"Mixed Experience with Brookdale Forest City Assisted Living"
The billing process at Brookdale Forest City caused a lot of stress for me. I had to move my Mom to a different place because of how their billing worked with long-term insurance. Brookdale needs to improve their billing system to be more helpful. It made us switch to a place that wasn't as good. They also charged for giving meds, and if Mom refused she was in Memory Care, they added more charges, even for showers. They reimbursed me when I pointed this out. My Mom was very capable, and once I told the caregivers how to approach her and not take no for an answer, things got better. Apart from that, everything else was good! The activities were awesome! I still keep in touch with some caregivers and visit the Memory Care residents occasionally. When Mom was here, I visited 2-3 times every week, and they always welcomed me. The administration changed a lot after we left, but I don't know much about that. Mom passed away in November. Many times, I wished I had kept her at Brookdale Forest City, but she was in such good health, I thought she'd live for another 10 years (she had a brain bleed). At the new place, I went every other day to make sure everything was okay, but that's just how attentive I am anyway.

"Assisted Living Facility Breaches Trust; Poor Communication"
I wouldn't tell my friends or family to use this place. They talked to other people about my mom's care and where she was staying without telling us. They broke our trust in a big way and didn't keep us in the loop.

"Poor Administration and Unfair Rent Hike After Injury"
The workers were alright, but the people in charge were terrible. It's better to have your family members stay somewhere nearby for easy visits. My father had a fall and fractured his ankle at this place. Since he couldn't stand, they increased his rent threefold. They need a leader who values the residents over profits.

"Brookdale's Memory Care Center Lacking in Consistent, Quality Care"
My granddad was in Brookdale's Memory Care center for almost half a year. As far as we can tell, he fell four separate times and had to go to the emergency room as many times. Not long after checking into Brookdale, he broke his shoulder. He took another fall just four days later and got hurt all over again. Then he fell once more, breaking his hip and passing away shortly thereafter. I can't help but blame the lack of proper attention and care for accelerating my granddad's health problems and ultimately leading to his passing. There were a couple of decent employees there, but with staff changing all the time, the overall standard of care was subpar. If a loved one of yours needs this kind of assisted living, I strongly advise looking elsewhere for options.

"Nice Community, But Not the Best Vibe"
I visited this place while searching for a home for my Dad. It’s a really nice community, and the staff members were friendly to us. During the tour, I didn’t feel great about it. They told me upfront that they didn’t have any available beds. The marketing director seemed like she was just going through the motions because there was no need to sell it. She did answer our questions, though. I’d suggest other families check out this facility.

"Mom Thriving in New Community"
My mom has been doing really well since she moved into this place. The therapy here has been great for her, and she's getting more active every day. She loves eating here and always talks about how delicious the meals are. She's happy she can choose from different foods on the menu and always has fresh salad. Overall, it's been a perfect fit for her, and we're really happy with everything.

"Family Disappointed with Assisted Living Care"
We tried hard to look after our dad by ourselves, but we realized he needed more help than we could give. So, we looked around and picked Brookdale Forest City because it was the friendliest and closest to us. The people in charge were nice and taught us a lot, but there weren’t many different things to do. If you didn’t like the activity, you could only sleep or watch TV. We had to take dad out of Brookdale because they weren’t taking good care of his health. We kept asking for a UTI test for two weeks, but nothing happened. We got so tired of waiting, we took him to the hospital. That’s when we found out he really did have a UTI, even though Brookdale’s doctor said he didn’t. Dad had to stay in the hospital for five days to get medicine through a needle. Dad also got checked for other things, and we found out that what they said were just hemorrhoids was actually cancer. Now they say he has less than six months. We’re really upset about this.

"Overlooked Medical Issues at Brookdale Forest City Facility"
We spent a long time taking care of our dad at home before realizing he needed more help than we could provide. We checked out various facilities and eventually chose Brookdale Forest City. This facility seemed friendlier and more welcoming than others, plus it was near our house for easy visits. The staff was kind and knowledgeable, but we were disappointed with the lack of alternate activities for residents who weren't interested in the regular scheduled events. Their only options were to sleep or watch TV. We had to take dad out of Brookdale because his medical requirements weren't being handled well. Despite constant requests, it took nearly two weeks for the on-call doctor to conduct a UTI test. We eventually became so frustrated that we took dad to the emergency room ourselves. Surprisingly, the Brookdale doctor called us while we were at the ER, saying dad didn't have a UTI. Yet, half an hour later, the hospital's test results confirmed he did have a UTI and needed to be admitted for IV antibiotics for five days. Moreover, after conducting full blood work and several other tests, we discovered that the hemorrhoids for which dad was being treated at the facility was in fact rectal cancer, and he was given a prognosis of six months or less. Words can't describe our heartbreak and anger.
