"Mixed feelings about assisted living facility"
The place seems nice and tidy, and the workers are nice. But I wouldn't suggest it. The medical team sometimes doesn't catch important things. They can't take patients to places. They ask for more money for things they don't do. Some of her jewelry went missing. Also, the staff exploited her, knowing she has dementia.

"Nurse's Negligence Causes Stress and Delays in Medication"
The aides and cooks were wonderful. I had a lot of trouble with [name removed], the nurse. She wouldn't send all my mom's prescriptions to the Lighthouse when Mom had to move. After asking her 4 times, I had to take action myself. She only sent 2 prescriptions, but there were 5 more. I had to go to Keesler and the pharmacy to find the other medications. Meanwhile, I had to go twice a day for 15 days to give my mom her medication because of staff's delay. She wouldn't even look at me or help me find the orders. This caused me a lot of stress, and I ended up having a panic attack and went to the hospital. Also, they charged me for October. The staff said she would refund it, but it's been almost a month and I haven't gotten the refund. I shouldn't have been charged. Very unprofessional management.

"Great caregivers, friendly staff, and cozy apartment"
The caregivers are wonderful. One of my ministers visited recently and noticed how different it is here under the new ownership. Everyone is so friendly and always willing to help. I really like my apartment. It's roomy, homey, and looks out over the garden, which is nice. Being a Celiac, it's a struggle with food, always asking, "Can you eat this? Can you eat that?" every day. But that would be the same anywhere, and they try to accommodate me. They have a lot of activities, but I just don't care for the ones they offer.

"Small, friendly, and very happy community"
My loved ones looked at a bigger place but chose Belvedere Commons for its smaller community feeling. They have made friends and are very happy. The staff is very attentive and helpful.

"Great choice for assisted living near family with good COVID safety."
We picked this place because it's healthy, near family, and had no COVID when we moved Mom here. They email a lot and mostly respond to our asks, but they're busy. Mom likes the food and hasn't griped about it. I'd suggest it to others checking places out.

"Expensive Assisted Living Neglects Special Dietary Needs"
Our family member suffers from diverticulitis and needs a special diet. Despite having a doctor's note explaining this, the place still lets her pick from the everyday menu. Considering how much we pay, we expected higher-quality care.

"Friendly Staff and Clean Rooms at Active Facility"
The workers were really nice. I visited at 3 in the afternoon, so there were lots of residents doing different things. The rooms were neat and tidy. Since this was my first time looking at a place like this, I’m not sure what score to give it.

"Great Food and Friendly Staff!"
I was looking for a place for my aunt, and a friend told me to visit during meal time. When I did, I saw how kind and well-trained the staff were. The residents seemed happy and were treated well. The food looked and smelled delicious, not like hospital food. After I shared my experience with my two cousins, they were excited and scheduled a tour.

"Great transition, friendly staff, busy social calendar, happy dad"
The Gardens has been amazing in helping my dad move into assisted living. His studio is warm and cozy, and we've made it feel like home with their help. He still feels pretty independent even though he needs some help in certain areas. He loves the friends he's made and thinks of the staff as good friends too. We're really impressed with how quickly they respond to any questions or concerns and how friendly, attentive, and respectful everyone is, from the Business Admin to the Health Services Director. We also love the transportation they provide for my dad and the other residents. I'm happy to say their Social Calendar is always busy, with lots of chances to get together and have fun. Dad can't believe how fast his first year has gone, and neither can we.

"Activities Galore at The Gardens"
I've seen the activities at The Gardens and they are super organized and fun. The residents often tell me how much they love the activities and the Activity Director. One time, they had a holiday party for residents and their families with live music, lots of food, fun projects, and great vibes. I would recommend this place just for the activities!

"Expect More Assistance from "Assisted" Living Facilities"
Based on my personal experience with this facility, I wouldn't advise anyone to entrust a family member to their care. If it were possible for me to take back the fees I've already paid, I'd have my mother at home with me this very day. They call themselves an "assisted" living facility, but outside of providing meals, clean bedrooms and dispensing medications, I haven't seen any real assistance! I had a thorough discussion with them about my mother's needs before admitting her to their care. This included assistance with her hearing aids, dentures, clothing options and bathing. She has Alzheimer’s and has been in our care 24/7 for the last two years, so we really needed a break. I also requested that she work with a physical and occupational therapist to help with her walking, and yet, two weeks later, I'm informed they require a doctor's order for this. Once, she got stuck in the bathtub, screamed for help, fell, and started experiencing chest and leg pain. I advised them to send her to the ER, which is literally a block away. But she arrived there utterly confused and petrified. On her return, apart from demanding her discharge papers, they didn’t even care to enquire about her condition. Two days later, she still had the ER wristband, which was causing skin irritation. Their claim to “assisting” her seems to me quite far from the truth. On top of that, they can’t even get the basics right: her toilet seat is incredibly loose, and there is no shower chair for this 89-year-old lady; the hot water is absurdly warm; there is even a possibility of her suffering from scald wounds! In the end, based off my experiences over the past month, I told the director outright that I had no intention of bringing my mom back nor recommend anyone to their facility. As far as I know, she never participated in their promised weekly "trips," and the only activities seemed to be daily Bingo games and exercise sessions. Each time I visited, I saw residents just waiting idly in the main hall for the next meal to be served.

"A Wonderful Place for Mom"
My mom is still getting used to the community, but everything else is going really well. The place looks great, and they keep it very clean. The staff is awesome and always ready to help. They are super friendly and kind. There are lots of activities throughout the week. The food is good and they serve balanced meals. It is a bit pricey, but it's worth it. This is a great place for my mom. I would recommend it.

"Amazing Care and Leadership!"
The Gardens Assisted Living has made a huge difference in my parents' lives and our family's life. I live in Savannah, and knowing they are well taken care of is a big relief. My dad was supported and encouraged to get his VA Benefit, which has helped a lot. From Jodi, the GM, to Shrika, the head nurse, and all the staff, they are the best. It didn't start that way. What changed? New ownership and Jodi's leadership! I can't say enough about it. She is the best!
