"Good Staff, Some Communication Issues"
The team here really does their best to look after everyone. That goes for both places in the building. But it’s kinda hard to talk to the top people like the boss and the head nurse unless you send them an email. And even then, we had to check in with them again even though they said they’d reach out to us first. Also, when we first joined, it felt like we had to tell them the same stuff more than once. If you’re visiting and on the first floor, you might find the WiFi isn’t great. When my folks needed extra help, they got it fast, but we had to pay more for it. All in all, even though we’ve seen fancier places with higher prices, this place feels just right. It costs less and the people working here are great.

"Mixed Experience at The Gardens"
My family member lives at The Gardens at Barry Road, and our experience has been okay. The place is clean, and the care services and activities are alright. However, the food isn’t good. My main concern is with the staff—those on the second shift are great, but the other two shifts aren’t as good. Overall, it’s not a bad place, even though my ratings are low.

"Mixed Experience in Assisted Living Facility"
At first, things were confusing with new staff and not enough of them. They don't always cover all the care plan details regularly. It's a bit annoying since it's listed on the plans. They say it's because of staff changes or not having enough staff. The food is okay, but sometimes the quality isn't great. They're not very involved in many activities. The community is nice, but there's room to improve. Our family thinks they should better explain care plans to residents and staff. Also, they should make the food quality better.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The food needs improvement, and they didn’t check on my mom as often as promised. However, the facility looks inviting.

"Close to Home with Varied Food Quality"
They try their hardest with what they've got. Some days the food is nice, other days not so much. Breakfast is usually good. The price is fair for what you get. I chose this place because it's near my house.

"Great tour, perfect room, but no memory care available"
This was our third pick. The tour was great, and they had a perfect room available, close to the kitchen. Unfortunately, they didn’t have memory care available at the time.

"Assisted living facility disappoints and fails to meet needs"
We just didn't feel right about this place for our family member. It didn't meet our expectations or needs.

"Unreliable Staff and Lack of Care at Assisted Living Facility"
Our mom lives here now and it's just terrible. They've had three different directors, along with three leaders for memory care, all in just a year and a half. Right now, they don't even have anyone in charge of activities or personal care. The staff from the assisted living section have to help out, but they don't know anything about memory care. They don't even know the residents or what they need. We really wouldn't suggest this place.

"Subpar Care After Director Change at Assisted Living Facility"
My mom moved into this assisted living facility around and, initially, it was wonderful. She seemed to be doing much better as the care was excellent. However, things eventually took a turn for the worse when their Director of Memory Care left the facility. Shockingly, they didn't promote the next most qualified person – the deputy director. Instead, they brought in an outsider. This had consequences as the deputy director quit her job, moved to another local facility specializing in memory care, and took along with her all the competent caregivers. The current caregivers are quite frankly untrained. They seem to be clueless on how to communicate with residents, let alone care for them. We recently discovered some unexplained marks on my mother. Consequently, we had to escalate this to the state authorities on two separate occasions within a span of 30 days. Eventually, we felt compelled to move my mom out of there. Just yesterday, I received the final report from the Garden's investigation revealing that the facility was at fault for the injuries suffered by my mom. I urge everyone to think twice before sending your own loved ones to this facility.

"The Gardens: Assisted Living with Long-Term Staff"
The Gardens is really nice and seems well-organized. Most staff members have been there for over 10 years. They only provide assisted living, so their prices are higher than places with independent living. For my mom, independent living felt more suitable.

"A visit: Friendly, pet-friendly, but slightly distant."
The tour was nice, friendly people. Allows pets, good amenities. Bit far.

"Lacking Care in Memory Area, But Clean and Pricey"
This place's memory care isn't great. Mom's not getting the same care as before. They forget her meds sometimes, and she has to remind them. They have activities every day, and it's clean. Mom doesn't like the food, but I thought it was good. It's a bit pricey though.

"Pleasant Tour"
I had a great tour of this place. Everything went smoothly. The community looked neat, and everything was tidy. The staff I met were friendly and polite. It was a pleasant experience for my family and me. Although we found a closer community, our tour here was still enjoyable.

"Friendly staff, great food, and clean environment—highly recommended!"
The staff here are friendly and seem happy with their jobs. They don't leave often, which is great. The caregivers are supportive, the food is excellent, and they plan fun activities. The place is very clean. This is a non-profit community, and any money they make goes towards mission trips abroad.

"We Were Delighted With The Attentiveness"
The community is wonderful, with fantastic staff who take great care of the residents. Although it's expensive, it's definitely worth it. I appreciate how friendly and attentive the staff are, especially with Alzheimer's patients. We loved this community for my mom, and she was very well cared for.

"Dad Enjoys Compassionate Staff"
My dad is doing well with everything they offer. The place is clean, and the food is good. He wishes there were more diabetic-friendly options, though. The staff and activities are trouble-free. What he likes most is the caring staff and friendly residents.

"Mixed Experience in Assisted Living Facility"
The visit and checkup were fine. Dad got in when the boss was away, so he was a bit confused at first. No clue about activities or stuff. Felt like we were left to figure it out alone. But he's getting used to it now. Place is super clean. Staff is mostly nice. Food's yummy, rooms tidy. Hoping Dad has a good time!

"The Gardens at Barry Road - A Good Place for Mom"
My mom is 90 years old and needed more care than her home could provide. After researching (thanks to A Place for Mom!), I picked The Gardens at Barry Road. It's close to family, with friendly staff and positive reviews. Despite a few scheduling hiccups, it's been a great experience. Mom adjusted well and made friends.

"Major Disappointment with Gardens at Barry Road"
Our time with The Gardens at Barry Road was greatly disappointing. This was one of the places we considered for our family member who needs memory care. They seemed very open during our visit and assured us they could possibly provide the care we required. We even fixed a date for an assessment. However, on the specific day, they called us, backing out and saying they couldn't provide the kind of care needed by our family member. This left us feeling let down since we were hoping to get evaluations from multiple facilities and counted on them to be one. In light of our experience, I wouldn't recommend them. They didn't come across as dependable or professional.

"Assisted living facility needs improvement; communication and billing issues."
The assisted living place is just okay. We're not super impressed. The place is fine, but we're not happy with what we're being told. They don't always communicate well. There have been problems with billing, something in the administration isn't right.
