"Tour Fails to Impress: Ill-Informed Marketing Director's Ignorance Upsets Visitor"
We visited the assisted living place, forcing ourselves to smile as we left. It's clear the person in charge of showing us around only cares about renting a room. That person really should spend some time working as a nursing assistant to truly understand what they're promoting. She couldn't even get the residents' names right, which was awkward and upsetting. There's no way I'd let my family member stay here. It seems like the other staff members genuinely care- we could see that especially in the memory care unit. But the person selling the place has no clue, really. They actually took us to a room where a seriously sick resident was, not even caring about the resident or their family who were with them.

"A Welcoming Community with Room for Improvement"
They really encourage a sense of togetherness there, and overall, we've been quite happy with Brookdale. Sometimes, the staff seems hurried and can't give full attention to residents, but they're pleasant to deal with, especially the evening staff. For senior living, it's a pretty good place. Our loved one loves the food and enjoys meeting other residents. She also really likes her room; it's a nice size and makes her happy.

"Great Tour, Far from Doctors, Nice People, Promising Updates"
Our family visited this assisted living facility in person. The tour experience was really nice, but the community was too far from our loved one's doctor's office. The people there were very friendly, and they were making updates to the community while we were there. It looked like everything was going to turn out really nice.

"Limited Options in Small Town"
This place is just okay—not great, not terrible. It’s a small town, so choices are limited. We’re all dealing with shortages.”

"Nice Staff, But Felt Too Much Like a Hospital"
The folks I met were really friendly. The place, though, seemed more like a hospital than a home. I didn’t feel the comfort I was looking for. It could be good for someone else, but it didn’t suit my mom.

"Disorganized, Unhygienic Assisted Living; Not Recommended"
They seem confused and don't communicate well. No health director. Bugs and dirty.

"Severe Negligence and Deteriorating Conditions at Assisted Living Facility"
Appalling Experience! My family member was left in dirty clothes for multiple days, and my mother's weight has drastically decreased. She's also been constantly falling down. The people in charge never answer my calls or give me a callback. The bill we receive isn't correct and is always directly taken from my bank account. The cost of my mother's care somehow doubled within a month without any justification. We believed this place would be a lot better considering what we were promised and the amount we're paying. This used to be a great place. However, it's deteriorated and it seems they're always short-staffed. The last time we visited, the smell of urine was so overpowering that it burned my eyes and made me nauseous. My mother is always mentioning the bad smell during our conversations. There's been an ant infestation in her room for ages, and nobody's done anything about it. We're very dissatisfied and worried for her health. We've started arrangements for her to settle in a different place because of the unlivable conditions here. It's upsetting to make her go through yet another change of environment, but we can't stand to see her continue living in such a squalid place. This experience has been a nightmare!

"Caring Community"
Before COVID, Brookdale hosted fun events like brewery visits and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. They take residents to movies and the zoo, and offer in-house activities. The food variety is great, and the rooms are clean and comfy. The staff is dedicated and engaging.

"Daughter Describes Negligence and Poor Management at Assisted Living Facility"
This assisted living facility really neglected my mom. It's like there was no staff working there. They left her alone in the library one day, and didn't even bother to bring her to breakfast. She was stuck in bed with dirtied sheets and undergarments. They didn't secure the medicines properly, and the pills were just left unattended on the cart. There was nobody there to engage the residents in activities, and nothing fun was organized for them. It seemed like there were not enough staff members. They hardly ever took care of the laundry, which we paid for, and I ended up washing the clothes myself. I even found mold growing in the heater filters, which I had to clean out. They always claim that they're trying to fix these problems, but they never actually do anything about them. I can't recommend this facility to anyone. There's no excuse for it being managed so poorly. Now I have to stay with my mom all the time until we can move her to another place this Monday. This place just isn't reliable at all. The daughter of resident in room 306.

"Dad Thriving and Happy at Brookdale Assisted Care"
So far, everything has been great. My dad is happy, healthier, and loves the staff. We are really glad we chose Brookdale Assisted Care. We wanted him to live with one of us, but he preferred his own space and said he wouldn’t live with any of his children. He is very independent, and Brookdale helps him stay that way. After six months, he now calls Brookdale his home. Thanks for all your help!

"Watch out for Hidden Costs at Brookdale!"
Brookdale can fool you. They seem great when you first visit, but once your family member is settled in, the quality of care goes down fast. They say it's $5,000 a month, but they nickel and dime you for everything till you're paying over $6500 a month. The place isn't clean, the woodwork and floors are dirty because they don't hire enough cleaners, and even the yard work is a mess with weeds everywhere. You can find better options in Asheboro than Brookdale.

"Poor care and refusal of refund at Brookdale Assisted Living."
They don't even deserve a star. My mom was only there for roughly four and a half days when she had a fall and ended up breaking her hip. Even though I was promised she'd be monitored closely during the transition, it's clear that wasn't the case. When I tried to figure out what went wrong, no one had any answers. I'm taking my mom away from Brookdale because of these events. With them, the goal seems to be making sure you're paying the highest amount possible each month for care. They flat out refused to give us a refund for any of the money we'd already paid for the month of May. I really wouldn't suggest Brookdale to anyone.

"Caring for Grandma Well"
My grandma is still getting used to the community, which is understandable. The place looks great, and they keep it very clean and nice. The only issue I’ve had is with the billing and some unexpected extra charges. Other than that, it’s been a great experience and everything is going pretty well. The staff is great and very helpful. They offer fun activities and take her on cool trips. I really liked the director; talking with her was awesome. It’s a very nice and amazing experience. I would recommend it.

"Best Assisted Living Tour, Memory Care Needs Improvement"
We toured both the assisted living and memory care areas. On the assisted living side, everything was great, and I'd give it all fives. However, on the memory care side, we felt uncomfortable. The residents seemed drugged and were just lying around. While I know that's not the community's fault, it made both me and my husband uneasy. We visited just before dinner, so most residents were either watching TV or playing Wii. They showed us their activity calendar, which was impressive. Audrey, who gave us the tour, was very friendly and even remembered me when I saw her at the store later. She asked about our loved one, which meant a lot. If we need to choose a place in the future, this would be our top choice. It's the best we've seen so far, though there's always room for improvement.
