"Disappointed with The Blake at Flowood's Quality of Care"
Don't suggest The Blake at Flowood. Things there have been inconsistent and worsening. Staff are underpaid, overworked, and often leave quickly, whether they're skilled or not. The Blake charges high prices for subpar care. You should search elsewhere.

"Deeply Disappointed by Negligence and Poor Service at Assisted Living"
The cleaning at this assisted living facility is beyond awful. For three straight days, they left the same tray on the floor making it dirty (there were bread and paper crumbs under the bed). The restroom wasn't any cleaner; there was poop in the toilet and my aunt couldn't use the bathroom without help. I once spent the night there and needed help, but nobody responded to the call button. I eventually went up to the nurse's station two hours later, the alarm was still ringing, and the answering device was lying idly behind the nurse's cart on the floor. On a different night, I found the nurse's aide fast asleep at a workstation in the hallway. I had to call out to her three times before she finally answered, but then she dozed right back off again. After my aunt was sent to the hospital to check her pain, I tried reaching out to the hospital and requested an update from the nurse repeatedly but got no valuable information for over a month. When the doctor gave my aunt the okay to transfer to rehab, the Blake had no clue where she was relocated to. The doctor eventually contacted me with her details. She was gone for more than two months until they realized she was missing from the facility. It was such a terrible experience for my aunt, given that we had heard so many positive things about this place. Not just for my aunt but us, her nieces and nephews, were let down too. Truly distressing!

"Lacking Cleanliness, Frequency in Staffing, and Proper Care"
The rooms are simply not clean enough. There are too many staff changes and they don't communicate well. My dad's stuff keeps disappearing, probably due to other residents getting into his room without any supervision. Dad needs help to use the restroom and he needs a regular schedule for it. He's often in wet clothes because they don't help him with the restroom enough. There's no way I'd suggest this place to anyone.

"Inadequate Care and Poor Communication at The Blake"
I strongly recommend steering clear of The Blake at all costs. The staff aren't nearly responsive enough, often ignoring phone calls, questions, and concerns. They make a show of organizing activities by putting up calendars, but in reality, they let the residents in memory care aimlessly roam the halls instead of guiding them to these activities. Staff shortages during the pandemic only made the situation worse. The staff doesn't make the effort to consult the doctor about potential issues with the residents. Nor do they communicate with families about their loved ones' problems. They were supposed to assist my loved one with a range of tasks including bathing, managing medication, meals, activities, housekeeping, and laundry. Memory care residents only have access to a TV room and a secure area. It feels like a warehouse for residents with memory issues, not like a caring environment. It seems the staff tire of repeating answers, so they just stop responding to residents' questions. They don't hesitate to insist a resident be moved out if they decide they can't provide the needed care, without offering enough time for proper preparations. They time this near the beginning of the month and refuse to refund the money. Initially, they did an evaluation and insisted they could look after my loved one. However, after the move-in, they claimed it was too much to handle and ended up evicting my loved one from the community. I wouldn't trust this place to look after anything, not even a head of lettuce. The residents need sunlight and fresh air, and they're not getting it here.

"Disappointing Care for Loved One in Memory Care Unit"
My mother-in-law stayed in the memory care unit. When we first saw the place, they said they'd help her with dressing and bathing, but that didn't really happen. She ended up wearing her pants inside out all day. They don't watch over them well, so they wander into other people's rooms. We just felt like they didn't look after her properly.

"Not Quite the Right Fit"
I visited this community recently for my loved one. Everything went smoothly during our tour. The staff arrived on time for our appointment and answered my questions thoroughly. They offered a great activity program and dining experience for the residents. However, it ultimately wasn't the right fit for us.

"Mom's Happy and the Place is Great"
Mom is getting used to living here and she likes it a lot. I like that it’s new and fancy for this area. I would move in myself! The food is good from what I’ve tasted. The ladies who work here are nice and caring. It has been a good experience and I would recommend it to others or my friends.

"Unapologetic Late Tour with No Price Flexibility"
The place looked really great. I had a meeting set up at 1pm. She showed up 10 minutes late, didn't even say sorry for making us wait. She walked us around the place really quickly, made us sit at a table, showed us some papers and then pretty much hurried us out. My sister in law wasn't happy about it either. They made it crystal clear that they weren't going to lower the prices. On my way out, I just got the feeling they wanted our cash. I was pretty upset.

"Beautiful Facility Hindered by Poor Management and High Turnover"
This place isn't well managed. It seems like there are always problems because many staff members leave quickly. I've met some really nice staff members, but then they leave because of upper management. They've had 3 cooks and 3 health directors in less than a year, and the front desk has had many changes too. Even though the place looks nice, it's not run well. I've tried talking to the manager about my concerns, but she just ignored me and told the staff I'm a complainer.

It was super clean and fancy, like a 5-star hotel. They had fun activities, and everyone seemed either happy or grumpy.
