Southview Assisted Living & Memory Care
Jeanette
"Good Looking Facility but Poor Training and Care"
Though the place looks nice and new, it's run by a company focusing on making money rather than caring for the residents. The workers in the memory care unit don't seem properly trained to help those with dementia. They're not good at getting them involved in social activities. Families should definitely keep an eye on the rooms and what's happening. I noticed staff talking to each other and residents not interacting well, or sometimes not at all. Training doesn't seem important to this money-making company.

"Considering Southview for Assisted Living"
I really like Southview, even though I don't live there. I visit my friend four times a week. She complains about the staff who give her medicine, but I'm not sure if they deserve criticism. The residents seem comfortable, and the ones I talk to seem happy. When I need Assisted Living, I'll consider Southview.

"Beware of Understaffing, Lack of Assistance at Assisted Living Facility"
This place looks nice, yet the care might not be what you're looking for. Double-check everything, ask any and all questions before moving a family member here. This place might suit them if they're independent and don't need any help, but if they do require assistance, be careful! There's not enough staff here, and they tend to quit a lot. If you try to talk to the bosses or the big shots from the headquarters, just remember they might not listen and will just refer you back to the local facility without addressing your issues.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living Staff and Services"
About the food and eating area, we don’t really have a say. The agreement mentions that guests can buy their own meals, but things are different with the current health situation. The team here is friendly, especially one caregiver who really puts in a lot of effort. However, some staff members are often seen using their phones. If they’re taking a break, they should head to the break room. It doesn’t seem right to do that around here.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
My mom stayed here for less than four months. She couldn't see well, and money got taken from her room multiple times. The laundry wasn't done regularly, and sometimes she wasn't dressed until after 11:00 AM. They messed up her medicine doses too. We paid extra for these services. When she left, they said we wouldn't get much money back because of apartment damages. We took pictures of every wall, and there was no damage. They can't prove any repairs were needed. After leaving, you still pay full price for a month, even for services like bathing, dressing, and meds that she wasn't using. Lastly, my mom fell because she had double pneumonia and wasn't getting enough oxygen. No one at the facility noticed she was sick until after the fall. She didn't return there.

"Assisted Living Falls Short on Warmth and Value"
This place felt chilly, and the staff wasn't friendly. The rooms were tiny, and it cost more than what we got.

"Family Tour Finds Assisted Living Satisfactory, Not Ideal for Mom"
The in-person tour of the assisted living facility was satisfactory. The staff appeared friendly and competent. However, we felt it wasn't the best fit for our mom at that moment.

"Assisted Living Tour Feedback: Professional but Lacking Warmth"
We toured the facility in person; the lady was very businesslike, not warm. She covered protocols and it felt sales-oriented.

"Caring staff, fun outings, great experience"
The staff at SouthView Assisted Living are very kind and caring towards the residents. They go above and beyond to meet their needs and keep them happy. The facility offers great outings into the community, giving residents a chance to go out with friends and have fun. We had a great experience at SouthView.

"Mixed Feelings: Clean Place, But Care Could Be Better"
My mom wanted to stay in a place she knew, which is why we picked this community. It looks great, very clean and well kept. The staff and administration seemed really nice and caring when we met them. But now, things are different. My mom needs more help than we thought, which is costing more money. We might have to hire someone else to help her because she's not happy here right now. The staff doesn't seem to fix problems even though they say they will. They don't seem to care much about my mom. They start helping her, then leave and come back later, leaving her alone.

""Unsatisfactory Experience: Avoid This Profit-Driven Facility""
My family member's stay here was less than satisfying, as there were problems regarding the medication. The nurses and other staff members seemed to lack good communication skills. Plus, there were several replacements in their nursing director's position. The care provided was not consistent and they were not accepting of any advice or suggestions. They were billing for services that were not even provided by them. It seemed as if their main focus was just to make money.

"Great tour, caring staff, worth visiting for loved ones' care."
The visit was good, and we liked the staff who answered our questions. It's a big place with helpful staff who answered our care questions. We recommend families check it out for their loved one's care and value.

"Memory Care Unit Leaves Impression"
Since this place was run by the same company as another we checked out, we focused on the Memory Care unit. I found it impressive, though my husband wasn't as keen. Most residents were in a central area with caregivers, so they at least left their rooms, but they weren't very active—probably because it was almost dinnertime. If we could afford it, this would be our top pick.

The community had an old, institutional look with long hallways. It felt crowded, and my loved one found it a bit loud. The staff were friendly, though.

"Great Activities and Friendly Staff!"
We visited this community and were really impressed. They offer many activities, and the staff are very friendly. Although they've been open longer than other places nearby, they keep everything nice and clean. My mom was on their waiting list, but another great community had space available first.

"New Living Home: Promising but Needs Improvement"
This assisted living place was what we were after. It's clean, and the top bosses are really nice. They seem to have trouble with staff though, because weekends can be tough. Things for the next week are hard to plan. Sometimes, my loved one gets her medicine late or misses a shower. Their physical therapy isn't too intense. The staff don't talk well with each other. The place is still quite new. We picked it because everything looked great and we knew people who loved it. The food can get kind of boring. But still, I'd probably give them a four.

"Bad experience due to inadequate care"
This place looked great and its staff were really nice. But the problem we faced was that they either didn't understand how much care my loved one needed, or they thought they could handle it better than they actually could. Overall, things were okay, until my loved one fell and got seriously hurt. It was a really bad experience, and I think it could have been avoided if her needs had been assessed correctly. After that, we moved her to a place that provides more care, and I feel a lot better knowing she's safer." .

"Reconsidering Southview: A Closer Look at Assisted Living Facilities"
I didn't like that one because it looked too much like a hospital. It felt gloomy and nobody seemed happy there. Maybe I visited at a bad time, but I wasn't ready for that. It seemed more like a serious nursing home. It was clean, though. I guess it's not Southview's fault, it's more my problem. Actually, that might be the kind of place we need soon. I just wasn't ready to see it. I'll go back to Southview, now that I'm thinking about it and more understanding of my mom's situation. I need to look at it differently now.
