The Waters on Mayowood

"Assisted Living Facility Negligent with Sanitary Conditions and Care"
My mom lived in the Ponds neighborhood of the Waters at Mayowood in Rochester. She liked her neighbors and had fun with the activities. But, their cleanliness standards were bad. For a whole month, they kept using Depends and thick pads together. At the start of the month, the nurse agreed that it was not clean and said in an email that all workers would be trained and would need to confirm they know about cleanliness. But still, they kept using both pads even after we asked many times to take the pads out of her room. The smell of pee was terrible in my mom's room and her neighbor's room. I don't know how a worker could go into the room and not smell it. When my mom got confused, their first idea was to charge us an extra $[removed] a month for more care. But really, she had a urinary tract infection. I suggest that anyone thinking of moving their parents to the special care part of the Waters should take a tour and ask to see a room. Also, ask to see and understand their cleanliness rules.

"Poor Maintenance and Uncaring Staff at The Waters on Mayowood"
You shouldn't even consider moving into this place. The people in charge only seem to care about making money. The building wasn't built to last. If something breaks, you'll have to wait until the next working day, at the earliest, for them to even call maintenance. Any fixes that are needed will only be done by their own crew from the twin cities, no matter how critical the repair. Every other live-in center for older folks we've talked to would call a local repair shop and they'd be there in four hours or less. The folks in charge of maintenance at The Waters are not friendly and seem to always find ways to blame the residents for mechanical issues that happen because the equipment is cheap. Look for a better place to live for older folks because The Waters on Mayowood doesn't seem to really care about you or the people you care about.

"The Waters on a Budget"
I visited The Waters on Mayowood, and it looked really nice. But it was also the most expensive place I checked out. I chose a more practical community.

"My Tour: Assisted Living Review"
This place looked great when I visited. They had lots of fun things to do, and the staff in the memory care unit were friendly. They also help with transfers. But it was a bit pricier than what we wanted.
