"Food Quality Disappoints at Assisted Living Facility"
The staff is great, but the cost is high, and the food isn't as good as last year. The menus aren't ideal for seniors with health issues. They mostly serve carbs, which made my mom gain weight and not want three meals a day like she should. Food is my only complaint.

"Neglectful Care and Poor Management Forces Resident's Family to Leave"
My father-in-law was left unchanged and suffered four untreated/unrecognized urinary tract infections. He developed untreated bedsores on his backside. If I wasn't there to care for him, he would be left uncared for with soiled clothes. The facility staff aren't the issue - they show promise. The management, including the executive director, are the obstacle by failing to properly train staff for jobs concerning memory care. Even with two reports filed against them, there were no changes made. One of the complaints was over another resident's care, prompting our decision to leave. And it's unfortunate that the few staff members who are genuinely struggling are opting to stay purely for their health insurance.

"Needs Better Food and Cleaning to Shine"
Even though they say it’s a top-notch place, it’s really just okay. The main thing we’re not happy with is the meals. They’re not good. The dishes are usually overdone, and often, they run out of stuff they say they have. Considering what folks pay to live here, you’d think the meals would be at least as tasty as what you get at K&W down the street. But sadly, they’re not. When it comes to keeping the place clean, it’s not great. They don’t sweep the stairs much, the carpets look like they need a good vacuum, and the bathrooms? They hardly ever get a proper mop. Now, the person who plans all the fun stuff is awesome, and a lot of the people who work here really do care. But the problem is, workers come and go too much, and the new ones seem like they don’t know what they’re doing. If they made the food better and cleaned up more, this place could be really great for our town.

My dad is doing well here. I feel he's safe with a good staff taking care of his needs. The community is clean when I visit. It's working out well for us.

We visited Morningside of Gastonia when considering care for a family member. The staff was friendly and professional, but cleanliness issues were noticeable—spots on the carpets seemed neglected.

"Impressive Care at Morningside!"
I find Morningside of Gastonia really convenient. The staff is friendly and helpful. My wife has been here for 6 weeks, and we're quite impressed. If things stay this way, we'll be very happy

"Happy with attentive staff and good care for mom"
My mother has lived here for almost 3 years and loves it. The staff is attentive and patient. Mom enjoys the food and loves choosing from a menu. The staff keeps me updated about her well-being. Since Mom’s memory isn’t great, I call ahead when picking her up; they always have her ready. She may need to move to the Memory Care Unit soon, so they are introducing her to the staff and activities to make the transition easier. They really care about her dignity.

"Nice place, clean and friendly staff, needs more visits."
We visited Morningside, and I thought it was nice. The place was clean, and the staff seemed friendly. Since it was just our first visit, I can't comment much on the overall value or care.

"Clean and Friendly, but Adjusting Is Challenging with Extra Help"
The place is clean, the staff is nice, and the food tastes good. They have all the usual things you need. The cost is about the same as other places. My situation is a bit tough because my loved one is struggling to adjust, so I’ve had to bring in extra help.

Dawn McKensie from A Place for Mom told me to check out Morningside of Gastonia, and I'm so glad she did. Mom is happy and well taken care of. The place is super clean, the food is great, and everyone treats the residents with respect. I'm forever thankful.
