of The Rivers"

Laid back place. This place has only 1 bedroom units available as well. This is a big place, but the bedrooms are smaller than the other two places that we've visited. If they ever have a bedroom available, my parents will decide on living there.

"Poor Care and Overpricing at The Rivers Assisted Living."

Avoid The Rivers if your parent needs memory care! My Dad and my Mom, who has dementia, had a terrible time at The Rivers. They simply didn't care enough, were bad at handling emergencies, messed up medications, and their staff didn't know what they were doing. There were hardly any activities, and they kept having to quarantine for the flu. They charged my parents way too much for services they weren't even given. After only four months, we had to find them a new place.

"Welcoming Atmosphere with Active Residents and Friendly Staff"

The moment I arrived, I noticed residents and staff smiling and bustling about. It felt welcoming and lively.

"Stay alert: Staff knowledge and care consistency can vary."

The staff at The Rivers is nice and mostly helpful. But, they might not know everything about meals, cleaning, or activities. The place works with outside medical help, which is good. But sometimes they can't do what a doctor says. The staff is small, so when other residents have emergencies, it can affect your loved one's care. Also, they might not always do the daily care they should, especially on holidays and weekends. Sometimes they don't share information about resident care. If your loved one is here, make sure to ask questions and be careful. Understand their medications and why they're taking them. The staff might not know much because for many, it's just a job.

"Awful Experience at this Assisted Living Facility"

I know someone who was a resident there. The place looks nice on the outside, but that's about it. The leadership has shuffled around 3 times in the past 4 years. They seem to care more about who's doing what job than focusing on the seniors living there. When my family member needed extra help, the care was awful. They messed up medications and the wait time for service was ridiculously long. It was also very pricey for what they provided. I had to check in every day to make sure my family member was getting the paid services. Also, there was a high turnover rate with the aides and nurses. I absolutely don't recommend this place. We ended up moving her to a different, much better place with a top-notch staff.

"We Love This Community"

This place has great walking trails. My father-in-law has a beautiful apartment. It feels more lively than other places around here. They keep everything clean and are planning to remodel some common areas. He seems to enjoy the food. The staff is nice and was helpful when we were picking a community.

"Mom's move made easy at The Rivers!"

Moving my mom from another state was really tough. But The Rivers staff made it all smooth. Her new apartment looks great and the people there are always taking care of her. We checked out a few places, but The Rivers was definitely the best!

"Short Staffing and Medication Issues Mars Assisted Living Experience"

My mom stayed at this assisted living for a temporary visit. This happened just after a change in their directorship. The facility, unfortunately was poorly staffed, which meant they kept running short-staffed. Calls for help were not answered promptly: mom had to wait for around half an hour, at times, for a nurse or staff member to attend to her. Although their plan of care sounded good, the execution was lacking. I should mention here that most of the staff did show friendliness. A few staff members were exceptional, while two specific were really negative, though one of them left. The place was neat, generally speaking. But, I suspect they were having some problems with their janitorial staff's morale. My mother wanted to join in the activities offered there but staff often could not accompany her due to their shortage. What really troubled us was the medication administration issue. Mom, who has Parkinson's, is very careful about her medicine, but they consistently messed up her medication schedule and doses due to the shortage of staff.

"Nice Tour, but Too Pricey and Not Social Enough."

I visited The Rivers and it was okay. It cost a lot, and they provide more help than my mom needs. Some folks were just hanging out and not chatting much. It seemed nice, but it wasn’t exactly what we wanted.

"Smooth transition to The Rivers, Dad likes it here"

We recently moved my dad into an Independent Living apartment at The Rivers in Burnsville. I was worried he might have a hard time moving from his home of 30 years. It has gone much smoother than I expected. The staff at The Rivers is great. They communicate well and are very friendly. My dad likes the community. So far, so good.

"Perfect mix of care and affordability"

Mom has vascular dementia, so finding a home with a memory care center was important, and Amethyst has one. We had some issues to sort out before moving her, and everyone at Amethyst was patient, kind, and understanding—they never pressured us. Once everything was settled, Amethyst helped us move Mom into a clean, bright one-bedroom apartment. She went from refusing to leave her house to now wondering why we didn't do this sooner. She's meeting people, eating regularly, and is more mentally alert than she’s been in months. Amethyst is the perfect mix of a beautiful facility with a great staff. We feel very lucky. Plus, their costs are a bit lower than many other places, especially considering the services they offer. Everyone I've worked with truly has Mom's best interest at heart, and they’ve shown that since she moved in. I highly recommend them—I did a lot of research.

"Friendly staff and fun activities"

The staff here are super nice and always ready to help. The residents are friendly and easy to talk to. There are lots of fun activities for everyone, and the residents really enjoy them.

"Decent Care, Four Stars"

The Rivers facility is pretty good, and the staff takes good care of my loved one. I can’t think of any ways to improve.

"Mixed Experience at The Rivers Assisted Living Facility"

Things are okay at The Rivers. We're figuring stuff out. I wish his room was bigger. We had a few meetings to clear up some stuff. TV should be included, but they're not really focused on giving good service. The building looks old. But besides that, it's okay like I said.

"Assisted Living Staff Struggles with Responsiveness"

The people at The Rivers are nice, but sometimes they forget to do things they're supposed to. They don't always help my mom quickly when she needs it. They're supposed to take her to breakfast and lunch, but they don't always do it. They do answer my questions, though, and they try to fix things when they mess up.

"Marketing Excels, Quality Care Falls Short"

Our encounter with The Rivers was not satisfactory. At first, we felt they were great, thanks to their excellent salespeople who pitched the facilities well. Sadly, they didn't live up to many of the promises made, resulting in a poor deal considering the level of care compared to the price paid. The place needed more caregiver staff, as the existing ones seemed to be under heavy workload limits.

"Headline: "Avoid If You Anticipate Need for Increased Care""

If you're hunting for a place that offers independent living with the flexibility to upgrade to assisted living when required, steer clear of this place. I know of three couples from another nearby assisted living facility who had to vacate The Rivers when they required more extensive assistance. The independent living offered is satisfactory and the staff are pleasant, but when the necessity for more aid arises, the administrative personnel suddenly become not-so-friendly. They're quite willing to accept the fee for Independent Living, but my parents were compelled to relocate when they required greater care. This shift to a new facility was a particularly hard transition for my parents, especially because they had previously moved into a facility that promised to accommodate their escalating needs. The whole experience was deeply disheartening.

"Top-notch community with friendly staff but pricey for some."

When I went to The Rivers, it had everything I wanted in a community. The people were really friendly—they even told me about other places nearby. The place was super clean, but it was a bit expensive for me. If you want the best living experience, The Rivers is where it's at!

"Nice Community, Well-Maintained Facilities"

My mother-in-law lives in a one-bedroom apartment at The Rivers. The staff is friendly, and the leasing manager patiently helped her move in. She enjoys the food and has been there for 2 months, participating in some activities. Although it's a big change for her, she appreciates the washer/dryer in her unit. The whole place is well-maintained.

"Comfortable, friendly staff. Many services and social activities."

The staff is friendly, and the facility is comfortable. They offer many services and social activities. It's a bit expensive, but you won't need to move again since there are nursing and medical professionals on-site.
