"Heartless Assisted Living Facility Neglects and Endangers Loved Ones"

Never, ever take your relatives to this dreadful facility. They seem to have no regard for our loved ones. My mother needed the restroom in the middle of the night, but no one came even after she pressed the call button. Instead of assisting her, they made her sit in the cafeteria as a punishment. What kind of establishment does that...this terrible place, that's what. It's downright abusive. They instructed me to put my mom to bed on a night when she was extremely unwell. Thank goodness I didn't follow their advice. She passed away that night. This horrendous place needs to be closed down.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

I don't think I'd suggest this community to others for their loved ones. My family member fell, and the care staff and management didn't handle it well. The doctor gave instructions, but I believe the nurses should have recommended a different approach for my loved one's care. Before the accident, though, the staff were helpful when I had questions or concerns.

"Inadequate Care and Poor Service at Assisted Living Facility"

I was at this place after several surgeries, and while it looked nice, there was much to be desired. The whole place was decorated and the rooms were big. The rehab team was great, but the nurses and assistants weren't. Late-night help was slow, or nonexistent, and they weren't happy when you asked for help. Food times were always cut short for medicine distribution. My own anxiety and sleep issues needed medication, but it was never given easily. The doctors said I should take one three times during the day. But the nurses decided to spread the doses out over a day, making me wake at 4AM for the last one, despite my doctor's instructions, which was really dumb. The food was terrible, always cold, there was barely any of it, and you could barely taste it. They'd say certain items were available all the time, but they generally ran out of them. So, you were stuck with the horrible meals. I always wonder how everyone copes with such little food. Most of the employees weren't friendly, which makes you feel unwanted. I couldn't wait to leave even if I wasn't ready physically. I hope I never have to go back. Someone needs to look into the quality of nursing there and make it better. The people working there will grow old and need care like I did. They should keep that in mind the next time they're mean to a patient who, in fact, is helping pay their wages. If they don't like their jobs or patients, they should find a new job.

"Inept Rehab Center Unprepared for Dementia Patients"

My dad had a terrible time at this so-called rehab center, and he has dementia. These people just aren't ready for anyone with real health issues, like dementia, but they took him anyway just to make a buck. If you can't get by on your own, you should stay away from this place. But that's the problem - you wouldn't need rehab if you could handle everything yourself. It's a real catch-22, isn't it? My dad ended up back in the hospital after a bathroom visit supervised by their staff when somehow, the sink got ripped off the wall. Go figure. It wasn't until after all that they finally told me he couldn't come back, because they "can't handle patients with behaviors (like dementia)". They didn't have any real empathy and were only interested in collecting their money. They even lost his only pair of glasses.

"Pitiful Service and Disrespect at Grandparent's Care Facility"

My grandparents were here for a week after my grandma's hip surgery from a fall. It was the poorest service I've ever seen. Nearly all the workers were rude; when either of my grandparents needed to use the bathroom, they would often wait hours after pressing their call button, indicating they needed help. The staff treated everyone as if they were mindless, even though they were totally aware of what was going on around them. There was no respect or care given at all. I wish my family knew beforehand how terribly my grandparents would be treated here.

"Older Facility Lacks Entrance Cover"

My mom wasn't a fan of this place because it's an older facility without a covered entrance.

"Poor Service and Lack of Respect at Sherbrooke Villages"

There's a helper at Brighton who doesn't do her job right. She makes the people who live there wait around and sometimes outright ignores them. Sherbrooke Villages' bosses, including the head nurse, seem fine with this. They don't make any effort to improve the situation. The people who live there deserve to be treated with respect. They're the ones who pay the helper's salary. She shouldn't start complaining about them, especially not in front of their families or the other residents.

"Avoid This Rehab Center For Loved Ones Due to Neglect & Disrespect"

My mom-in-law was in this facility's rehab area for around a week. I wanted her to move out on the very first night, when she told me that she had to yell for help to use the bathroom because no one responded to her call button. My family and I even saw how long it took for the nurses to check on her after hitting that button. We got told two times that the button wasn't working properly, but it seemed more like they were just making excuses. We finally moved her out after she fell early one morning, and we learned that she had been on the floor for at least 20 minutes before help came. What's worse, the facility described the fall differently than how she did. They said that she fell because she was too impatient to wait for help, and guards were there just in time to lower her to the ground. But the truth is that she fell because a nurse didn't hold her securely and she slipped on that slick floor. She had a cut and a bruise on her knee as proof. The rest of the day, the nurse was super disrespectful to us as we waited for x-rays. They should have been more understanding, but instead, they were only arrogant and mean. Another thing that bugged me was that the staff didn't proactively help the patients, they only acted when asked (which could take up to 40 minutes!), like filling water cups or getting ice bags. I am begging you, don't send your loved ones to this rehab center. They'll be ignored and disrespected!!!!

"Affordable Assisted Living with On-Site Chapel and Care"

This place is a faith-centered community, mostly for Catholics. The outdoor spaces are pretty. The assisted living services are fine. It’s more budget-friendly than other newer places that aim to make a profit. One downside is you have to walk through the bigger skilled nursing areas to reach the Chapel, which can be a bit sad. It’s good that they have both skilled nursing and rehab care in the same place as the assisted living. Our dad was in rehab here and he tried the food, which is the same food they serve in assisted living. But it was often cold by the time it got to him, so he didn’t like it much.

"Unpleasant Staff and Theft in Senior Home"

I was hopeful at first for this place for my Mom. The first week seemed fine when she was in rehab, but things were different once she moved to long term care. A lot of the long term care staff don't act kindly. They make you feel like a bother when you interrupt their private chats, even after you've been waiting at the nurses station for 5 minutes without being noticed. The worst part was when we found out that someone had taken $10.50 from her makeup bag... Seriously! Stealing from an old lady is just wrong!

"Thrilled with this place!"

My mom moved into this community, and things have been going well. The staff are friendly, and the living environment is positive. She enjoys dining and the weekly activities. Overall, we're very happy with this facility and recommend it.

"Sherbrooke’s staff is super caring"

The folks at Sherbrooke Village did more than expected to make sure my mom had everything she needed. My mom can be tough, but the staff at Sherbrooke were patient and kind.

"Detestable Experience at Sherbrooke Assisted Living Facility"

Absolutely AVOID this place for your loved ones. The way the staff at this place spoke to me is truly unacceptable! After enduring a single night, I moved to Green Park Rehab. The team at Sherbrooke is just plain unkind, indifferent, and can be really mean. The nursing team doesn't behave any better quite honestly. The manager mentioned that I wasn't the only one who had issues with the one staff member. [Removed] Lucky for me, I was able to stand up for myself and had family stepping in as well. It makes me sad to think of those who might not be able to defend their own rights. I would NEVER take my pet to this place, let alone any vulnerable human being!

"ATROCIOUS SENIOR CARE FACILITY"

Keep your loved ones far from this place. I've never been treated so disrespectfully in any assisted living facility before! I could only stand one night before I relocated to Green Park Rehab. The employees at Sherbrooke are unkind, uncaring, and downright unpleasant; the nursing staff aren't much better. The manager even acknowledged to me that the individual causing issues had several negative incidents on her record. Thankfully, I was able to advocate for myself and my family got involved as well. I pity anyone without the ability to fend for themselves in this place. I wouldn't dare even bring my dog here, let alone a human being!

"Sherbrooke Village Feels Like Home for Rehabilitation Needs"

I've stayed at Sherbrooke Village a few times in recent years. They really understand me and make me feel like I'm part of their family. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else for my rehab.

"Sherbrooke Village is excellent for knee rehab and recovery."

I had rehab at Sherbrooke Village after my first knee replacement. I was so pleased with my care that I came back for my second knee replacement. I really appreciate the Alexian Brothers, and Sherbrooke is a great place for rehab and recovery.

"Incompetent Staff and Inadequate Care Lead to Tragic Loss"

I implore you, don't send your loved ones to this atrocious place. The night staff seemingly have zero interest in doing their job. There have been instances where you could wait the entire night for assistance. I recall a situation where my mom was reprimanded for using the call button repeatedly - they told her she was being a nuisance. But she was unwell and in need of care. The aide went into her room, forcefully pulled her out of bed, injuring her arm, and then relocated her to the dining area to stop her from pressing the call button. On a different occasion, my mom's call button was purposely put out of her reach by the staff, reflecting their laziness and total unfitness for working in a care facility. There was a time when my mom was struggling to breathe and the nurse casually advised me to put her to bed, claiming she would be fine and a sign to worry would be if her lips turned blue. Can you believe that? I, of course, didn't heed her advice. Tragically, my mother passed away that very night. It's utterly appalling.

"Subpar Staff, Terrible Care at The Lodge Assisted Living"

The Lodge is a terrible place with a hugely unfriendly staffing situation. Both Registered Nurses (RNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) alike are disrespectful and lazy. During my mother's short stay for her post-operation recovery, we faced nothing but disappointment. The physical therapy department was fantastic, but the rest of the journey was less so. On her first night, the CNAs showed alarming neglect, manhandling my mom due to her weakened state and leaving her unassisted in the restroom. She was reduced to shaky self-dependence – a blatant disregard for her dignity. We even asked for an extra blanket which was never brought. The next morning, I lodged a complaint with the administration, but I severely doubt it had any impact. My mom was neglected by an RN for almost 48 hours without the necessary initial assessment. The call button was futile- it took over two hours to get the necessary assistance. Understaffed? That's an understatement. The dining experience there was intolerable. My mom would sit at the table for over an hour before being served a meal that was often no longer available. Interestingly, the medical team is worth commenting on. Our appointed doctor was unprofessional and meddlesome. I had to call my mom's personal doctor for advice. He kindly ordered some tests but was met with rudeness by the RN. We later had the doctor call in, but her request to speak to the Director of Nursing was left unanswered! My mom only had prolonged time there, thanks to my diligent sisters and me. But it baffles us, considering the vulnerable people with no one to look out for them. The nursing staff here doesn't show empathy or compassion but false advertisement does a great job in disguising that. I'd strongly advise against bringing your loved ones here unless you plan on ensuring their care yourself for 24 hours.

"Cold, Unhelpful Staff at Assisted Living Facility"

Our mom stayed here for a week which she needed for respite care. Her wedding ring went missing on day 6. The staff were very unkind and dismissive about the whole ordeal, particularly the social worker. They showed no interest in helping us sort out the problem. It was frightening and gut-wrenching, thinking that our mom had been mistreated. I strongly advise against leaving your loved ones at this facility.

"Absolutely Atrocious Assisted Living Facility"

1 star is too generous. This place is not fit for anyone's pet. My mom was there for 8 months. Everything was okay for two months, then everything just got worse. They don't have enough staff. It's almost impossible to find help. When I do find a nurse, they just direct me to find an aide. All they do is seat patients in front of a TV all day. And, they put them to bed too early - at 6:30pm. Their billing system is not right. They keep charging us for stuff my mom never used. She lost several clothes while she was there too. Even though we washed her clothes ourselves, so no one else should've had them! About 30 days ago, my mom was sick. They ran "tests" and said everything was fine. But when I got the nurses' reports for her new place, I found out she had E Coli then! They never told us! Everyone working here has a terrible attitude. The receptionist won't even say hi or acknowledge anyone who walks in. And don't even think of getting a callback. Please, please look at other places before even thinking of sending a loved one here.

"Avoid This Facility: Disastrous Care and Ignored Complaints"

Absolutely do not let anyone you care about stay here! The staff are uncaring, lack basic communication abilities and they simply don't show any concern. My loved one's oxygen levels, food requirements, vital signs and cleanliness are not being checked. When requesting simple items like water or a painkiller, the staff just laugh and walk away, fully aware that they won't return. This place is a disaster just waiting to happen. It's not even a matter of being short-staffed. There are loads of workers just hanging around chatting as if they have nothing to do. How pointless is it to have a new $13.5 million building to look after your dear ones if you're scared to leave them there alone due to lack of care? If you put in a complaint, they don't fix anything - they just tell you who they think is to blame. You must not let any loved ones stay at this place. I'm stunned that this place has any more than a one star rating. If I had the option, I'd give it no stars. Please go and look at their other low ratings and reviews on Yelp. It would be risky to leave someone you love here. Be seriously careful!!!

"Subpar Care at Facility Leads to Severe Health Issues"

A friend of mine, who used the wheelchair and for whom I was a caretaker, lived at this facility for four years. I visited her multiple times per week. During the last three months of her life, I believe she experienced neglect that I find unacceptable. She regularly had urinary tract infections, up to three times in her last year. The last one even caused additional infections due to the antibiotics used. She repeatedly complained of pain in her backside for weeks. She then developed a blood clot, lost her appetite and was no longer able to get out of bed. Two weeks before her passing, the hospice was called and she was given morphine. Every time her undergarments were changed, she would cry in pain. Concerned, I asked to see why her backside was so painful and was shocked at the sight of severe bed and heel sores. The facility told me these were "Kennedy Ulcers", which supposedly cause death within 24 hours. But decubitus ulcers come from neglect, and she had been complaining for weeks. I do not suggest anyone pick this facility for their loved ones.

"Aged Staff, Dark Decor in Slightly Depressing Nursing home"

This is a nursing home that looks pretty dark, sad, and depressing. Even though it's in a good place for us, the workers were on the older side. It was painted a sad, dull green and the furniture was dark. Some pieces even looked run down. At least the place was clean, but it didn't feel warm or welcoming.

"Much Better Care at the Lodge"

After a horrible experience with another part of Sherbrooke Village, I told them I was moving my loved one somewhere else. That's when they moved him to the lodge. The social worker asked if we'd be happy there, and I said I just wanted my loved one cared for. The lodge was completely different. The service and care were much better, and the people were nicer. They brought food from the other place but said I could bring food for him if he'd like. They took him in his wheelchair to the dining room, and he sat with familiar faces, which I thought was nice. It was a much better place for him than the other part of Sherbrooke.

"Avoid This Facility—Lacks Compassion And Timely Assistance"

Our initial days at this place were dreadful. A woman in a room nearby kept crying incessantly. They brushed her off saying "She does it often" even though she was on the floor all the time. I had to intervene and report to the desk that she was on the floor. In another incident, my husband's roommate had been waiting for assistance for 20 minutes after pressing the call button. When my husband fell from his wheelchair, it took them the same amount of time to appear, only after I had rushed to the head nurse's station to find someone. Throughout all this, the nurse's aide was continually complaining. Their lack of empathy and compassion is unsettling. Such individuals should not work with these patients. This is supposed to be a center specifically for stroke patients who truly need extra compassion.
