"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short in Care and Maintenance"

My mom's been at Brookdale Wornall for over ten years, before Brookdale Senior Living took over. But things haven't been great since the change. Brookdale seems to try to save money wherever it can. The carpets are worn, the woodwork is chipped, and needs paint, and the elevators often break down. The fire alarms go off so much that the fire department comes almost every day -- and most of the time it's not even a real emergency. A real fire could be very dangerous. The security at the front door isn't consistent. Anyone can walk in without being stopped. When my mom was in independent living, things were okay. She enjoyed some of the extras and liked the staff. But when she moved to assisted living, the problems started. Nursing care isn't consistent, especially at night, and it takes a while for someone to respond when she pushes the call button. We have to lock up her diapers and wipes because staff take them for other residents.

" "Poor Leadership and Unkept Promises Mars Brookdale Experience""

We picked Brookdale for our dad and were originally pretty happy during the sales part. Since we live far away, we felt good about promises that they'd keep an eye on his safety and well-being everyday with a check-in button and some plan to follow-up. Sadly, and really bad for my dad, those plans weren't properly carried out, and the higher-ups didn't seem to care. We saw that Brookdale didn't have enough staff, had really bad and almost laughable leadership, and messed up a bunch of times when trying to give us quick, correct, and honest information. Even though a lot of the day-to-day workers were nice and caring, and the food and place were okay, at the end of the day we really wished we hadn't picked Brookdale Wornall Place.

"Welcoming, Social, and Comfortable Community Experience"

The first time I walked into Brookdale Wornall Place, I felt really welcome. The big entrance area is roomy with comfy seating areas where you can chat, and there's a nice staircase going up to a library on the second floor. Everyone, the staff and the people who live there, had big smiles! They've managed to fulfill all of my important needs and most of the things I'd like to have, but the best thing about being here is the friends I've made. The residents come from all over the country and have all kinds of backgrounds. We can join in on as many or as few activities as we want. They have a lot of different things going on, so there's something for everyone. I really think I've found my home for good here.

"Mixed Feelings: Friendly Environment, But Food Needs Improvement"

We've had mostly good experiences at Brookdale Wornall Place. The people are really friendly here, and it's a good value compared to other places. I feel very safe here, and having a garage is a nice perk that not many places offer. Our apartment is nice, though I wish there was a washer and dryer included. You have to go down the hall to do your laundry. Sometimes it's tough to get repairs done quickly, especially if a part needs to be ordered and it's not urgent. One big problem is the meals - they're just not good. They're repetitive and the quality isn't great. Most people I talk to here feel the same. Despite the food, there are many positives that outweigh this issue, but it's definitely a downside.

Moving in was easy, and the rooms are nice. I'm not thrilled about the limited communication, but I understand.

We haven't visited the place, but our loved one seems happy. The sales lady, [name removed], was great. However, the bus service has been disappointing.

"Decent Visit to Assisted Living Found Better Fit Elsewhere"

I had a pretty good time visiting this place. Everyone was really nice to me and my family. The place looked nice and everything was clean and organized. The staff told us a lot of useful things and they were really polite. They answered all our questions. It was a good experience, but we found another place that suited me better.

"Nice Tour, Worth a Look!"

We visited this place while searching for care options for a loved one. I thought it looked like a really nice place overall! All the staff I met were friendly and professional, and the facility was clean and well-kept. We chose a different community in the end, but I think this one is worth checking out!

"A Nice Place for Mom to Stay!"

My mom just moved into Brookdale Wornall Place's independent living section. The workers are nice and ready to help her anytime. The place is clean and neat. Mom thinks the food is okay. They also have lots of fun stuff for residents to do.

"Intrusion-Filled Dangerous Facility with Inexperienced Medical Staff"

My apartment got robbed eight times in less than two months. They messed up my medicine three times during that time. I caught them entering my place unlawfully while I was still in bed. Even my physical therapist cut me loose because he admitted to not knowing about my Charcot Marie Tooth disease. I told the CEO, Mr. Wood, and the local police about the thefts. That only angered Mr. Wood who threatened to kick me out and even started the paperwork. The cops told Mr. Wood that he's not a police officer and should have reported the first robbery to them. I left. BEWARE OF THIS DANGEROUS PLACE, IT'S RISKY TO LIVE THERE.

"Disappointing Visit to Grand Court Assisted Living in Kansas City"

They talked about the programs they offer and asked about my interests. Staff mentioned the deposit is $5500, which is way over my budget. He then got me a wheelchair, and we toured most of the facility. I didn't get to meet many of the staff, which made it feel like a ghost town. However, there was a staff meeting happening because they're changing their name and joining a new chain, with an open house planned. We checked out the rooms, which were really small! They triggered my claustrophobia, and I started hyperventilating. Plus, they were pricey for their size. When I mentioned this to my neighbor, she was surprised. She said her friend has a bigger apartment than mine and only pays $2500 a month. I'm not sure if that's true, but I can't afford Grand Court.
