"North Pointe of Mayodan: A Nightmare of Neglect and Overcharging"
My time dealing with North Pointe of Mayodan was nothing short of horrendous. Our first day, we found the room shabby and had to clean it ourselves before we could properly settle in. The next day, I was informed I had to administer my husband's medications myself because they hadn't arranged for any to be delivered. From Days 3 to 5, my husband got increasingly upset about the nurses frequently smoking outside and the ongoing noise from the laundry room. By the next couple of days, he began to hallucinate - something that had previously only happened when he'd missed his medications. Rather than addressing the issues, the management had their Crisis team intervene. We were never told what they found. Instead, my husband was sent to an ER 30 miles away only to be sent back to North Pointe the next day when he had received his meds. His hallucinations continued which led him to escape the facility and the police had to bring him back. After a thorough psychiatric evaluation, my husband is now well because he's receiving his medication properly at a different assisted living facility. Despite our struggles at North Pointe of Mayodan, we were charged $3200 for a 2-day stay in April and the full month of May. The owner, has not yet fully refunded us despite our repeated requests. He still owes us $877.39, and we are now in the process of getting our lawyer involved. It's shocking how easy it was for them to take advantage of us when we were struggling. On top of all, they were well aware that my husband has Frontotemporal Dementia. If they weren't equipped to handle his cognitive challenges, they should've told us from the beginning. To add insult to injury, we received a bill last week for my husband's medications ordered through June 1st, even though he left on May 8th! Our troubles with North Pointe of Mayodan continue, especially with trying to get our refund. Please think twice before trusting North Pointe of Mayodan with your loved ones or your hard-earned money.

"Awful Experience at North Pointe, Dubious Refunds and Care"
My ordeal with North Pointe of Mayodan was absolutely terrible. On the first day, the room wasn't even ready. We had to clean the bathroom and haul out shabby furniture. The second day, I was summoned to give my husband his prescriptions because they hadn't arranged to have his medications there when we arrived. My husband got really upset because the nursing assistants were constantly outside smoking when he needed them, and the noisy all-night laundry room was just across from his room. On succeeding days, he started having frightening hallucinations, a problem he had only had before when he forgot to take his medicine. North Pointe's crisis team had to step in, a decision made by the management, not us. But they never informed me about their findings. My husband got sent to the ER, which was 30 miles away. When he returned the next day, the hallucinations continued, and he ran to the local high school to get help from a cop. He was brought back to North Pointe again and then to the ER. After a thorough mental health check-up, he's doing great now because his meds are managed correctly. He’s now at a different and much better facility, NOT North Pointe of Mayodan. I have no idea what they did or didn’t do, but they didn’t take good care of my husband. We paid North Pointe $3,200 for their services for two days. When the horrific experience led to my husband not returning to North Pointe, I demanded a full refund believing we paid for services we never got. He seems to think that's fair and it's okay to overcharge people when they are facing hard times. North Pointe still owes us $877.39. Today, the owner emailed that he would refund one more day, but told me to liaise with his lawyer if I want more. My lawyer will be taking up that matter immediately. They knew my husband had Frontotemporal Dementia when we first met. If they weren’t equipped to handle individuals with cognitive issues, they should have just admitted that. I only wanted a refund for payments to North Pointe. This doesn’t even cover the thousands we had to spend on two emergency room visits in three days. So, please think carefully before entrusting your loved ones or your money to North Pointe of Mayodan. I intend to revisit here to update others on our ongoing struggles to get our refund. Lastly, we received a bill from North Pointe's pharmacy o indicating that they kept refilling my husband's prescriptions even after he left.

"Convenient and Comfortable Assisted Living, Close to Home"
This place is great, and it's close to our house, only 15 minutes away. We can bring my mother-in-law home for holidays, and she loves the food and activities they have every day. She's doing well, and the staff are getting better. Some are really good, the new ones are learning, and the others are improving. It's super clean here, and her room is always tidy. She needed her own space, and they've given it to her.

I wasn't wowed by this assisted living place. The team in charge is just terrible. They can't hold onto their staff because of bad leadership.

"Management's Dishonest Actions Taint Assisted Living Facility"
Upon first glance, this place seems pleasant, but don't be fooled by appearances. The management here is really poor, they say one thing and do something else. I'd never trust them with a loved one of mine.

"Good Activities, Room Cleanliness Needs Improvement"
I think North Pointe of Mayodan does pretty well overall. They have lots of activities to keep residents busy, which I like. The staff is friendly and helpful too. Common areas are kept clean, but they could do better with vacuuming and tidying up residents' rooms.
