"Comfortable and Safe Assisted Living with Average Dining Experience"

I'm glad my parent is safe here. The place is clean, nice, and residents are friendly. The food in the dining room is just okay—not bad, but nothing special.

"Not Ideal Location"

The place needed some improvements, and it was too far away.

"Food Quality Needs Improvement"

The food is the biggest problem. They don’t get creative with cooking. Too much spicy food with raw veggies makes it tough to eat. They should improve the meals they serve.

"Friendly staff and happy residents make it a great place"

We’re really happy with it. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The residents really seem to enjoy it. Overall, it’s been a very positive experience for us.

"Professional Staff, No Personal Touch, Felt Unwelcome"

The workers at the home are super polite and formal. They call you Mr. or Mrs., and the servers treat you like you’re at a fancy restaurant. But they don’t really show who they are. No one told me their names or got friendly with me. It was all just too stiff and cold. When I had issues and talked to the bosses, they just threw the rule book at me, like I was just anybody. My family member got bed bugs after coming back from another place, and it seemed like only a few workers should have known, but somehow, everyone found out. When I tried to go through the main area to sort out the bed bug problem, they wouldn’t let me. It made me feel really awkward. The nurses, though, especially two of them, were awesome. The physical therapy crew was also great—they knew a lot and really seemed to care. But other than that, it was pretty bad. They basically told me I had to leave in one day or else. I had to tell them I was leaving. And even though my family member wasn’t there long, they wouldn’t give back the big fee we paid.

"Nice place, but too far from where we wanted."

We had a good tour at Abbotswood at Irving Park. I really liked it, but it was farther away than we wanted. The grounds and the facility were nice. It seemed newer and better kept compared to others we visited.

"Poor experience at an older facility"

My family member didn't have a great experience at this fairly outdated facility.
