"Decent Facility, Poor Night Care Due to Understaffing and Low Pay"
The building and meals at the assisted living facility are decent. However, the care provided, particularly during the night, leaves much to be desired. It's not unusual to wait for six hours after pressing the call button before someone arrives. These facilities are consistently understaffed at night. This is a common issue, not just at White Pine. They struggle to retain or hire the staff they need because these jobs are becoming less desirable. Frequent sick calls further exacerbate the staffing problem. The root of the issue in this industry is clear: the pay is simply not sufficient to retain staff. It's truly unfortunate.

"Poor care, broken promises, seek elsewhere for quality care."
The care was poor, staff unprofessional, no refund as promised.

"Staff Turnover and Limited Call System Concerns"
So far, it is OK. I'm a little disappointed with the staff because there seems to be a lot of turnover. One thing I didn't realize before moving in is that White Pines only has wall cords to pull for help. They really need pendants, but I don't think that will change anytime soon.

"Elder Neglect: Poor Care, Inadequate Staff, and Unsanitary Conditions"
Our beloved elder received dreadful care in memory care. The meals didn't have any flavor and they let our family member stay unattended in messy conditions for prolonged periods. The aides lacked understanding about managing memory care. We even witnessed the medicine passer giving our family elder her own medication and inhaler in our presence. The mattress was drenched in urine. Do we need to detail more?

"Disgusted with Neglectful Care, Family Moves Loved One Elsewhere"
This place is the absolute worst. My family and I totally agree with the previous review. It felt like our beloved family member was frequently left uncared for, resulting in regular incontinence. It got so bad that when we moved her to a different facility for memory care, we discovered her previously pristine pillow-top mattress and box spring were soaked through with stains. They had large urine stains all the way to the box spring, and her couch was no better. We even saw a staff member hand a resident their own cup of medicine as well as an inhaler. We tried bringing up these issues with the area representative for the facility and the nurse, but we were just told they were one-off cases. Needless to say, we no longer trust them with our loved one.

"Appalling Living Facility with Neglectful Staff and Poor Management"
This place is awful. Staff members ignore residents who need help for hours at a time. They don't answer call lights and don't stick to care plans. If you absolutely must put your loved ones here, I'd recommend setting up a camera in their room. Top management is even worse – incredibly rude and they simply don't care.

"Great Location and Friendly Staff"
My parents are still getting used to their new home. The place is very nice and the staff is very good. I think they do the best they can. The location was the most important thing for us, and this one was in the perfect spot.

"Kind and Friendly, But Not the Right Fit"
My tour of this place went well. Everyone was kind and friendly. The staff I met knew a lot and gave good information. It was a pleasant experience, and they were very nice to my family and me. It's a nice place, but it wasn't right for my mother and her needs.

"Friendly and Clean Community!"
The tour guide knew a lot and paid close attention. He answered my questions about the community. They have meal plans and beautician services. If residents need it, they provide transportation. Everyone was friendly, and the community was clean and well-maintained.

"Why Didn't We Do This Sooner"
It took about 18 months to convince my mom to leave her home of over 70 years and move to Assisted Living. She's been there for a few weeks now and seems to be adjusting well. She loves the food (especially since she doesn't have to cook or do the dishes), the friendly staff, the other residents, and the activities. She's eating better, sleeping less, and getting more involved in life. The staff, including Tawnee, Kari, and Allie, have been very supportive and welcoming from the start. Mom even asked if we were taking her home as we left her house in northern MN.
