"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short for Alzheimer's Care"
The person in charge of advertising was new, only her second day when she met us. We explained that my family member had memory problems, but she promised they'd take good care of her and offer activities. But on day 5, she called and said they couldn't handle Alzheimer's. They seemed ready to help, but we were let down. Might be okay for some, but not for everyone.

"Disappointing Staff, Poor Condition Haunt Assisted Living Facility"
Frankly, this place is the worst I've ever seen. There's a picture of a waitress served over a couple that feels like false advertising. I've realized that the same couple appears in numerous nursing homes. As for the staff, at least 90% of them seem to not take their duties seriously. They resort to giving residents peanut butter sandwiches to substitute as caretakers. Yes, they prefer to rest or nap over doing their jobs. Though they do bring in talented folks for performances, it's still not a place I'd ever consider. Not even for my dog. When I visited, the presence of bed bugs revealed how poorly maintained it is.

"Underwhelming Care and Poor Medical Attention at Assisted Living Facility"
The image they display of a woman helping an elegantly dressed couple is amusing because nobody really dresses up like that for meals here. The meals served aren't luxurious, they’re more like what you'd expect in a military canteen. There is little monitoring of the residents, they are expected to take care of each other. If you're in pain, getting your pain medication or regular medicine can take a while. It might be okay if you can stay with your loved ones around the clock, but I wouldn't leave anyone there unattended. They're slow in responding to medical needs and the house doctor isn't particularly competent.

"Could use more light and cheerfulness, not our top pick."
When I went to this place, I wasn't very impressed. It was too dark for me. The people there were quiet and seemed uncomfortable. I didn't think it would be the best place for our loved one. The staff showed us around, but it wasn't the right place for me.

"Awful Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
There was one nurse who was really nice to my grandma. But besides that, I think the other staff neglected her, and she ended up leaving with dehydration and pneumonia. Even though it was an assisted living facility, I can't understand how she could come in and then leave a month later in such bad shape. I don't have anything good to say about them. The first floor was clean, but the rest of the place was dirty. Overall, my experience was terrible, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

"Awful Experience, Would Not Suggest This Assisted Living Home"
One nurse did well by my grandma in this assisted living facility. Sadly, the rest of the staff seem to have let her down as she ended up with dehydration and pneumonia, just a month after she had moved in. This just doesn't add up for an assisted living home. Honestly, I struggle to find positives about this place. Yes, the first floor was clean, but the rest was dirty. My overall experience there was really bad and I certainly wouldn't advise anyone to go there.

"Very Pleased with Heritage Village of Gladstone"
My mom has been doing great at Heritage Village of Gladstone. The whole place feels warm and comforting. I’m confident she’s getting excellent care. The staff, food, and everything else are top-notch. The only thing I’ve noticed is that Mom needs a little more encouragement to shower regularly. Overall, we’re really pleased.

"Assisted Living Experience: Mostly Good with Minor Flaws"
My mom had some complaints, but I haven't seen them. Overall, they've been helpful, especially during our move-in. Noticed a few small issues, like a light out in the hallway. No big problems so far. They're probably a bit above average.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
My mom's been there for seven weeks. She's adjusting slowly. Her room's nice with all her stuff. She hasn't joined activities due to balance issues and walks with a walker. She also has macular degeneration. We chose this place for round-the-clock care, which she gets, but some nights are tough for her.

"Assisted Living Review: Brighter Spaces, Accessible Amenities Needed"
I think the Gladstone place was too dim, which was hard for my Mom and Aunt because they can't see well. I wanted a place where they could have their own living room, but that wasn't an option. I was worried because all the rooms had bathtubs, and my Mom and Aunt can't use them safely. Even with help, my Mom struggled. The outside area wasn't very welcoming either. But the Platte City facility had a nice outside area that was easy to get around, being only one level. If they had rooms with private living spaces and walk-in showers, I might have thought about it more. It was nice though. I even ran into an old friend who enjoys living there. I appreciate that they check on people if they miss meals.

"Gladstone Assisted Living Review"
The Gladstone facility was too dark for my Mom and Aunt. They have low vision. I wanted a place with their own living room, but it wasn't available. All rooms had bath tubs, which they couldn't use. Mom couldn't even with help. The outside area wasn't inviting. But the Platte City facility had a nice outside area and was only one level. If there were rooms with private living rooms and walk-in showers, I might have considered it. It was nice. Saw an old friend who likes living there. I like that they check up on residents if they miss meals.

"Mixed Feelings About Heritage Village Assisted Living"
We visited Heritage Village and thought it was nice, but it didn't match what my mom needed. She uses a scooter to move around, and we were concerned because we couldn't find fire exits that she could use quickly in an emergency. Also, we felt like there weren't enough staff members available to assist her if something happened. Additionally, we thought the community was a bit more expensive than what we were prepared to spend.
