"Flooded Room Took Too Long to Fix"

I liked this community, but my loved one's room flooded. It took about three months to fix it, and we couldn't wait that long for all the repairs.

"Recommended with Some Flaws"

The staff who work directly with residents were great, but the office staff could improve communication. The place could be cleaner. I’d still recommend it to others, and I feel at ease with my mom here.

"Friendly, Clean Assisted Living Community"

The staff at the front desk is super friendly and helpful. The Fountains community is really clean, and the rooms they offer for residents are nice and quite clean too. We’d definitely recommend this community to others!

"Deceptive Marketing and Cold Management Mars Experience at The Fountains"

The Fountains retirement home is a well-established facility, featuring comfy apartments that cater to seniors in need of a place to retire. My mom was a resident up until her recent death. Initially, we were thrilled with the establishment, the lively daily schedule, and the comforting atmosphere they were selling. The organization invests noticeably in selling the image of a warm, welcoming home for our parents. Regrettably, once the initial move-in is over, residents seem to become just stats and money-makers for the establishment's profits. Despite maintaining an image of a loving retirement community, the reality is that the administration lacks the basic human warmth needed to constantly make residents and their families feel truly significant. After my mom's death, we met with the senior staff who promised to host a memorial and even provide transportation for any residents wishing to attend her funeral. To our surprise, none of that transpired. We didn't even receive a condolence card. While we were emptying Mom’s apartment, a few of her buddies came by, visibly distressed by the detachment shown by the home's administrators who claimed her funeral was infeasibly distant. Given the management’s missed promises for transport, we could’ve arranged shuttling had we known. A week after her death, we had to be the ones delivering the heartbreaking news to some of the staff who were oblivious to her passing. Unfortunately, it appears that sympathy isn't a strong suit for the management team. This nurturing community facade they promote is only a welcome mat to lure residents. This dismissive approach leaves the impression that our dear ones are mere dollar signs rather than cherished individuals. It’s heartbreaking that the Fountains leave such a dour memory.

"Mixed feelings about assisted living: isolation in memory care"

During the tour, it felt kinda lonely and not so welcoming. The hallways seemed fancy but reminded me of a rehab center. The Memory Care area didn't give a good comfort vibe; it felt more like being isolated. On the bright side, the Assisted Living part was nice, offering residents some freedom. But when it came to the price, they wouldn't budge even a little bit.

"The Tour"

In the tour, it felt lonely and not cozy. The hallways looked fancy, almost like a rehab center. The Memory Care area didn't feel comforting; it was more like isolation. On the bright side, Assisted Living was nice, offering residents more freedom. Unfortunately, they couldn't negotiate the price even a little bit.

"Guided Tour of Clean Assisted Living Facility"

We visited this place and the staff were helpful in responding to our care-related questions. The place was neat and well-kept. However, we didn't see much of what they had to offer. They had recreational activities for the individuals living there. We advise families looking for a care facility for their loved ones to take a tour here.

"Quitting Subpar Facility Met with Unfair Deductions and Unhappiness"

My mother-in-law stayed at this assisted living center for about a year. The biggest problem was the poor dining service. We often found the staff on the grumpy side, and they acted like any simple request was too much hassle. We tried having meals there a few times. One time, they just ignored us and then eventually told us off for not following their rules properly to have a meal with her. Plus, she wasn't happy with the food quality and ended up having peanut butter and jelly for supper often. The high rate of staff turnover was quite noticeable, and it was clear that the employees weren't too fond of their jobs. Thankfully, she's at a much nicer facility now. But when we left this previous place, they didn't take it well. We got a lower than anticipated refund. They said everything was fine with her apartment, but then they took money from her deposit, claiming they had to change the carpet. I wouldn't advise choosing this place. There are definitely better options available.

"Mom Thrilled with The Fountains of West County Senior Living"

My mom adores The Fountains of West County Senior Living. She enjoys everything there. The apartments are big and nice. She really enjoys the food. She likes the facilities, the pool, and the exercise classes. She wishes they had more exercise classes. She wanted more from the activities person. At first, she was unsure about moving there. But after 2 weeks, she knew it was the right place for her.

"Feels like home for Mom"

It is a beautiful place. It's bright, clean, and the staff is friendly and professional. It has the same amenities as other places, but I think my mom will like this one the best because it feels like home.

"Friendly atmosphere with promising upgrades."

Review: "Our family chose Gambrill Gardens for mom because of the cost and how friendly everyone was when we visited. We checked out several other places, but most felt rushed and unwelcoming. At Gambrill, everyone seemed happy. The recent construction has caused some temporary issues, but we’re looking forward to the upgrades. There are some long hallways, but there are elevators, and as mom passes by, it seems like everyone knows each other by name.

"Carefree Living with Great Staff and Friendly Residents!"

I love living at the Fountains because it lets me enjoy my older years without worrying about everyday chores. With those taken care of, I have more time and energy for activities and learning new things. I believe older people should live in communities to avoid loneliness and stay active, and that has proven true for me here. The Fountains has an amazing staff that keeps us busy with events, entertainment, and challenges, and they make sure we are well cared for. We also have a friendly group of residents who are welcoming. Overall, it's a carefree and independent lifestyle that is unbeatable!

"Joye’s Happy New Home"

My wife, is one of the first residents at “The Fountains of West County,” a new Assisted Living community. From the first day, we’ve found the staff to be super helpful and friendly, from the management and receptionist to the caring floor staff who take care of and the other residents. There are lots of fun activities that give everyone a chance to socialize. Thinks the food is really good, well-prepared, and there are different choices at every meal. As you can see, its very happy in her new home at “The Fountains,” and we, her family, feel confident that we’ve found a great place for her.

"A Wonderful Place for Mom"

The Fountains Assisted Living has been amazing for my Mom and has given me great peace of mind. At almost 100, she needed more help with daily activities and couldn't live on her own anymore. Here, she gets help with dressing, taking her medication, and bathing. Her apartment is just the right size, but she doesn't spend much time in it. She's encouraged to join activities that keep her active and her mind sharp. She's made new friends, and the staff makes it feel warm and welcoming. She's happy and comfortable, and I know she's safe and well cared for. The staff is remarkable. Her care is personalized, not institutionalized. She loves the food, and I love that she gets three balanced meals every day. She gets her hair done, nails manicured, attends ice cream socials, makes crafts, exercises, and plays word and board games. Not a bad life for anyone, especially a 100-year-old. I'm so happy we found such a special place for Mom.

"Carefree, Active Living with Great Staff and Friendly Residents"

I love living at The Fountains because it lets me enjoy my older years without worrying about daily chores. With those taken care of, I have more time and energy for activities and learning. "Great Place with Helpful Staff and Many Activities"

I moved here in March 2006 and have seen some changes, but everything is still good. The Fountains offers a lot, like card games and fitness classes. We also have a bus with fantastic drivers who take us to appointments, shopping, and more. We can go out to dinner or the movies whatever we want to do. The staff is wonderful and always ready to help, including housekeepers, maintenance workers, and the people at the desk. To me, the Fountains is like a home away from home. I’m really happy to live here.

"Caring Staff and Safe Environment"

My parents had to move to St. Louis from Pennsylvania to be closer to one of their kids. While searching for a place, we liked the apartments and facilities at the Fountains. My parents quickly bonded with Linda Iken-Robertson, who was the Assistant Director back then. They moved into the Fountains in August 2007. Since then, I've been really impressed with the programs and activities for my parents and the other residents. The most important thing is that I know my parents are safe in a nurturing environment. Linda, now the Executive Director, makes sure each resident's needs are met. She's quick to meet with family members to address any concerns and is always available for emotional support. Linda and her staff understand and respect the elderly and their families' concerns.

"...so far the community seems great!"

The community is currently remodeling. They've already updated some rooms, the dining area, and the common space. It looks like they're investing a lot of money back into the community, which is great! If there are any changes with my parents, they call us right away and keep us informed about discussions with the doctors. Overall, the value for what we pay is excellent. Everything is included except for the phone and Wi-Fi. Laundry, meals, and activities are covered. The rooms aren't the largest; we looked at other communities with more spacious rooms, but for the price, it's a good deal. The only downside is limited parking and the hilly terrain outside. But other than that, so far the community seems great!

"Facility Shortcomings Unveiled: Unhappy with Inadequate Service"

This assisted living facility is packed with individuals and too few staff available. It's tough to get a call back in a week, or even get dinner on time, waiting almost 45 minutes to eat. There's a need for more activity coordinators. Getting to any of the activities can be a hassle due to the short time frame between meals and activities and the overcrowded dining area. The ads don't match up to reality in terms of services provided. Some things aren't readily available during dinner, especially if you're dining at the later seating. Imagine waiting for days on end for iced tea, lettuce, mustard, or a choice dessert. They might argue that I could choose other options, but it's not fair. I have diabetes and need to eat promptly after taking my medication, but that's not always doable here. Compared to another community I stayed in, I find a lot of things unfamiliar here and many more are included at nearby Garden Villas at the same price. As a customer, I feel unheard and slighted. I was promised certain things that aren't provided, making me feel like the ads were hiding the real story. There's also the inconvenient issue of no bathroom connection in the single-bedroom flats. I guess I was mistaken in thinking the customer is always right.

"Friendly Staff, Limited Availability"

She, a very nice person, reached out to me. If my father didn't already live elsewhere, I'd seriously consider this place. Unfortunately, they don't have any available two-bedroom units.

"Pleasant Spot"

I had two options for my parents: this place and another one. Ultimately, I chose the other facility because it felt a bit brighter and more comfortable. Still, I was impressed by what I saw at The Fountains of West County. The staff were good people, and the facility was nice.

"Explored Facility, Not Really Our Preferred Choice"

We visited here while looking for choices. This one didn't really stand out for us. They were missing a pool table and getting the cable was too pricey. Though it was neat, and people working there seemed nice, it just didn't hit the mark for us.

"Awaited Assisted Living, Independent Option Available; Seeking Faith Community"

We liked it, but the assisted living part isn't open. Right now, it's independent living, and you can get help from a home health agency if you need it. We were hoping for a community that's faith-based.

"Safe and Friendly Assisted Living with Good Amenities"

We just moved in, but it's going well. It's nice and safe here. They really care about keeping us safe. The food is pretty good, and there are nice outdoor spaces.

"Experience Changed Over Time, Extra Charges Abound"

When we first came, the food was awesome, but it got really bad after a while. The place was huge. They had a ton of fun stuff to do. But they nickle and dime you for everything. There were too many misunderstandings. My experience wasn't the best, although it might be different now. They have health care right there, but it costs more. They even made us pay $400 for managing medications.

"Friendly Staff and Cozy Atmosphere"

I really like the facility. The staff is super friendly and always calls when they need something. My aunt lives here. The only issue is that when she wants to sit by the window and no one else is in the room, they say she can't. I'm not sure why, but I'm sure there's a reason. We're thrilled that A Place for Mom recommended this place; otherwise, we wouldn't have discovered it.
