"Feels Like Home, Not an Institution"
I'd tell a buddy, this place feels more like a home than a cold building. We checked out other spots, but they weren't as warm or welcoming.

"Mixed Experience at Trustwell Living"
My family member lives at Trustwell Living of Raytown. The workers there are really nice, but they don't have enough staff. The place is clean, though!

"Personalized Care and Spacious Apartments, with Room for Improvement"
I really liked how they pay attention to each of us personally. All the staff are there whenever we need them. There’s no go-between. The apartments are big. I wish they had a barber or hairdresser come in once a month. Sometimes the cleaning isn’t the best. After two months, we did see a bug, but they said they called an exterminator. The activities they offer are really fun.

"Caring Staff Provided Excellent Care for My Brother"
They really tried hard to help us in a tough situation. My brother was only there for 2 1/2 weeks before he passed away. We were very happy with the care he got while he was here. They seemed to truly care and worked to make him comfortable. Even though they didn't know how to handle his colostomy bag at first, they worked hard to learn and take care of him. Everyone we talked to had a caring attitude.

"Nice place with turnover; great meals and festive celebrations."
Trustwell Living has some staff changes, like many places now. This can be frustrating because they have to keep training new people, and it takes time to get to know them. But the staff members are all very nice. When we started, we worked with [name removed], who isn't there anymore, and she was really helpful. She explained everything to us very well, which we liked. The food is really good. We enjoy the birthday parties they have every month for the people who live there. We also like the nice holiday parties and dinners they have. They really wanted families to come and enjoy the parties and dinners too. They sent us invitations by email and gave us plenty of time to reply. Based on our experience so far, we would tell other families to think about this community.

"Location preference influenced decision despite positive facility impression."
We visited Trustwell Living in Raytown and really liked everything we saw. The only issue was the location. Since our family lives north of the river, it would have been too far for them to drive.

"Great Community with Daily Activities and New Food Choices"
I think if you have a chance to get your family member into this place, you should definitely do it. I've even told other people they should bring their family here too. The meals are pretty good, and they're starting to offer even more food options soon. They've got new people working here now, including the bosses. Every day there's something different for the people living here to do. They can go to church, play bingo, study the Bible, go on outings, make art, and lots more.

"Poor Staffing and Care Experience"
They don't have the same staff all the time. There are many temporary workers and only a few regular ones, so they don't really get to know the residents, and vice versa. The staff who handle medications aren't trained well enough. Plus, there's no registered nurse to make important decisions. My loved one didn't receive the care we expected. Overall, it was a bad experience for us.

"Facility's Declining Care and Lost Jewelry Spark Concern"
We were once really pleased with how they looked after our mom at this assisted living facility. She was happy and we felt good about it. But in the past couple of years, it's all gone downhill. The place isn't clean, and most of the workers don't seem to care. We tried to complain to the management several times, but no one ever called us back. Even one of the nurses who we liked a lot quit because she couldn't stand seeing how the place was run. Our mom's forgetfulness got worse, and suddenly, my brother noticed that all her real jewelry, including her wedding ring, watch, and gold chains, were gone. I'm not going to say who I am until my mom is out of that place.

"Friendly Assisted Living with Communication Challenges"
We picked Bickford of Raytown because they said my relative could have meals in her room without extra cost. Other places charged for that. The staff sometimes got confused about this policy, causing communication issues. Despite that, they’ve been very friendly and accommodating to our family.

"Bickford Senior Living: Overpromises, Underdelivers—Do Your Research"
I definitely wouldn't suggest picking Bickford Senior Living at Raytown for your dear ones. They've made big promises but failed to meet them in every challenge we've encountered. They'll tell you the things you're hoping to hear but won't truly deliver on them. I strongly advise doing your homework on them.

"Disappointing care and a bed bug issue at this facility"
Do not move in here - the management will make you feel like everything will be great until you sign their contract. After that, you're left to fend for yourself. The helpers don't seem to care about the people living here and they don't know how to handle people with memory problems. The place looks old-fashioned. They claim they can take care of people with memory issues but they can't. Plus, there's an issue with bugs all over the place, on every floor. Unless you're okay with these problems, I wouldn't even consider staying here until they fix the infestation. I advise looking somewhere else for such a place.

"Facility Review: High Community Fee, Delayed Phone Response, Staffing Needed"
This place charges a big $4500 fee just to join. When I called, the phone rang a lot before someone picked up. They should hire more people to help out.

"Great staff, friendly community, and nice apartment."
The staff are doing a great job. My mother-in-law is getting used to living here. She has a nice apartment and is making friends. She’s joining in some daily activities and has even gone on a few outings. She isn’t too fond of the food. When we visited, we met the director, who is very involved. It’s a smaller community, and I would recommend it.

"Limited Menu for Diabetics; Otherwise Great Staff and Care"
My family member just moved here, and we're happy so far. The workers are always nice when we visit. I trust them to take care of her. The only thing I wish is that they had more food options for her since she's diabetic. Right now, they only have three choices, and she gets bored of them.

"Decent tour, found better fit for Mom's needs elsewhere."
I took a tour of this place, and it was pretty good. Everything was fine, and the people who worked there were really nice. The place looked good, and it seemed like they took good care of it. I had to think about a lot of things before deciding where to move my mom. Eventually, I found another place that was better suited to what we needed. But, the tour of this place was still good.

"Pricey Care and Poor Communication at Assisted Living Home"
We picked Bickford for our mom because it was the only Place Two certified assisted living we found quickly, and it had a peaceful, home-like feel. But, in less than a month, we saw that their nursing service and communication weren't up to the mark. The head nurse couldn't clearly explain why they were charging us for the highest level of care, it took ages to organize medicines, and even more time to arrange a team for therapy. It took three whole days to get a urine sample for a UTI test mom thought she needed. We realized Bickford wasn't the right fit for mom and found another place offering similar care, but cheaper by around $1,500 per month. This new facility gives rides every single day, unlike Bickford which only offered rides on Monday and Wednesday. This made arranging appointments or trips out really hard. We told Bickford we were leaving less than a month after we moved mom in. The director said we needed to give a whole month's notice, as the contract stated. But, she also told us to pay for every service, including TV and the emergency call button, even if we left and didn't use them. This isn't clear from the contract, which seems to separate rent from other service charges. Despite some lovely staff, especially the activities coordinator, we were glad to leave a place that's too focused on money, charges too much, and is bad at communicating with families or agencies working with it.

"Great Place for Mom's Care"
I think this place is always clean and neat. I'm not worried about anything. The people who work here are nice and supportive. They take good care of my mom. It feels like there's an outing almost every week, and they have things to do every day. The food tastes really good, and they give you the right amount to eat. I'd tell others to check out this place for sure.

"Tricky Pricing, Cozy Space: A Mixed Experience"
We enjoyed it; it felt cozy and small. But the separate pricing made comparisons tricky. Luckily, we found a flat-rate place we adore.

"Bickford of Raytown: A Happy New Home"
We were in a rush to find a place for my father-in-law after he left the rehab center. He lives in Kansas City, and we are in North Carolina. Allyson at Bickford was amazing! She was always available by phone, even after hours. She set everything up so all I had to do was come to town, move his things, and make sure he was comfortable. He is very happy with his new home. The staff is very caring.

"Great Place with a Fantastic Host!"
This place was awesome! I really liked the location, and Carol was an amazing host and tour guide. She showed us the actual apartment my mom could have, but since it was our first tour, we want to check out a few more places before deciding.

"Mixed feelings, but overall satisfied with assisted living arrangements."
Our Dad's move to Bickford at Raytown was pretty easy with the help of the staff. They were nice and helpful, both the office people and the nurses. His room is big and feels cozy, like home, which is nice. He also feels more independent here. But one thing that was a hassle was dealing with his medicine. We had to fill his pill organizer, get refills, and send them to Bickford. It took a lot of time, especially since we live far away and have jobs. It would've been better if everything was done by one place. But the people from the pharmacy were nice and understanding. Despite this, we're okay with everything and look forward to moving Dad to the Assisted Living section where he'll get more help.
