"Great Place, Needs Better Food Management"

The living center is great and the people working here are top-notch. My worry is about safety after the front desk closes. It seems like anyone could just walk in because no one’s watching. It would be safer if someone was there all the time. It would be good if they hired a chef who can cook well and serve enough food. My mom’s been living here, and they’ve changed chefs four times already. They serve meals in two rounds, and often, by the second round, they run out of what the residents want to eat and have to give them something else. But overall, this place is really cool. If they fix the food situation, it would be even more amazing. My mom loves it here.

"Assisted Living Facility Needs Improvement"

The food isn't good. There's always a problem with having enough workers. We've been telling them about our concerns since we got here, but things haven't gotten better. It's not a good place for people who don't have anywhere else to go. The people who work in the office aren't easy to talk to, and it took them a long time to remember my mom's name. We chose this place mainly because it's close by and offers extra help if we need it.

"Horizons Failed to Provide Promised End-of-Life Care"

If you're thinking about Horizons Memory Care at Arbor Landing in Hampstead, NC for someone you care about, READ THIS. Horizons forced my mom to leave even though she was receiving hospice care. They said she had to leave because she couldn't stand, turn, or help with moving from one place to another. She was so ill that the only place that agreed to take her was a nursing home an hour away from the nearest family member. Just 16 days later, she passed away. We were told over and over again that this place was supposed to let patients stay until they pass. That wasn't true. Horizons is only equipped to help when there's one person assisting, and they have no means to help patients who can't walk anymore or are too ill. They have a nurse on-call who can show up anytime and say the patient's 'level of care' has shifted and send them away. They're even protected by the laws of North Carolina. There are many care homes that have the ability and will to help Alzheimer's patients throughout their journey, with two people assisting and the proper equipment. Moving my mom was so tough for her and it added to her swift decline and eventual death. It's just disgraceful.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Community"

I didn't find the community very impressive. If you can manage independently, it's a good fit. But if you need assistance, this isn't the right place. The staff's email communication was excellent.
