"Well-Maintained Facility with Helpful Staff, Some Room for Improvement"

Overall, I rate my experience at 4 stars mainly because of a bout of stomach flu and quarantine, which the facility couldn't control. Maybe it could have been a 5 otherwise. The meals and dining service felt a bit exclusive, but that's somewhat expected for just a short stay. The activities could use more variety and be more appropriate for our age group. Some of the games were too challenging. It was the most expensive option we looked at, but Ashley, the sales manager (even though it wasn't her job), was always available by phone and came at a moment's notice to help with anything. For instance, she helped when the wifi was out, assisting with the TV and Kindle.

"Community Size Overwhelming, Staff Friendly - Good Tour Experience"

Our family visited the facility in person. The tour was nice because the staff were friendly. However, the community felt too big and overwhelming for us.

"Hit-or-miss care; needs maintenance and staff consistency."

My relative stayed here. Here's what I think: Good stuff: a) Food is tasty and diverse b) Rides to the doctor are reliable c) Bosses reply fast to messages Not so great: a) Place needs fixing-up: lights out, dirty stuff, holes. b) Workers change a lot, so things aren't consistent. c) No way to check if things are done right.

"Mixed Feelings: Prompt Assistance, Pleasant Environment, but Improvement Needed"

They've been pretty good overall. Sometimes, our family member falls, and it takes a bit for the staff to help. But when we tell them, they're quick to respond. We've talked to the big bosses, and they're helpful. They handle medicines well and listen to our worries. The place is nice, clean, and easy to get around. Our family member enjoys the food. They even bring it to rooms if someone can't go to the dining room, which we like. It seems like a fair price, and they were flexible with us on the cost.

"Smaller, homey feel and better views swayed our choice."

I liked Brookdale South Charlotte, but we chose a smaller place. The room at Brookdale was on the 2nd floor, which wasn’t ideal, and the place we chose had better views and pricing. We liked everyone we met at Brookdale and thought it was nice, but the smaller size and homey feel of the other place won us over. Brookdale had one large dining room, while the place we chose has smaller dining rooms for each hallway, which felt more homey.

"Friendly Staff, Clean Space, Affordable"

I talked with someone who was really helpful to learn about the place and what to do next. I wished they had an apartment or a one-bedroom place, but they only had a one-room suite open. All in all, it’s a pretty nice spot with lots of possibilities. It’s super clean and the people working there are super nice. The cost is pretty good too.

" "Disappointed: Services Lacking and Slow Dining, but Tasty Food""

Honestly, I'm not thrilled with this place. The letdown: They don't regularly provide the services they promised such as changing bedding, providing showers, changing clothes, and doing laundry. The staff often claim they're "too rushed" to lend a hand. They also seem to change jobs often. The food service is sluggish, once again because they're short on staff. Sometimes the people living here wait more than thirty minutes to get their meals. At times, even the head honcho steps in to pass out food. The events fluctuate a lot - some days have hardly anything happening, while others are quite exciting. I will admit, the food is pretty tasty.

"Dangerous Care and Negligence in Brookdale South Facility"

My husband stayed at Brookdale South for many years. There was an aide who would hurt him when she had to help him change. Despite his protests, she wouldn't stop. One day, she lost her temper and hit us both. Another time, my husband took a bus ride to Target under the care of the Brookdale team. The manager, whose name I won't mention, failed to secure his electric wheelchair on the bus. As she drove out from the Stonecrest Target location, the wheelchair tipped, landing on top of my husband. She continued to drive with the heavy chair crushing him, and his head banging on the hard bus floor. Keep in mind, my husband had already suffered two strokes. This incident landed him in the hospital and resulted in a large medical bill. It goes without saying that we've since moved him to a different facility.

"Lovely Tour, But Not for Everyone"

This place looks nice and the people who work here were really nice when they showed us around. They took their time and made sure to answer all of our questions. But, my dad didn't feel good about the building being so tall or using the elevator. Maybe you should visit and decide for yourself.

"Terrible Assisted Living Experience"

We put our loved one in this place, but they got worse there. They only got better when we moved them to a different, more professional Dementia Facility. If your loved one needs personal care, don't choose this place. We noticed that other memory care residents were mostly ignored. The only ones who did okay were those who could move around easily or were in the early stages of the disease. Instead of the staff taking care of them, we saw residents helping each other. Sometimes, the staff would just walk away when residents asked for help. There's a water fountain, but nobody knew how to use it. We didn't see residents getting enough fluids. They only got some with meals and medicine, and those cups were tiny. We had to tell the staff to get water for our loved one. There's no water available anywhere else unless residents can find their room and drink from the sink. But late-stage dementia patients need reminders. This place is terrible, and we don't recommend it. It seems like they care more about money than the residents. Brookdale, which is part of the same chain, has lawsuits against them in Florida and California for . They surprise you with hidden fees after you move in. The cost goes up based on the level of care you need. It's like an a la carte pricing system. As for activities, they mostly play TV and music, and sometimes there are sing-alongs. Occasionally, we found an aide who really cared, but some residents had to pay extra for additional help. That's just ridiculous! You're already paying for care..

"Keep on searching for better care options."

Loved one declined, lacking care, better options exist elsewhere.

"Great Place, But No Openings Right Now"

This is a really nice community. The staff did a great job showing me around. They took their time with the tour and answered all my questions. There are lots of amenities for the residents. I think my mom would have liked it here, but there weren't any available rooms when I was looking. I recommend taking a tour.

"Smaller Community with Friendly Staff and Clean Environment"

We visited Brookdale South Charlotte and found the staff to be friendly and well-informed. The place seemed very clean and welcoming. We were searching for a smaller community because my dad is blind and needs more supervision and specific care.

"Decent Assisted Living Facility"

I visited this place with my mom to see if it'd be good for her. The tour was okay.

"Friendly staff and clean facility!"

I had a nice visit to Brookdale South Charlotte. The place was clean and well-kept. Everyone was friendly, and the guide knew a lot. It seemed like a good option, but I found another place that was a better fit for my husband’s needs.

"Decent Experience"

The staff here has been really nice. They offer me a bunch of activities, but I'm not really into that stuff. The food was just okay; it could've been better. Overall, everything was fine. I'd tell my friends about this place.

"Steer Clear: Overpriced Facility with Underwhelming Staff"

These reviews seem outdated. While the caregivers are wonderful, the pricing is too expensive and it feels like they're mainly focused on their profit. The nurse doesn't seem to put much effort into her work and the Director of Education is impolite and unfriendly. I would advise against choosing this facility.

"Definitely the right choice"

The place has a welcoming vibe and super friendly staff. They're always helpful and attentive. I felt comfortable the first time I toured the community. I just moved my Mom in three days ago, and while she's still adjusting, she's been talking with the staff and has been very happy with her care.

"Dim Interior Disappoints, Helpful Staff"

I visited this place when I was checking out where my relative could stay. The person who showed us around was super nice and knew a lot, but I wasn't really feeling the place itself. It just looked kinda dark and sad indoors.

"Nice place, not a great fit for us."

When we checked out this place for our loved ones, it seemed nice, but not quite the right fit. The rooms were a bit small, and the social atmosphere was lacking.

"Great staff, activities, and food happy with our choice!"

Everything's going well so far. The staff is really helpful and listens to any concerns. My mother-in-law seems happy there. There are plenty of activities, lots of food options, and friendly people living there. I'm confident we made the right choice.

"Great place, but pricing and availability were issues."

We really liked the staff and the facility. The pricing was a bit high since it was done a la carte. Also, they didn't have the availability we needed at the time. Despite that, it was a really nice place, and we liked it a lot.

"Clean and Small Facility with Private Rooms and Good Care"

This assisted living facility is clean and small, with fewer than 20 residents. Most are women, but there are some men. They have only one room opening up, and it’s a private room. The staff includes two RNs, and the activity person is also certified. The state recently inspected them and gave them a good grade. The Alzheimer’s Wing is called Clare Bridge. There’s a one-time community fee of $150, but it looks like the rent will be around $4,000.

"Have NO Activities"

The activities at the assisted living facility are disappointing. They have very few social gatherings in the afternoon, and overall, there's not much to do. When I talked to the staff about it, they simply said that residents go to bed early. On the positive side, the staff is friendly, the place is clean, and my loved one gets three meals a day. However, she's not really enjoying her time there, but we had to choose it because it's more affordable than her previous place.

"Lack of Affordable Assisted Living Apartments"

I didn't see any one or two-bedroom apartments for assisted living. Only a few people were around, some lounging in the reception area. The price was way higher than other spots.

"Great All-Inclusive Meal Plan, But No Kitchen"

I give this place 4 stars because it has an all-inclusive meal plan that gives you three meals a day. The only downside is that there’s no kitchen.

"Great Communication and Quick Response"

Visited.... Ellie called and left a message on Wednesday, November 10 around 3 pm. I called back around 5 pm and asked her to call me back.
