"Mixed feelings about meals, but loving care for residents."
My mom gets great care here. The staff is really nice and makes sure she has everything she needs. I just wish the meals were better sometimes, both in taste and how much there is.

"Assisted Living Review: More Like Nursing Home, Unhappy Experience"
This place feels more like a nursing home than assisted living. Most people here can't take care of themselves at all. My mom wasn't happy being here because of that. She had to walk past wheelchairs pushed into the halls by staff to care for them. The halls always smell like urine. Wouldn't suggest it if you want a community for gardening, outings, etc.

"Mixed Feelings About Brookdale Monroe Square"
We picked Brookdale Monroe Square because they offer memory care, which we knew our loved one would eventually need. The food quality could be better, and they should provide more variety. Portion sizes are small and could be bigger. I’m happy with the medical care and attention. Overall, I’m pleased, but they’re understaffed, and the food needs improvement.

"Convenient location, spacious rooms, strict virus protocols, recommended."
We picked Brookdale Monroe Square because it was close to my work, and the room was perfect for my mom and dad. They got a suite at a better price than other places we checked. Now, my dad is in a 2-person room by himself, so he has lots of space. He was in a tiny room before, so they have rooms of all sizes. Dad complains about the food, saying there's not much variety at breakfast. They’ve been really strict with visitors and have kept everyone safe from the virus. I’d recommend this place to others.

"Inattentive Staff and Poor Salesmanship Questionable at Facility"
The employees here just didn't value our time. We'd set an appointment but when we got there, no one was there to meet us. It wasn't until half an hour later, when we were about to leave, that the top boss came up asking if he could assist us. We were on his 'to-do' list after all. If they couldn't handle the sales part properly, I don't think they could have managed their care services any better.

"Overpriced Assisted Living Home with Negative Environment"
This place has super cramped rooms, it stinks, and the overall vibe is gloomy and sad. I also didn't appreciate having to eat at certain times and in assigned spots. Given the high price, it hardly seems worth it considering what you're getting.

"A Quick Look at the Community"
This place seemed clean and pleasant. The staff was friendly, and they offer special diets for an extra cost. However, even for a short stay, they charged an upfront fee.

"Caring Community for Mom"
We visited Brookdale Monroe Square. It's a nice place where we might move Mom if she needs more care. The staff was friendly and helpful explaining how they'd care for her. If she moves here later, they promised even better care and attention.

"Mixed feelings about assisted living rates and consistency."
We considered placing my dad here but changed our minds. Unsure if we'll reconsider. Want a flat rate like Carriage Club. Confused why they're not consistent.

"Great community, like Brookdale Communities"
I didn't pick this place because it's too far to drive. But everything else was great! Friendly staff, happy residents, and a clean, nicely decorated interior.

"Great community with attentive staff and good food"
The staff here are attentive and really seem to care about the residents. They keep the place clean and offer some activities. The food is very good, and we appreciate that they have a separate dining area for more active residents to make friends. I would recommend this community.

"Upset: Careless Facility Led to Poor Health and Unwanted Haircut"
My relative stayed at this assisted living facility temporarily. Sadly, she returned with numerous health issues, including a urinary tract infection, a yeast infection, and a body rash. To make matters worse, she fell twice during her 7-day stay. They even went as far as to cut her hair without seeking approval first. Considering she has dementia, they should have confirmed with me even if they had asked her. When I arrived on pickup day, I didn't see a single staff member. I had to handle two laundry baskets all by myself without any assistance offered. She won't be returning to this facility.

"Great Community and Staff!"
We really like the community and the staff here. They are doing a great job with my in-laws. We got to try the food with them, but it was kind of last minute and they weren’t ready. The community is always nice and clean. My in-laws haven’t joined any activities yet, but they do have them.

"Caring Staff and Good Food in a Large Community"
I like how they take care of my loved one here. It's a big place, so I worry she might get lost sometimes. The staff is always nice and ready to help. The food looks good and she likes it. They offer activities, but she doesn't join in. Overall, I would tell other families to consider this place for care.

"Neglect Runs Rampant in Understaffed Care Facility"
The Care Center is seriously understaffed. My dad stayed in the memory care area. The day shift was fine, but the afternoon and night shifts were terrible. There's hardly any management. Most bosses are either chatting in the med-tech room or behind closed doors. I caught the night shift worker sleeping twice. She saw me and didn't even care! She was back sleeping the next night. No wonder so many elders fall at night and get discovered only the next morning. My complaints went ignored. It's like no one's keeping an eye on anything. No one notices what happens on the afternoon and night shifts. There were a few employees who were kind and caring, but they're stretched thin doing the work of the not-so-caring ones. The services we paid for weren't provided, and a lot of items went missing.

"Serious Concerns Over Insufficient Care at Assisted Living Facility"
My time here wasn't great. It was tolerable during weekdays, but the weekends were terrible. There's a serious need for more staff. And even those who are there? They need overseeing. Especially on weekends, it's almost impossible to find a staff member. This place's just begging for a lawsuit. The facility itself isn't bad and could use a little extra cleaning, but I had to move my parent out due to insufficient care. For the money spent, the individual care was far from satisfactory. Every resident has a treatment plan, with every need coming with a cost. Sadly, on many occasions, my parent wasn't receiving the care we paid for.

"Responsive and caring staff; good care and amenities offered"
My family member has been here a short while, and our experience has been positive. The caregivers are quick to help and work hard. I feel like I have a good relationship with the leaders here. Whenever there's been a problem, they've fixed it fast and well. They have lots to offer in care and extras for residents. If you're checking out senior care nearby, they're definitely worth considering.

"Great Staff and Excellent Communication"
The staff is good. Their communication is excellent; they will call me no matter what time it is. If they haven't heard from me in a couple of days, they will check in with me. They pay attention to her needs and know who her best friend is. They are really good at taking care of people with dementia, which is nice.

"Fast, helpful, and kind service for mom's new home"
I was amazed at how fast I got a call back from A Place for Mom right after I finished my search on their website. Within 45 minutes, I got 4 calls from different places. It wasn't just the quick response; everyone I talked to was kind, helpful, and knew what they were doing. Darlene and Jennifer from Clare Bridge have been especially great. They've been responsive, understanding, and patient during this first, crazy week of my mom moving to her new home.

"Concerns Over Staffing and Maintenance at Facility"
I don't know much about assisted living facilities, but I'm not really impressed by this one. Some parts of the building are clean. But other parts hidden from the public should be better maintained. The staff is friendly but there aren't enough of them. I get worried when I visit on the weekends and barely see any employees. My dad has Alzheimer's and if he fell down, I wonder how long it would take for a staff member to come and help him? It's more likely another resident would be the one to assist him.

"Assisted living meets expectations, some meal repetition; overall satisfactory"
I think it's okay for what you get. The care seems fine. My parents have some complaints, but I think it's because they're adjusting to losing independence, not because of Monroe Square. They don't really join in much. My mom can't really participate, and my dad, well, he's getting involved a bit more, but he sticks by her. He's made a few friends and enjoys sitting outside when it's nice, but he won't leave her to play bingo or go on trips. Both my parents say the meals repeat too much. They have beans and cornbread more than once a week, and my dad's tired of it (even though it's one of his favorites). Apart from that, there aren't any major complaints.
