"Prejudiced Assisted Living Facility Denies Entry Over Past Misconduct"
The tour of the facility was pretty impressive. We were provided three whole tours was especially helpful in assisting us in completing all the paperwork; a few application forms had been improperly filled out. Unfortunately, the individuals who held the power to accept or reject his application could not have been more unprofessional. I understand their apprehensions about his past behavior, but it seemed like they were somewhat punishing him and our family for causing them issues. It's a complicated story. They told hospital personnel: "He's only acting well-behaved because he knows he can leave this place if he behaves. He's going to be a problem and we don't want him here." Hospital staff had the impression that the nurse from Sanctuary who did the assessment had preconceived notions even before evaluating him. If the administration treats potential residents in this manner, I would be heavily concerned about letting my father-in-law stay there. Staff said it takes her between four to six weeks to sift through a single application, and she only handles them one at a time, moving to the next one only when she hits a roadblock.
