"Facility Needs Improvements and Better Guest Management"
Some of the staff members were great, but overall, the facility feels old and is often understaffed. We never received an orientation, so we had to guess about things. I recommend they find a way to prevent guests from lingering at the main entrance. It's not a good look to see people in wheelchairs shuffling around or even sleeping (and snoring) there.

"Laundry Process Needs Improvement"
My family member’s main issue is how they handle laundry. I’ve told them it’s not a dry cleaner; it’s just basic laundry without much extra care.

"Affordable but Outdated Facility with High Caretaker-Resident Ratio"
Cedarhurst at Tesson Heights was the cheapest of all the places I checked, but it was also the oldest and not updated. It didn't look as nice as the other places I visited. The ratio of caretakers to residents was about 1 to 20 here.

"Assisted Living Facility Offers Friendly Care, Excellent Food, and Activities"
This place is really nice if you can't be at home. The staff is friendly and prompt with care. They try their best for my loved one, who's happy here. Communication with family is good. Housekeeping is weekly and well done. They offer many activities and outings. Outings are limited for wheelchairs, so there's a waitlist. Food is excellent with good variety. I'd recommend it to friends and family.

"Inconsistent Cedarhurst Experience with Mixed Facility and Staff Performance"
We went to two Cedarhurst places - Tesson Heights and Arnold. Tesson Heights said they could take care of my loved one at his current level (though I'm not sure they could), but Arnold wouldn't accept him. So, the overall Cedarhurst intake and assessment process seemed contradictory to me. If you could mix the warm, compassionate staff at Tesson Heights with Arnold's beautiful facility, it would be perfect. The Tesson Heights staff were very friendly, caring, and flexible, they really listened. Meanwhile, the Arnold staff weren't as attentive and seemed more focused on making sales.

"Great value and friendly staff with improved facilities."
We picked Cedarhurst because it offers good value and is great for our large family. The sales lady was fantastic and made things much easier. They recently changed management and made lots of improvements, so the place looks much better. They serve breakfast all day and have interesting menu options. They were featured on the news for their great food, which my parents love. Everyone here is very friendly. I like that they offer both independent and assisted living, so they can increase care if needed. I definitely recommend them to others.

"Renovated Assisted Living with Responsive Staff"
We chose Cedarhurst of Tesson Heights because they recently renovated the rooms with new carpet, paint, and cabinets. Although some areas are still under construction, it will be great once everything is finished. They’re responsive to feedback, which is reassuring. I recommend it to others.

"Need more staff for better care despite ongoing improvements"
They’re putting in a lot of effort to fix things that need work, but they currently need more senior care helpers. We know they’re short-staffed, but for the amount of money our loved one is paying, they’re not getting the care and attention they deserve.

"Loved One Dies at Tesson Heights - No Response or Refunds"
DON'T TRUST TESSON HEIGHTS WITH YOUR LOVED ONES! My mom moved in here on a Monday, and she was gone just a day and a half later! The staff, Senior Helpers, were a nightmare. They were impersonal, didn't even bother to introduce themselves or have a chat with me or my mom. I had asked them to remove her loose dentures at night, but they ignored it. I found the bathroom in a terrible condition, there was feces all over the toilet and her emergency alert system was broken in half. I truly believe their lack of care is what led to her death. It's been almost three months since she's gone, and they've yet to return the money I paid them. They've completely ignored my calls and emails. I've even reached out to their main office in Dallas, Texas. At first they seemed like they cared, but now they're just ignoring my calls. Weeks ago, I warned them I'd leave a bad review if things didn't change, but they didn't pay any attention. Please, even if it's going to cost you more elsewhere, it's worth it. Don't make the same mistake I did. Now, let's see if they actually let this review stay up since it's not a glowing recommendation...

"Nice place but food could be better"
This place is good for the money. My mom didn't like the food, though. The building is older but clean. They have lots of activities. The room sizes were fine. There's a back patio and garden area for the residents.

"Happy with Mom's move to Tesson Heights"
We picked Tesson Heights because it felt like the assisted living facility my mom moved from in Illinois. It costs less than half as much each month. Everyone there was very welcoming and still friendly, which helped Mom settle in quickly. Assisted living in Illinois is different from here, so Mom is in independent living with extra services from senior helpers. There was a learning curve at first for Mom, me, and the helpers since everything is included in assisted living. But after that, we're all good. Bottom line, we are so happy with Mom being at Tesson Heights.

"Mom Was Happy Here."
My mom stayed here for respite care, but sadly, she passed away after only three weeks. The community was nice and clean, and all the residents seemed happy. Mom had a spacious room where all six of us siblings could be with her during her last days. The staff was really attentive, and hospice made sure she was comfortable. They even have a theater room and plenty of dining options. Plus, they're pet-friendly and have therapy dogs visit.

"Limited accessibility, good for non-scooter users"
Right when I stepped in, I realized this wasn't my kind of place. It was pretty terrible. No accommodations for handicapped people. I ride a scooter and the doorways were too tight for me. I couldn't even access my room or the laundry. The staff was friendly, I just think the building was too old. The doorknobs were stuck midway up the door – out of my reach. If you like arts and crafts and don't use a scooter, it might work for you.

"Staff is awesome, facility could use updating"
The workers were really nice to me and my mom when we visited this place. They took the time to answer all our questions thoroughly and gave us a lot of useful info. My mom didn't really like how the building was designed, though. She said it felt too much like a hospital. I also think they could make the place feel more welcoming by putting brighter colors on the walls.

"Tour Disappointment: Old Feel and Not Quite Right"
When I toured this place, I didn't really like what I saw. The building was old and it felt gloomy inside. The people working there were friendly, but it felt more like a nursing home, which is not what we were after.

"Nice Staff and Clean, But Feels Too Much Like Hospital"
My visit to this place was mostly good. It was clean and the folks working there were nice to me and my family. But, it felt more like a hospital than a home to me. I don't think it is the best place for my uncle because of his needs.

"Community Tour: Nice Staff, Spacious, Consider Smaller Options"
I visited this place for my relative's care. The workers are friendly. The place is larger than we preferred. We were hoping for a smaller place so she could move around easily. They have many activities listed that she might enjoy. We recommend families to visit here for their loved one's care.

"Pathetic Profit Tactics at Tesson Heights"
This place is really not suitable for family members. The boss seems more interested in milking the residents for every penny and they bill for even tiny things. The people in charge make their staff work on everything except actually caring for the ones we pay them to look after. They make you pay extra for special care, but then they don't provide that extra service. The workers often seem overwhelmed and understaffed. You can see them running around, swamped with work. It's rare to see nurses helping out. The management just cares about making money for their business, not about your family member's wellbeing. You can probably tell from this that Tesson Heights is not the best.

"Didn't find what we wanted in elder care facility"
I wasn't really wow-ed by this place. The structure's pretty aged and the carpet's showing its wear and tear. We wanted an on-ground apartment with an exit straight outside, but they didn't have one open.

"Appalling Assisted Living Experience: Neglectful Care and Hidden Fees"
My parents' stay at this assisted living locale was entirely unsuitable, despite the staff's claims at the family conference that it was an ideal fit. My mom suffers from dementia and my dad's heart problems were steadily worsening. Rather than providing attentive care, the staff showed disregard, dealing with my parents as if they didn't need much interaction. Sadly, my mom, who is prone to falling, had 7 falls during her brief stay. Although the facility did propose further support for an extra $250 every week, it was quite unpredictable and at times, simply absent. We got the feeling they were more interested in collecting their fees than actually caring for my parents. After all the lackluster attentiveness and high expenses, my parents had no choice but to leave after only a month.

"Great care and friendly staff at Tesson Heights Assisted Living!"
My mom moved to Tesson Heights recently. The nursing managers, Rick and Latoya, are outstanding. Mom wasn't eager to leave home, but Latoya's kindness during her pre-move visit helped ease her fears. During the first week, the managers checked in personally to ensure she was adjusting well. Every staff member has been kind to her. Her apartment has enough space for most of her belongings, making it feel like home. The recent remodeling inside the building looks very nice. Thanks to everyone for taking such good care of my mom. I recommend Tesson to families looking for quality care.

"Great Bang for Your Buck!"
Tesson Heights is a good deal. It costs less than other places we've tried, and we're happy with what we get for the price. One thing they could do better is offering more activities. Having more options would help residents get involved.

"Friendly Staff and Cozy Atmosphere"
I really like the facility. The staff is super friendly and always calls when they need something. My aunt lives here. The only issue is that when she wants to sit by the window and no one else is in the room, they say she can't. I'm not sure why, but I'm sure there's a reason. We're thrilled that A Place for Mom recommended this place; otherwise, we wouldn't have discovered it.

"Top-Notch Security and Support from "A Place for Mom""
I really like this place. The people here are super nice. They always call me if there's a problem with Louise. Sometimes, though, they can be a bit strict when they correct her. But I guess it's necessary sometimes. Their security is really good. Once, there was a scary incident with a man carrying a gun, but they quickly locked down all the doors. I thought that was awesome. "A Place for Mom" did an excellent job helping us find this place. They really came through for us.

"Less Than Impressive Senior Living Option"
We checked out this place when looking for a senior living option for our family members. Honestly, it didn't wow us. The community was kinda small and we didn't see a lot of folks when we toured. Plus, it was a bit too far from our family's place.
